A job I was applying for mentioned I would be working with something called a “frosted flatwoods salamander”, which sounded positively delightful, so I looked them up and I could not be more pleased with what this beast looks like

just checking in to say hey and hope everyone’s been having a fun summer so far 🐣
(chestnut-sided warbler nest found in a post-burn regenerating forest)
#honestly I thought I’d be on here more once I got back from work but I have felt no draw to go on tumblr at all… nature is healing#and I’m about to head off to remote field work in BC until November so I won’t be on again until at least then 😅🫡#mine

just a reminder I’ll be mostly MIA on here till mid july and then entirely from mid august to november for field season 🌲☀️🦉🫡
#not because I’ve like. grown as a person or become more self disciplined and decided to reduce my screen time#but because I literally will not have cell service#also I do prefer to do as little technology use as I can when I’m camping too so#mine

‘Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?’
A grizzly pauses along the banks of the Atnarko River in British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest, where First Nation communities and bears have shared space. A new study suggests that humans and bears once had a closer bond that was based on reciprocity, not fear, Nat Geo reports. Resorts in the Canadian rainforest already offer responsible bear-viewing outings, in accordance with British Columbia rules. Researchers are hoping the findings of the study lead to richer wildlife watching experiences for travelers.
