new headcanon time:

in their first year, hunter accidentally grabbed dexter's shampoo instead of his own

his hair had never felt so luxurious so he instantly knew he made a mistake

when he told dexter, dexter's response was "bro, idc, i have plenty use as much as you want"

hunter tried to go back to using his own, but just can't, not after he's had a taste of what could be

dexter does not help, instead he keeps introducing hunter to new products

"you're telling me daring's teeth aren't actually that reflective? it's the toothpaste???"

"my skin is so soft, my hair is so shiny???"

dexter offers to give him some at the end of the year, but he declines bc he's like no that's too much

the next year he doesn't even bother packing his own stuff since he knows he'll just be using dexter's

the evolution of "hey, sorry i accidentally used your shampoo" to "can i use this, too?" to "we're out of our body wash, can you get some more?"

dexter, putting a face mask on hunter: "that's real gold, btw" hunter: ???

I thought of a fic where I explained that the Grimm brothers were Storytellers who got too involved in the story and got trapped between the pages. (Which is why they both look so old.) That the book of destiny is a storybook from the world of storytellers. That's why it contains such powerful magic and is so important. It is possible to influence the lives of storybook characters simply by writing about the stories in that book. Which is why Milton Grimm is so obsessed with that book. He himself was the one who introduced it in Ever After. Giles, on the other hand, would prefer that book to be FAR away from his brother's hands. He prefers to see how each person writes his own story. He doesn't like his brother's idea that everyone should follow the original story.

I would also like to implement that when the World of Stories fragments, some characters that existed prior to that event continued to exist. An example would be Dracula, Draculaura's father, who also possesses a book of destiny. But it is quite broken and worn. While he still has great power, he is of little use to Dracula. So he has it hidden and under high security so that no one touches it. Because he is aware of how dangerous it is.

Some others that survived may be the myths. In fact, I have an idea that the Gorgons escaped from their myths and ended up in the World of Monsters. After Medusa's sisters recovered her head and revived her with their blood. Medusa prefers not to tell Deuce this detail because it seems irrelevant to her.

I love all the ideas but I don't know how I could implement them. I don't even know whether to do each story separately or have it all be the same. It's frustrating to just wander around with an idea and not be able to create anything concrete. 😫 Although I also feel like I should finish reading EAH's books before putting something coherent together. 🫠

Felt like redesigning Holt from monster high after going thru some old sketches

I had ALOT of fun with Holt that I just had to do Jackson. I love to think this mad scientist kid wears his nerdy horror video game shirts to class. As for Holt I like to think he loves make up and painting his nails for the feeling of freedom.

I also like to think that they would go by He/Him before they became aware of each other and once they learn of each other they fight like in the webisodes, but in the end get along and go by He/They ( yay! self acceptance!!!)

I have a new cell phone! So I'm trying out the Ibis Paint. So they had to serve as guinea pigs!

I used a Pinterest board to guide me here because my brain was fried in the ideas area.

I can't stop thinking about something...

What if Holt and Jackson are the only 2x1s in the J/H family? As if... The family rule is that the Hyde side is just a monstrous and dangerous transformation? It is not common to have two separate consciences. Maybe it was Elemental genetics or some kind of trauma. And that's why their parents didn't tell them. They had no idea how to approach it or bring it up. Not wanting her children to feel like a biological mistake or something.

I don't know... It's just an idea.

When I was figuring out an outfit design for Carrie I wanted to incorporate the fashion aspect of Monster High mixed with her iconic look, so instead of just covering her in fake blood splatters or recreating her full length dress I opted to get the feel of her design but make it fashion.

I wanted to capture the look of her drenched in blood so I decided a red lace with a subtle pattern on it woul;d be a good basis for the outfit and I layered it on her in different ways.

I made her a lace under top and lace socks, and I love how it ended up looking.

For her dress I did copy the top half of her movie outfit but I cut it mid thigh as I feel like a mini dress is a MH signature look and then layered the pieces with corresponding lace overlays to capture the same feeling.

I went for an asymmetric look to emulate the uneven dripping of the blood and to help break up the amount of red on her.

Combined with the hair and make up I am really happy with how Carrie turned out as I didn't want her to just be a normal doll covered in blood, but rather make it fashion and kind of camp.

