One day in 2021/2022 i really logged off ao3 and never logged back in huh. Wild. All i have now is cnovels to keep me entertained.

Only go there to post a chapter and bounce. Used to be such a big part of my life. As of now makes it 3-4 years since.

I was briefly in a discord server shortly after it was made for a specific pairing I was into. While in the car one day, my phone began to blow up because some drama was going down between one person and the mods of that server and after seeing how poorly everyone was handling it, and how rather than muting or booting the person stirring up trouble, the mods were actively arguing with them across multiple channels, I was like "Ah no thanks." and left. I run servers myself and it just seemed massively mishandled. If a moderating team can't command control of a situation because they're not willing to use the tools at their disposal then it's not a space I want to be part of. I've been involved in too many Mods Let People Get Away With Shitty Behavior Because They Don't Wanna Be Seen As Fannish Dictators situations over the years. Hard pass. My gut instinct turned out to be right, every few months some new drama pours out of that server, and it's always the same thing of One Loud and Annoying Group being Big Mad about Unserious Nonsense another Group is doing or not doing. Calling out BNFs. Being whiny. A nostalgic brand of fandom wankery, to be sure. In the past week, yet again, something new has arisen-- Because someone dared to leave the toxic environment of that server and focus on making things that make them happy with their friends. And... it's like watching an on fire cruise liner pass me by in my little fishing dingy every time. Why do you keep setting your own boat on fire, folx? Come on now. I have to wonder how people have the free time to make all these callout posts and be so angry about stuff that genuinely does not matter. But at the same time, there's something almost comical about that fact that when it comes to fandom, some things genuinely never change.
