marauders/harry potter fans who "don't agree with jk rowling" are like if people loved the leopard mascot for the leopards eating peoples faces party so they wore all the merch and drew art of the mascot and talked about the leopard mascot all the time but don't worry! they don't support the leopards eating peoples faces party! they're just completely indistinguishable from people who do because they both love the leopard mascot and make loving the leopard mascot 99% of their personality, "why do people feel unsafe around me when i very clearly don't support the leopards eating peoples faces party?" says the person in the leopards eating peoples faces party merch (don't worry they bought it second hand so the leopards eating peoples faces party don't get any money from them)

Hypotaenidia rail runoff

Propaganda:
Propaganda for Guam Rail:
They're only the second bird species to go from extinct in the wild to critically endangered. They're called Ko'ko' in Chamorro (language of the indigenous people of Guam).

Say it with me, folks:
Telling people to touch grass is not ableist
#I have a lot of thoughts about this as someone#who works in envtl ed and also has a disability#'touch grass' can be literal or figurative#and the primary point is that you need to take a break & get out of the echo chamber sometimes#otherwise it's easy to spiral with our own emotions and thoughts#it can be as simple as going out your front door or looking out the window#spending time in the outdoors or nature can take whatever form works for you#and there are mountains of evidence that this is beneficial for our mental physical and emotional health

Charadrius plover runoff

Propaganda:
Propaganda for Piping Plover
Little guys! Absolutely the most shaped bird you'll ever see. They give me so much cuteness aggression
2. These adorable shorebirds are little fighters! Their Great Lakes population is currently listed as Endangered, but over the last several years have begun to return to some historical beaches (including around Chicago) thanks to help from Conservation workers.
killdeer propaganda: best mothers on earth; pretend to break their wings if you get too close to their babies so you'll go after mama instead. extremely cute. stackable. great song. coolest name of any bird + funniest 4 letter code imaginable (KILL)

Eider (Somateria) runoff

Propaganda:
King eider propaganda:
makes a really funny ooooOoooOOOOooo sound like a muppet. Look it up
[mod looked it up]
youtube
Propaganda for the spectacled eider (info from Wikipedia and the Audubon Society):
Very cute face, very pretty patterns, males have "goggles" and green heads, females have cool striped pattern; green eggs, that's cool; they're believed to be able to stay submerged longer than most diving ducks; most elusive of the eiders; spends their winters in the Bering Sea in areas so remote from humans, we didn't know where they went until 1995 with the help of satellites;
Also their call sounds very quiet and polite, I love it
(Specifically track 3)

#big goofy looking sea ducks#i went for spectacled because I saw an article recently#about them being particularly in danger from climate change#combo of rising temps and sea level rise affecting nesting habitat#I'm rooting for all the birds that are in danger okay

Falcon (Falco) - round 2

#i had to pick nz falcon even if this was a hard one#i once backpacked in nz and stayed at a hut#that had a sign telling you to use your backpack as a shield if a falcon#started attacking you#because the bird is so heavily protected legally that#you could get in big trouble for trying to swat it away if you accidentally hurt it
