So I managed to set up my PC at the new apartment and started working on a retexture I promised I'd make a long time ago. CC making woes under the cut.

I want to preface this by saying that I have zero negative feelings about the person who requested this specific mesh to be retextured or about requests in general. Nor is this me having issues with the specific creator whose CC I'm editing; this is oooold CC, made with the knowledge and resources available at the time, and a lot of older hair meshes that were made back then suffer from the same issues. This is just me venting about the CC.

Because honestly I do have some pet peeves regarding newer meshes, but I think it made me forget that creations in the pre-2010 era weren't flawless either.

Somehow, I managed to forget the several texture files per age. Like, the scalp one I get, but 3 files for a few strands of straight hair? Yeah, I don't miss those.

Broken YA stage - maybe because the creator didn't have the Uni EP?

The scalp texture for teens and adults/elders respectively (I alpha-edited away the strands that were on top to see why every time I tried to retexture the scalp the textures looked wonky - this is what I found). Had to remake the texture without using the original as a template. A looooot of warping and saving and refreshing was involved.

The end result. Due to multiple texture files I will not be making many recolours for this one.

This has honestly been one of the toughest hairs I've dealt with in a while. Still glad I tried, I do like a challenge every now and then. Also I am glad that I don't have to go through the same things every time I retexture a mesh.

No fancy previews for this one because I'm moving and don't have a lot of time for simming. But I did have time to sit down and make this one retexture and figured I might as well post it, since I don't know what my schedule will be looking like in the next couple of weeks.

I fulfilled a request on GoS! The person who requested the retexture only wanted 5 colours: Dynamite, Depth Charge, Explosive, Volatile, Mail Bomb. I made two versions, one with just these colours, and one with my usual palette.

Can't quite decide which version I like better. V1 is a bit more simple, V2 is an attempt to emulate the original's highlight placement. Thoughts?
