Who needs online career counselling in India?
Points on which career decisions are made.
Today most of the Indian choices make career choices without any proper assistance or guidance, Career choices of a student depends on factor like:
Taking advice from a relative just because they are doing well in their career field.
Parent’s imposition is the most common stereotype in India. Your opinion is not even counted in this case.
Following the trend of what others are doing and will count on most votes career options
Taking advice from seniors who are just grade above you they themselves are in deciding stage are equally blank as you are .
Talking to your teachers or mentors because they are the only sane person , you think can advise you the best but their advise is more academically influenced as they are not much aware about practical professional situations.
Internet is another source you think can provide information about everything. There are both advantages and disadvantage of this technology. Not all the sources are authentic not every fact explored is correct.
These aspects are faced by every India student in these situations they neither make an informed decision neither are they encouraged to do so. These paint point are the result of lack of awareness about “how to make a career choice? “
Convincing Counseling
In midst of all this confusion they have to other players of education sector most of these players are just trying to sell to students. These value chains contributing to education domain are basically capturing student with their fascinating course and schemes.
Coaching institutes – drop a year and join them and not even being sure if you will end up cracking a particular entrance and if that won’t happen what will, be your plan “B”
College/university - easily availed college of university within your reach and easily available course about which you might not have a slightest idea.
Study abroad consultants- you belong to a financially strong family then who cares to find out your aspiration , consultants will send you to top schools irrespective of how you end up there
Certification/ short term courses/ vocational training- Though these course are helpful and are the fastest way to become professional but if you are not able to define the right filed then it’s of no use
Grooming /finishing school/personality development/spoken English – to get enrolled in these it��s important to know what you are lacking in.
These institutes and centers play a vital role in grooming and preparing a student for their dream career and professional world but there is a step before them which is called “career cousnelling”
Career counseling is for all whether undecided or decided
Un -Decided students
Deferred – They are unable to specify, but at this stage they don’t need to make a choice they can either wait or can take initiative.
Developmental – Students who need to choose but lack self awareness and does not know how to use your interest
Multi potential -Students who have varied interests and talents and are exposed to multiple opportunities but cannot choose right one
Decided students
Confirmation – They are smart and are able to specify their choice but feel the need of confirming and clarifying
Implementation- These students are sure with what they have to do but they cannot map out the way to implement it
Conflict avoidance – They need help to reduce conflict and stress between multiple choices and selecting they need motivation to do what they aspire
Online Career counselling In India reduces the risk of saturation at work place , feeling stuck in mid of course you are studying , it stops you from dropping out and keeps you away from the unsatisfied career option . So no matter in which category you fall career counseling should be treated as compulsory activity.

Career queries, career confusion, dilemma etc. these are the terms used for career problem. since counselling is now a subject and interest of both public and private firms it has reached a new level, government is investing, it has beed placed in a budget ,organizations like NSDC are providing every possibilities of vocational and short term courses, CBSE had made it mandatory for schools to have counselors. Ministry of labour and skill is new formulated ministry to take care of skill work area so that more and more can make a proper career decision and can get in the right employment sector.
Ministry of human resource and development’s spirit lies in education sector it works at higher at well as primary level to improve and develop this sector it has introduced many plans and campaigns which are on going , MHRD took interest in concert of career counselling and found it beneficial. Such efforts are all in one direction to make the education system better. These centers and programs are working towards transforming the career and lives of student and individuals by making them efficient for employment possibilities.
