Sadly, they actually can't recognize "motherly" whatsoever, as these poor little chibis all lost their parents very young, differing depending on who. So instead, they hide back under Nano's bed while the others try to convince the two Kokichis to go talk to Dam again, but they continue refusing out of terror.
