Mommies & Babies, There’s a new bottle to look out for!

Travel Photo Diary #1yearandababyafter

I visited Las Casas when I was two months pregnant with Anthony and went back last weekend to celebrate my grandparents' anniversary with the whole family. This was extra special since Anthony was also there and was turning 5 months old. I'm so glad that I'm able to share these photos with you all & share with you how beautiful Las Casas is. Everyone should visit this, specially if you live in the Philippines. You'll be in awe with how beautiful the houses are and the scenery is just to die for!

Baby's Sensitive Skin

Oh no! So recently, I noticed something odd about Anthony’s skin. He’s been having bad rashes on his chest and I realized that he was allergic to a well known local baby care bath product. It didn’t matter if it was powder, soap, oil or lotion. It was sad that he was since he had tons of these products from my grandparents and my mom. So I decided since most of the skin care products I used on him were from Mustela, I had to buy their body soap. What I like about mustela is there arent any chemicals and is really pure. It’s really for babies with sensitive skin and it just locks in all the moisture and makes the skin of the babies very soft, fresh and well smooth. So there, that’s a new thing I found out. Good thing, there’s Mustela here in the Philippines, I’m so thankful.

Last Friday I attended one of the NARS workshops initiated by the Rustans Beauty Source group. I was also really excited for it because I knew that Janice Daoud would be on hand to personally give make up tips and secrets that she personally uses in doing celebrities as well. 

She first talked about skin care and how important it is to tone the face because even though you've already washed your face there's still dirt beneath the pores - so NARS' toner really helps remove the dirt that's hidden below your face. She then moves on to the NARS' optimal brightening concentrate that helps reconstruct the skin and is very hydrating to the face. The NARS' moisturizer is just beautiful, it delivers 87% hydration without any oil. When applying it, it feels very light. Next was the eye cream - the eye area is the part of the face where you notice what your age is. A lot of eye creams in the market usually just hydrates, but the NARS' eye cream is for puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and hydration. It's a good day and night cream as well. 

IMPORTANT TIP ABOUT THE EYE CREAM: use it on around your lip since its preventive for fine lines around the lip area when you get older.

Next thing she discussed was the NARS' primer. The weather here in the Philippines is very dry so most of the time us women have a hard time keeping our make up in place (am I right, or what?) so using this primer in the morning will make your make up stay till night. So for some of us who notice that the make up you put in the morning has faded, this is the perfect product for you! 

IMPORTANT: "TO NOT PRIME IS A CRIME"

NARS' Cream Foundation is one of the things I ended up buying at the end of the workshop. I wanted to try it out so I decided to get the refill. Tried it out yesterday and it looked like my face was air brushed so perfectly. It had a great finish. It has no oil at all! When putting the cream foundation just put a few patches on your face and tap it out with your fingers and there! 

NARS' Concealer is great for highlighting and contouring. It's a beautiful thing when you use it properly. This is for all women & all ages so this was invented for just that. It gives brightness to the skin and it has really good coverage. But lets all be honest, our concealer is our eraser. If you have pimples or anything you wanna hide all you need to do is get a great concealer and dab it on your face & your done.

Avent's Steamer/ Blender

I’ve had my eye on this particular Avent  product, their Steamer/Blender for months now and finally I was convinced to buy it for Anthony since it was also the time that Anthony could start eating pureed foods. So the timing was just perfect! So I purchased this in Baby Company in SM North Edsa and rushed to the supermarket to buy organic vegetables. 

The Recipe book that’s included when you buy it is really good and very helpful! I just love reading about it.

So I’m starting to steam it and I’m very excited! It’s supposed to steam for 20 minutes for broccoli & potatoes.

It’s actually working! So after, you flip the container so you can start blending the vegetables. 

Here is the end product! Broccoli & Potatoes for my little Anthony. I placed it on his Playtex Bowl & his Nubu spoon that changes color if it’s too warm.

and finishing the whole thing! yay! I’m so excited to make more recipes and steam more vegetables and fruits and then eventually some meat and chicken. Here’s to healthy eating!

Smashbox Bronzer Review

I'm really in to contouring and I've tons of various brands at home and this is one of my personal favorite bronzers! It's powdered and is really handy. Its also compact, plus it has a mirror in the container which makes it easy to use. It also has a great finish. I'm not a fan of shimmery bronzers, I like it when bronzers have a matte finish. So this is definitely a good brand for me and I encourage you to try it as well. You can buy this at any Beauty Bar shop here in the Philippines.

I'm heading out today & it's been forever since I wore heels this high. I got these perfect heels during the Trendsetter's bazaar & just fell in love with them. I can actually run in them, they're that comfortable. I'll be attending the NARS Workshop in Shangrila later at 2:30 PM and I just can't wait to grab some NARS products! Anyways, that's why I'm dressed up and in heels. It's so sunny outside, Have a great day everyone!

The Iconic Daniel Wellington watch

For over more than 2 years now, I've been wanting to buy this wonderful and great Daniel Wellington watch. I first saw in on the internet and instantly fell in love with it. I've been labeled as an impulse buyer so I decided around more than 2 years ago that I would wait a year till I get it (since let's admit it, the Daniel Wellington watch is a bit pricey). 

