Happy New Year! 2021 saw more than its fair share of surprises - even still - it came with new friends, new places, a new appreciation for the word ‘patience’, and a WHOLE bunch of new music… We’re all in for better times and new challenges in 2022. Many of you who have met my Mum will know she’s pretty great at whatever she picks up. She painted this the other day as a surprise to celebrate my final shows for the year. She’s the best. Every year for about the last 10 years - sometime before Christmas - our family and a few willing friends get together to catch up and make some music. We’re not all musicians and most of us don’t even know what songs we’ll be singing until we turn up on the day, but it’s always full of joy and so many happy surprises and we always end up with something that’s just perfect. This year was extra special. After so long of not being able to make any gatherings happen, filling our little house with music was just what the doctor ordered. This is a sneak peek. It’s been a bumpy ride these last few months - who am I kidding… these last 2 years 😅 - but I’m so excited to get back to doing this with you all again next month. For a little over 12 years now, I have had the honour and the privilege of being this extraordinary humans’ best friend. We first met playing opposite one another in a musical in high school. Our characters literally ran off together into the sunset at the end of the show, however IRL, I was convinced Christina was well and truly out of my league. To my surprise though, we became really good friends. Hearing Christina sing for the first time though changed everything. I can still remember picking my jaw up off the floor listening to her rehearsing ‘Songbird’ by Fleetwood Mac for an exam. It was like someone had taken all the air out of the room. All that was left was her. We orbited one another for next few years and a few months before Christina left for Europe on exchange, everything came to a head. On the 24th of October 2009, we sat by this very river at 3am and addressed the magnetic pull that we’d been feeling for each other over the preceding months. It was the best feeling I will ever experience in my life. A LOT happened over the next decade, but 10 years to the day, we were hand fasted, and on the 26th of October 2019, we were married. Christina was sung down the aisle by the unobtainably gorgeous @emma_birdsall to none other than the song that started everything - ‘Songbird’. I feel so privileged to play a part in one of the best love stories I will ever witness. You are the sun, the earth and everything in between. Happy Anniversary week, Sweet Thing. 💛HAPPY DAFFODIL DAY!!💛 It’s been such an honour to be an ambassador for @cancercouncilnsw over the last few years. They do such amazing, wide ranging work for those who have been touched by cancer and to be able to support them in any way has always been such a privilege. These photos tell a small piece of the story. Today is about hope and possibility. Last year, Cancer Council provided more than $60 million towards research. That’s just mind blowing. If you’re able to support in any way today, please do. Mostly smiley, sandwich in hand, courtesy of one of many beautiful people surrounding us in that time. I was getting my blood filtered in preparation for a potential stem cell transplant. Not fun.
