I wake to the sound of rain. I look out my window then slowly slip out of bed. I feel the cold wood floor on my warm feet as I walk to the kitchen to make myself a coffee before I head to the bookstore down the street. I finish my coffee then get dressed into a pear of light wash Mum jeans and funky colour sweater. I brush out my freshly washed orange hair, slip on my doc martens, grab my tote bag and head out the door.

I walk on the wet concrete listening to the fall leaves rustle gently in the wind. I get to the bookstore and try to find my phone in my tote bag I finally look up at the cashier my eyes light up she gives me a gentle smile and I smile back, she’s the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen I try to act normal so I awkwardly laugh then ask what book I’m looking for she shows me to the book and picks it up then hands it to me I slowly take it from her and we both look up at each other looking in her dark brown eyes we both smile and I say “thank you”we both walk to the counter so I can check out.

I walk out of the bookstore feeling amazing. I danced my whole way home. The whole day goes by and I can’t get her out of my mind. Night falls and I eventually fall asleep.

I wake up at the same time and get dressed into some casual clothes, grab my tote bag, slip my shoes on and walk out of the door full of excitement hoping the girl from yesterday is there again. I made it to the bookstore out of breath. I basically ran. I was so excited but there was someone different at the counter. All that excitement falls. I'm devastated but then I see her emerge from one of the isles. I let out a sigh of relief and all that excitement flows back in. I walk into another isle and she follows me she asks if I need any help I said I’m okay she starts to walk but I say “wait” she turns and looks at me “do you want to go get coffee sometime” she smiles and says

“sure” I’ve never felt so good in my life

“how about after my shift you can wait here if you want I’ll only be 15?” She says

“sounds great also I didn’t catch your name”

“kiana.. kiana Madeira”

“Tayla Jones,” I replied. I go and sit on one of the reading chairs and wait for kiana to finish.

We walk out together “so you like reading?” Kiana asked

“Yeah I do! I actually write as well what about you” I reply

“I’m actually an English major at forsbree university”

“That’s amazing!” I say in astonishment. We make it to the cafe and take a seat. We order our coffee. We talked for almost 2 hours. It felt so effortless. We finish up and I ask her if she’d like to come back to my place. She agreed so we laughed and talked the whole way home. It was so easy to talk to her. We make it home and sit on the couch. We continued to talk and I stopped and said “you’re so pretty” she smiled and leaned in to kiss me. I kiss her back. It's like I saw sparks, something I’ve never felt before. We finish kissing and I snuggle up to her. We turn the tv on and we fall asleep.

The morning came and I looked beside me and Kiana was gone. Confused, I walked into the kitchen to see her making us coffee. I walk up behind her and wrap my arms around her waist and hug her. She turns around and I move her dark curly hair off of her face and kiss her ever so gently. She continues to make coffee and I sit on the couch as Kiana brings me the coffee. We snuggle up together and turn the tv on for a while.

I turn on some music and grab kiana's hand pulling her off the couch I start dancing and kiana laughs she joins me and we both dance and sing around the living room. I feel so free and comfortable around Kiana, I said “we should go get some food”

“Definitely I’m starving,” Kiana exclaimed. We headed down to a restaurant dancing on the sidewalk the whole way there. We make it there and thump down onto the chairs. We laugh out loud while people stare at us. We order food and quickly eat as we haven’t eaten all day. We finish up and walk out. “Look there’s someone playing the guitar it’s my favourite song” kiana says

“Let’s go dance!” I say

“No no I can’t look how many people” kiana denied

So I grab her hand and start dancing. We both laugh hysterically while people watch us then I grab kiana's face and kiss her we make out right in front everyone. We finish then run away laughing on our way home. Once we get home we kick of our shoes and lie on the bed

“What a day” I say out of breath

“What a day” Kiana repeats, looking at me and smiling. We continue to make out things get heated and one thing leads to another. it was amazing I knew kiana was the one as soon as I saw her you could say love at first sight. We finally fell asleep as we had a big day.

Morning comes, and Kiana wakes me by running her fingers through my slightly tangled hair. I look at her and smile. I put my hand on her jaw and rub her soft face. “I have to go to work,” Kiana says with a frown. I frown at her, sad that she has to leave since we had so much fun. She stands and kisses me on the forehead. I grab her hand as she walks off and kiss her on the lips. She smiles and walks away.

Weeks later

“Kiana I was thinking…”

“What’s up”

“I was thinking.. um do you want to move in” I said with a gentle smile

“I thought you’d never ask” kiana replied