Watched Monster High: Ghouls Rule recently and I do NOT remember every single plotline ending so...badly?? Like,, the ending of the main plot abt discrimination, the police's active role in the mistreatment of othered innocents and the pitfalls of prejudice being resolved with a party aside, bc that's par for the course with some children's media (despite the fact that they were going to publicly execute a teenager bc of interschool pranks), what do you mean the conclusion to Draculara and Clawdeen's b plot was Clawdeen apologizing bc she was embarrassed abt her dating inexperience? Draculara did not respect her boundaries, did not listen to her and forced her into increasingly distressing situations bc she couldn't accept Clawdeen saying 'no' to her busybodying! She only ever apologized for forcing her to speed date, never mind how she continually embarrassed her, set her up on dates against her wishes and berated her for setting boundaries! I love Draculara to death (ha) but this is NOT a "forgivesies" moment! It boggles my mind that she was upset and confused when Clawdeen rightfully avoided her after telling her she didn't want to talk to her for a while when she continually crossed the line! She told her the problem multiple times but it just fell on covered ears, it genuinely upset me to watch.

Then there is Heath and Abby's whole c plot nonsense where he was embarrassed bc of a comment made by Manny when she saved him from being hurt by the Normie pumpkin prank. Him spending the rest of the movie messing everything up while trying to save her in return to prove his masculinity would have been fine, a good lesson even, if it didn't end with him saving her and receiving praise for 'being a man.' Don't piss me off. He should have ended his arc apologizing to her for how he acted bc of his ego and thanking her for what she had been doing for him! He should have learned that there was nothing to be embarrassed about, she's his friend ffs! Just because she is a girl doesn't mean it's shameful for her to assist him and it was disappointing that he didn't learn that! Hell, just swallowing his pride a bit to tell her thank you without fully internalizing what was wrong with him feeling the need to prove he was a man would have been better!

All of the plot points were being done satisfactorily until their conclusions. That's so disappointing man :/

Also, sidenote: the fact that the villains for this movie were blond haired, blue eyed white people and cops is not lost on me. Jason and Holt being both being hassled bc they are half of each side and pass enough to fit in temporarily until exposed is also not lost on me but if I get into breaking down the main plot I'll be here all week.

too many ppl who know nothing about Filipino folklore n culture r talking shit about my ate. she’s based off of the manananggal, which you can compare to the European vampire, if that helps you understand it better. although, i’m reluctant to mention that becuz some ppl, who choose to be ignorant, currently hold the view that she’s just an Asian-colored vampire mishmash monster. she is not. other than the fact that she manages to exist at all, here are some details i appreciate about her.

first, she has a face that looks like my family’s. that’s my lola’s nose. that’s my mom’s birthmark. shit, those are my uncle’s cheekbones. the headpiece features jasmine, our national flower. the translucent petals are cool.

second, you can display her in two pieces, split by the torso. its not just a “cheap gimmick” you ignorant pos. at nightfall, the manananggal severs itself in two, leaving behind a vulnerable lower half while its upper half hunts for nourishment - blood, raw hearts, livers, fetuses. the red fringe represents her dangling intestines, hanging loose as she flies after ripping her body apart. the string detail is on the skirt for consistency, but also, intestines are long as fuck? why wouldn’t they also hang from the bottom, assuming they also get split in half.

while we’re on the outfit, the top is an extremely traditional (Spanish colonial, ugh) style in both fabric and shape. i have attire that looks exactly like it, minus the monster high red foil pattern. the tiny, “woven” sleeve cuffs are a nice touch. the earrings and bracelets look to be woven palm too, but aren’t as effective in plastic. the bottom half skirt is quite a bit shorter than is traditional, and the heels higher. it’s a monster high doll.

most accurate would be barefoot, tbh. but you guys would riot, and again, its a doll. actually, the shoes reference a lot from Filipino culture. the heel is a coconut tree overlooking a kubo, a one-room stilt hut built with natural materials such as bamboo and palm, and specifically made to be remade as necessary. the sole is “wooden”, also an accessible material of which some shoes were made with. it is attached by braid to what looks to be a straw strap. also not unusual for a shoe.

her fan and wings feature embroidery, and if you look closely at the latter, you will see a thin and delicate flora design in between the spider web pattern. this is extremely reminiscent of calado, a type of traditional hand embroidery akin to lace that is difficult as fuck. a dying art, btw.

i didn’t wake up looking to ride this hard for a plastic woman lmao. but if you’re gonna come for her, it better be because of the fluorescent green in her colorway and not because you don’t know what you’re talking about. honestly, a lot of Filipinos are just happy to be considered and celebrated. “wins” like this mean everything. maybe it’s not good enough for your collection, but now you know more about my culture than you would’ve gone out of your way to. and that’s good enough for me.
