like 😭 not to downplay the fact that jason is as respectful of the healers as possible, that he values their work very much & is grateful to them, but he is just. such a difficult person to treat because he very very VERY rarely admits he needs help & that behaviour is borne from years of putting everything else above his own needs, and that he taught himself to think ‘i don’t have time to be hurt / ill, not when i have stuff to do that other people are relying on me to do, so i cannot be wasting time on bed rest or anything silly like that’

even when dying or injured to a point where dying is a possibility, his first thought is ‘but i can’t fuck this up for the rest of them’ and it’s neither healthy nor acceptable to behave like that in camp, where there is no harm in going to the healers to be appropriately treated for things :(

jasons a complex little cookie and under the many layers of Stalwart Soldier there is a very worried little lad who thinks vulnerability makes him useless, and therefore not wanted, SO . :(

i just feel like jason would be such a PAIN to treat, as a doctor. he’s obstinate in that “I’M FINE!!!! go help that other person instead!!!” way (eg, that time he got IMPALED. THRU THE CHEST. and refused to admit it hurt while getting it bandaged bc he didn’t wanna worry the others) and he’s a HUUUGE baby about taking medication/seeing the healers if he’s ill (he’ll do it BUT HE WON’T LIKE IT >:C)

so he is. understandably. kind of a difficult patient to deal with