More than a year has passed and I finally decided to buy it since I realized the desire to want to have it never diminished and grew even more.  So what's so special about this watch you might ask? 

The Daniel Wellington watch is thin and elegant, it has a clean design, without too many features and would look great with different patterns and colours of the classic Nato straps. It is also a watch for every occasion, it doesn't matter if you're going to a formal event or you're wearing your distressed jeans and a simple white shirt - the Daniel wellington watch is a beautiful companion.  The Daniel Wellington watch is refined and minimalistic. As you can see it is also perfectly round. What actually made me fall in love with this watch, is that it had a classic and timeless design that I have not seen with any other watch.

Happy 49th Anniversary

Dearest Papa & Mama, 

You are the epitome of what a perfect relationship should be like. You always are the for each other no matter what and stand behind each other so strongly. It's amazing how two different people can be so compatible with each other. Your faith in God and your love for your family is what keeps you strong. I cannot be more thankful to have both of you in my life. I am so proud to call you my grandparents, my inspiration and my family. Even though I might disobey sometimes (well most of the time) you have treated me like your own child and I wouldn't want it any other way. Papa, I have always looked up to you for being such a determined, honest and understanding person. Mama, I have always known that you are the most loving grandmother anyone could have (even though sometimes you get mad at us a lot for not being careful), you never fail to make sure we always have food in the table and you always look out for us. Both of you have raised wonderful children and have loved your grandchildren as your own. The friends that you have cherish you and keep you in mind because you two are very reliable and thoughtful and that's such an amazing trait you both have. I dont know how else I could thank you for everything that you have done for this family but I hope you have a great time this weekend with the whole family in Las Casas. You deserve the vacation, you deserve the rest. It's our turn to spoil you. May you have many many many more years to spend with each other, because honestly I don't know how I can live a day without both of you in my life.

Who better to start a line of shoes than Sarah Jessica Parker?

So, Really - Who better than to start a line of shoes than Sarah Jessica Parker?  Her alter ego, Carrie Bradshaw, from Sex & The City a lover of shoes and all things fabulous wore tons and tons of beautiful shoes and I'm guessing SJP adopted that love too. Well who girl in the whole wide world wouldn't want good shoes right?

The collection also includes several handbags and a classic trench style coat in two colors. The shoes are made in Italy and were created hand in hand with Parker’s business partner George Malkemus, who is also CEO of Blahnik USA. This relationship between the famous shoe company with the SJP line has caused many budget conscious shoppers to consider the SJP shoes Blahnik’s at a nicer price. It was launched last February so I might be a little late on the news, but just to let you shoe lovers know! I wish I could grab some heels. That would just make my feet very very very happy! *fingers crossed*

Diana Vreeland - Style Icon

The other week I attended this fashion forum about Diana Vreeland located in SM Megamall’s Mega Fashion Hall. I honestly had little knowledge on who Diana Vreeland was and only knew she used to be an Editor in Harper's Bazaar & Vogue. 

Sitting in a crowd full of Fashion students (including myself) from different schools in the Philippines like School of Fashion & the Arts, SLIMS, La Salle, Benilde and UP Diliman I was taken away on how many people attended. The talk started at around 2:30 PM and I was ready to sit down and listen to the panelists. The panelists who joined in the forum were Lulu Tan-Gan, Amina Aranaz-Alunan (who by the way is our school director), Angela Alarcon,  Millie Dizon, Director Floy Quintos, Toto Gonzalez,Toots Tolentino and of course Cherie Gil. 

Apparently Vreeland was perceived to be like Anna Wintour, but really she was far away from the viciousness Wintour portrayed herself to be. Vreeland was never known as a mean person. Like Ms. Amina said "She created fashion as a fantasy, a visual storytelling,”  She was known to break the rules and to stand up for what she believed was right. I remember one of the things they talked about, something about Vreeland not being stuck in her time. Since she went through many different decades she still chose to change with the decades and follow the trends and that's what makes her fantastic. I remember one of the speakers saying that, that was the problem with our generation we never really got to experience that, that's why we're stuck in our own decade, in our own time. 

She brought out the best in people even if they weren't the prettiest ones like for example she loved the nose of Barabara Streisand, she adored it and even said " If you had a bump on your nose, it made no difference so long as you had a marvelous body and good carriage". Can you imagine, being able to look at the ugly things and being able to convince people that its something amazing and beautiful is a pretty hard job to do and yet people were moved by the work that she's done and the person that she was. 

Anyways, to close this post. After the whole forum, I thought to myself that I would've wanted to at least meet this amazing woman and maybe be able to work for her (that would've been such a dream come true for me). To be able to be in the same room as her and hopefully she can brush off some of her talent towards me and that would just be magical.

I see seashells on the seashore!

We were invited by our good family friend to stay over in his beach resort and of course we couldn’t pass up the opportunity of a good vacation. I’ve actually stayed in Matabungkay Beach Resort and Hotel when I was a kid, but this time it was extra special – Anthony was with us. It was his first ever beach trip and I was pretty excited. I bought him clothes from Mothercare 2 days before and made sure that they were ready for the trip. I also went overboard and bought him slippers that didn’t fit yet but oh what the hell, I think I have a shopping problem + they were really cute. So here’s a photo diary of the trip!
