What's your secret to matching blush and flesh tones, please bring me guidance ;_;
JKSAJDKAS i dunno what I am doing half of the time, but I’ll try my best to explain! I am by no means a professional in my eyes.
So, I colored an old doodle to demonstrate kinda the rule I go by for blush? The lighter the skin, the more orange I use for the cheeks. For darker, I use a dark red or redish purple.
Tumblr media
For shading, I try to use 3 different hues based on the flesh color. It’s almost the same color spectrum for the blush:
Tumblr media
• A shade that is slightly darker and slightly more saturated (I it use for base color)• Second shade is darker but WAY more saturated (typically a red or orange color depending on the skin)• The last shade is typically a purple color. For lighter skin, it’s less saturated. For darker skin, its more saturated.• For highlights, I simply just use a lighter color of the skin.
~ Just a little tip/suggestion!: For lighter skin, focus on the color of the shading. For darker skin, I like to focus on the highlights. Medium skin color can go either way ~
Or if you are too lazy to find those colors (like me sometimes), I just use the multiply blend mode. Its so much faster lmao
Lastly, I put lighting effects! It really pulls the skin together imo. This is the simple version of what I do:

Hope this helped!

hi! i really love your art style and the way you use color, but i have a really hard time with skin tones and not making my characters looking like weird colored blobs, do you have any tips on how to make skin tones look more realistic?
Hello! Thank you, I’ve had a hard time with skin tones as well, so I’m glad that you think my colours look nice!
One of the most important things I’ve learnt over the years - skin is not as bright/saturated as we think it is - skin itself is more dull, and less neon. When picking colours, its not the best to choose colours right at the top or to the side.
Tumblr media
Another sweet tip that I picked up is when shading, pick a colour that is slightly cooler and darker than the skin tone, and when highlighting, pick a colour that is slight lighter and warmer than the skin tone. It adds a lot more depth, makes it more life-like, as well as making it more visually interesting.
Tumblr media
This following tip depends on art style, as it’s something I do personally. Gradients/the airbrush are friends! Use them! I pick a pinkish brown colour that is close to the skin tone, and airbrush it under the eyes to the nose, on the jawline, and basically anywhere there is shading. Then i turn down that opacity. I think it gives the drawing life, and also reflects how in real life, the skin has a lot of colour variation.
I hope that was helpful! Of course, these are just tips and I’m not an expert. I know I’m not that great at explaining things so feel free to ask me more questions!

I tend to draw everything with the same soft pillow-like texture, so painting different surfaces is important practice for me ~ If you want to learn more about how I do this, check out my tutorial on painting different surfaces over on patreon!

All thanks to Clip Studio Paint's 3D dolls! These dolls have saved me a lot of time and effort in drafting and composing… I can't draw without them anymore🤣
And actually, the more I draw, the more I enjoy improving my drawing, so lately I've been sacrificing sleep and food to draw 🥹 I'll try to take care of myself to the extent that I don't get sick 🤣
Tumblr media
Aww, thanks for those kind words! I started studying recently because I love those gentle colors and gradations that can only be expressed by hand-painted watercolors, and I really enjoy painting them! There are so many things I want to paint in watercolor, so please keep an eye on my training 🥹💞
Tumblr media
I'm so glad so many people can relate to how attractive the Yandere and possessive Slytherins are 😆💕. And of course I would love to draw more! I'd like to draw some kind of spicy and dark smut, but I've already drawn a Yandere-like smut with this and that, so it's hard to come up with a new story 🤣 But I hope to draw something about them soon 💪
Tumblr media
Thank you! I'm not sure I understand what you are saying with my poor English, you mean how much more Yandere and Dark can ominis be?😳✨ In my headcanon, I envision Ominis as a less aggressive, conservative, self-sacrificing Yandere compared to Seb, but when, for example, the Gaunt family tries to harm MC or MC is in danger, I want him to be dark, cunning and aggressive to any extent!🤭🤭🤭 Sorry if I misread your English and gave a misguided answer 😭🙏
Tumblr media
Sorry I forgot to reply to your Ask for over two months 😭🙏. And I am very honored to receive your compliments! To be honest, I still find it very difficult to paint and represent these people who lived in Britain and Scotland at the end of the 19th century, but on the other hand, it's very interesting to learn about the western culture of the time! I will continue to draw various Ominis in the future 😆💪✨.
I would like to take this opportunity to say that I think there are a lot of Ask's that I forgot to reply to when I just created this Tumblr account. I was new to Tumblr back then and didn't really understand the Ask 😭 I'm sorry if anyone is disappointed that you took the time to send me an Ask. But I read all the texts I received with full of joy! Thank you so much after all!

Quick skin shading tutorial! This tutorial works for Adobe Photoshop
note: the layer style is “inner glow” NOT outer glow, although I encourage you to play around with layer styles and see what fits your style best!

Even though I don't like how the next Storyboarder update will be focused on the shot generator since I barely use it, I have to admit it's an incredibly useful tool.
Tumblr media
It's easy to use, it has a few model options (with sliding scales for body type) and pose presets, and you can draw over it. I 100% recommend it to anyone in need of humanoid references. It's free.
