Freija fought the urge to offer help, but that monumental effort meant she didn't manage anything else. "Oh, okay!" Sunny said for her, returning to her Guardian's side. "Good luck!"

"Good luck," Freija echoed stiffly.

"We had a really good chat, and we'd love to do it again some time!"

Freija was still apparently wrestling with the words in her mouth, and had to leave it at an awkward nod and wave.

"Let me know when you're headed to a concert!"

The Ghost moved politely over his hands to hover. "Ohhhh! That's interesting! Did they ever make that make sense? Did humans ever get infected? You said the Ghost and Guardian fed together somehow? Or how did that work?"

"Is there a way we could find these for her? Or would you guys like to hang out and watch them together when I'm in town? Or she can watch them when I'm sleeping and you guys can catch up later?"

"I can find them myself, thank you, Freija, but I'm enjoying listening. I think I would like to watch them with you some time, Ellis, or maybe some other horror movies?"

Sunny's bouncing became a gently wave in the air, dropping subconsciously to his chest and tilting back to look up at him as she listened intently. "That's fascinating! Are the Awoken zombies different somehow? Or was that a chronological fluke of the influx of Awoken people in the City?"

"Ooh! Interesting! Sort of. I don't know that I would want to be a Ghostking but I do like the idea of zombie Ghosts!"

For someone who had enough blood on her hands to drown the City, Freija was certainly uncomfortable talking about fake violence. She had her arms folded over her belly and watched the wall as she hummed.

Sunny didn't mind, though!

"So how did they make eleven movies? As in, how did it progress? Which one was your favorite? What happened in that one?"

"Ew!" Sunny giggled. "I like the idea of absorbing stuff through our shell, but I'd rather eat cookies." She bounced high and cartwheeled. "How could the Ghost-king ball kill people if it couldn't bludgeon anyone?"

"You can't be serious."

"Why not?"

".... I guess." Freija paced a small circle and looked away, as if turning her back on someone changing clothes.

"She doesn't like the idea," Sunny tilted curiously at Ellis, "but tell me?"

"What would happen to a Ghost?" both asked. "What does a Ghost do when it wants to eat brains? And we wouldn't rot either, that sounds like a potential plot device."

"A what?"

"A thing used to change the story. Could make destroying infected Ghosts a bigger deal in the movies. Especially if we got vicious! I know I could beat someone to death if I had to but if I just wanted to cos I was crazy, I'd need someone to stop me from doing it all the time!"

Freija rocked as if she'd been slapped. "Ah. Ew. Horror is right, I didn't even think of that. No thanks."

"That's usually the attitude you should have about it, yeah," Sunny agreed, turning back to Ellis and leaning closer. "Tell us more? How does the first one begin? Did they ever look at a Ghost getting infected without their Guardian?"

"I'm jumpy," she said. Her tones made it sound simple, just a matter of fact, but the disproportionate reaction to being startled made that an understatement.

"Fieldwork rewards swift, violent reactions," Sunny murmured, only sort of explaining.

"I'm fine," she repeated a third time. Her breath was steady and her temperature was back under control, so it seemed true enough. "Eating brains, that's the part I've never heard before. Why do they eat brains?"

She didn't hurt him; she simply placed him on the floor on his feet, eyebrow twitching as she scowled. She noticed he answered her question but she couldn't remember it and now her heart was pounding and the words were getting too crowded to sort out.

"Hey, Ellis, stop for a second," Sunny said, whirling around the pair. "Freija needs to breathe."

"I'm fine but he'll have to say it again," Freija said to Sunny, obviously not wanting to interrupt. She seemed okay, but the spike in her body temperature was now leaching into the air around her. Her breathing was getting steadier but she was holding every few breaths for several seconds until it slowed into uniform time. "I'm fine," she insisted to her Ghostbefore she focused back on Ellis. "I do need you to say that but again. Dead but animated, I knew that one. What's the rest?"

Freija liked the "explanation" though she'd repeat her question when he finished) but then he tried to scare her and succeeded.

She didn't hit him, but she did swing.

She turned the motion and grabbed his shoulders, intending to lift him a few inches and put him back in front of her.

2 months later, and with permission from @beyond-the-light , I am finished painting the Shiro-4 render.

"A concert? Actually, no thanks. You guys can go, concerts are too loud and crowded."

Sunny tick-tocked at her and Freija's shoulders hunched defensively. "It's a whole different kind of loud and crowded, combat is only loud for a few minutes and crowded occasionally, it's not hours of being surrounded constantly by a quintillion people making noises that range from loud to screaming with actual amplifiers around for the occasion."

Sunny wheeled and flipped. "I am independent when we're home, I don't need her to come with me." She wheeled again. "Let me know when you're going, if we're not busy we can come home for the occasion. I'll wear my Electronica Shell!"

"Meh." Freija didn't want to let this one continue, swatting at Sunny a little harder than intended. "I can ask again later. So, Ellis....." She hesitated, then she smiled. "If you had gotten to name yourself, what would it be?"
