Welcome back to Smajor's Smexy Diamond Tour! :D I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is my first time experimenting with a fic like this (or of this rating) as a sort of Writer's Training Wheels. I like to think of it as Tink's NSFW Testing Grounds.

This is the third chapter in this series, so we've reached the halfway point! This one ended up being twice as hard and twice as long (heh) as the past two chapters combined...but I ended up being pretty damn proud of it! Have fun!

Chapter Summary:

It's approaching nightfall, and Scott has one last target in mind for the day. His visit to the Heart Foundation proves to be both fruitful and fun...but what else would he have expected from a place called Love Island? (He also ends up helping a certain blazeborn make progress on his task of the week. Two birds, one stone.)

Fic Summary:

When Scott read his secret task at the start of session seven, it seemed fairly straightforward. He was sure he could get it done without too much hassle. You must ask other players what you can do for them in exchange for diamonds, they set the amount and the task. Simple enough, right? You succeed when you have made a total of 10 diamonds from AT LEAST 3 other players. Again, simple. Easy. A few diamonds per deal, a quick trip around the server, and he’d have everything he needed before they even hit the break. You must accept their first offer, and cannot convince them to give you more diamonds. Simple. Right...? But then a stray dirty joke leads Scott down a very different route with his task than expected. Even if it had been a slip of the tongue, Impulse’s first comment had counted as the other half of Scott's deal...and Scott was already holding the diamonds. Granted, Scott knew he didn’t have to say yes. He could march right over to the Secret Keeper and hit fail, ending his task before it even began. He could. He wouldn’t.   OR: Scott's task is worded slightly differently, and an unexpected (and satisfying) opportunity falls into his lap.

So what if I told you there was a draft Flocks & Pyres AU of the AU fic, temporarily titled “The Bad Timeline”, where the events at the ranch didn’t go quite so well? 😅 One with a happy ending still, absolutely, but our boys go through a LOT more emotional heartache than in the canon timeline?

(I’m writing a scene and realized Mumbo is already in Jimmy’s flock AND Tango’s pyre prior to Double Life. Got me wondering about his relationship to other players. 🤔)

CHAPTER 2: After Tango comes to his rescue over the ravine, Jimmy has some revelations about where he stands with his soulmate, and Grian is there to help in a brotherly capacity.

woah guys. guess what. ive been doing more drawings.

specifically, ive been using a spray bottle for my water color, which has been pretty fun

also ive been trying to use a more limited/ cohesive use of colors. to practice more with values

(dont worry about the fact that the shapes dont really make sense. i was brain vomiting on the paper. as is my right. also this one was inspired by flocks and pyres. it wasnt a scene or anything (nothing specific at least) but i was thinking about the fic. ive reread it recently. i kinda want to redraw the scene i did draw instead of drawing a new one. ag)

And I know - look I know it doesn’t mean anything,” Jimmy was quick to say, shaking his head, the feathers around his ears pinning back. “I know full well it doesn’t mean a thing, but right now my instincts disagree, and my heart–” Jimmy’s eyes went wide and he choked on air, his jaw snapping shut in an instant. Tango’s heart was hammering in his chest. “Your heart?” he repeated, the words delicate like glass, with the potential to shatter at the slightest of misspoken syllables. “What does your heart say?” (...)

Guys, I have had. SO much fun working on future (past?) works in this series. When the next installment of Flocks & Pyres comes out - just you wait.

Chapter 5: Jimmy and Tango return to the ranch for some much-needed alone time before Grian is meant to stop by. Their plans for some quiet go a little astray when an unexpected guest arrives at their base.

When I tell you I've found my writing wind again, and From the Ashes is getting a new chapter sooner rather than later-

(Though I'll apologize in advance because uhhh I think it's ending up sadder than originally planned, but that's okay. Comfort always comes after the hurt. <3 Also the next fic in the series is far fluffier anyway!)
