Nana’s life has been made out of wishes.

A wish to have a circle of friends, a wish to stand with them on a project that they’ve all poured their hearts into, a wish to perform again and again as the girls they are before adulthood cruelly snatches them away from each other.

A wish to never be alone again.

Nana settles onto her bed with the present upon her lap, staring at it for several moments. She hasn’t done much exploring of this place, nor has she taken it upon herself to do much aside from try and contact home. What is she even supposed to do in this odd place?

To be taken from her home like this, from her family without a hint of what she is to do now…

Her heart can’t do it. She can’t go through something so sudden alone ever again.

The present is set aside, Nana opting to lay down and stare up towards the ceiling. Her eyelids feel heavy, be it from the tears threatening to spill at the corners of her eyes or the lack of sleep she has been able to receive these days.

A sigh, one arm rising to block the light from her vision. She shuts them for a moment to breathe, to calm herself down. Crying over this and becoming further stressed wouldn’t help her situation, not at all. If… If Junna were here, if Karen were here, if anyone of her classmates were here…

They would root for her. She would have all the love she would ever need; she can nearly hear their voices.

…

Giving up here isn’t an option. Nana sits up with a new fire, leaning down from her spot and grabbing the present. She pulls it open to… a script.

The script for the 99th class’ first rendition of ‘Starlight.’ Warmth fills her chest, a gentle smile coming upon her lips. She runs her fingers over the worn edges, the slightly bent corners, the frog sticker that has since becoming a fixture on the page.

Memories are precious; a memento of her home is enough to bring them back.

“ Right… even now, we’re all connected by the stars, aren’t we? Aha… I was being a fool. Junna-chan… my words may not reach you, but.. ”

Nana moves to the window, holding the script to her chest as she looks up towards the night sky. One hand goes out, cupping the brightest star that comes into her vision.

“ … Please, tell everyone I’m here. That I’ll see everyone again soon and we can go back to creating wonderful memories together. This is just another step forward, isn’t it? We… can prevail and continue to be friends.

I know it. ”
