Appreciation post with every single Taylor Room I've done so far! ππβ€οΈπ©΅π©·π©Άπ€ππ€
The Taylor Swift Room and the Reputation Room won't be done until we have their Taylor's Version re-release (it would only be fair!).

I literally canβt stop thinking about how the literal FIRST lyrics we ever heard about Joe were βKnew he was a killer first time that I saw himβ and then spends every song on TTPD about how loving him was literally killing her. Idk idk idk

Taylor Swift is an amazing songwriter wbk but she also has these little idiosyncrasies that are so *her* like the intentional whisper of βold habits die screamingβ and how she cuts off βhow dare you say that itβs -β, and how βso long Londonβ mimics the chime of Big Ben, and this goes back, mind you. the lyric βmy stolen lullabiesβ trails off like she was choked saying the last word (that lyric deserves itβs own essay but I digress), and she begins Last Kiss with 27 seconds of instrumentals for -reasons- and just. Sheβs not just a songwriter, she really is just incredibly talented and creative on all fronts, we just got lucky that she chose music as her baby.

I just think TTPD is not an album you can understand and fully digest in one listen or even a few listens and that's what makes it so great. It is accessible in terms of its melodies and high-level storytelling but the lyrical details are poetic and complex. I'm really just so excited to spend a lot of time with this album.

the beauty of this album is that it really fully encapsulates what itβs like going from the devastating loss of a long term relationship, to the rebound you think is gonna fix it all, only to ultimately realize that you were using the latter to process your feelings about the former. the songs are so muddled, and the lyrics are relevant to both muses because her feelings were muddled and she had no idea where to put them or what to do with them. the rebound promised her everything she couldnβt get from the ex-love and she fell for it because she was so desperate to be really seen.

The thing that is striking me the most about this album is just how messy and human it is. Sheβs not holding anything back or trying to appear one way or another. Sheβs just letting it all out regardless of what anyone might say. She found that trying to be polished and keep all the ugly, imperfect, human stuff in to be stifling and just said fuck it I need to do this for me. This album was an exorcism for her.
