I can't remember how much of this is implied canon or my own interpretation, but I fully believed that Chiron recognized Percy was a son of Poseidon from the fountain incident with Nancy Bobofit, knew that a child of the Big Three being claimed would be a total shit show, and simply chose not to say a word about it

Buy physical media. Buy CDs. Buy records. Buy tapes. Buy books. Buy physical artwork or prints. Take photos of yourself and get them developed at a photo processing booth. Write your thoughts down in a journal. Why? Because as this world get more digital, what's physical will slowly but surely disappear. There will be less things you can touch and feel, and more things that you can see and not touch. You can post all the digital pics you want on social media...nothing is assured and those pics and those platforms could be gone in an instant. An album on streaming platforms will never be the same as the original album in your hand with the liner notes, as versions of that album can get removed, and/or replaced with re-recorded material (since the artist doesn't own their masters). Books go out of print. And staring at a jpeg (no matter how much you paid for it *cough cough* NFTs) of an artwork will never be the same as owning the actual artwork or a print of it.

Preserve these things. If not for yourself, then for future generations.

imagine being percy jackson for all your childhood feeling like and being told that you dont fit in anywhere and youre weird and broken and then you lose the one thing the one person who kept you going this whole time who stood by you and then they throw you into yet another place where youre supposed to belong but even there your 'father' doesnt want you so yet again youre stuck with being the misfit but slowly you carve out a place or yourself just a little nook that you can exist in for the time being in the heremes cabin until suddenly you 'father' decides he does want you (for his own means) just enough to pull you out of this little nook youve carved for yourself but not enough to be there at all and now youre back to being alone except this time you dont have the one person who you could fall back on to fall back on

The hype around purchasing physical copies of games and movies (DVD’s, blu-ray, etc.) because streaming services can just pull media down, forever if they’d like, and still own the rights is insane.

It’s happened with Netflix’s “Hush”. An original that can’t be legally viewed anywhere at the moment.

It got me thinking. This is probably why a lot of people in the 40’s and 50’s would memorize absurd amounts of information at school. They truly knew grammar rules and complex math equations because nothing could be looked up.

Einstein famously said that you don’t need to know anything if it can be looked up. And now we have EVERYTHING in the world at our fingertips. We don’t know much, but w/e we DO want to know, we can look up.

Like streaming services, what if our access to this info is taken away from us one day? How hard will it hit a generation so used to it? I know libraries and books will likely still be around (fingers crossed), but man, it gets you thinking about the similarities.

i spent THIRTEEN YEARS waiting for an age accurate casting of percy jackson but now that it's here and i am no longer a child looking at heroes my age, i'm just plain HORRIFIED on behalf of these children.

For some reason I’m still seeing people being racist about the Disney+ PJO show, so if you’re out there hating on Leah for being a black Annabeth, here’s what you need to realize:

A big part of Annabeth’s character is how she felt she was never taken seriously because of the way she looked. In the books, it was specifically because she was blonde, and blondes were seen as dumb.

Well, that stereotype is much less common today, and most blondes aren’t really looked down upon. But you know who is? People of color. Especially young black girls. Leah’s Annabeth will still have to deal with prejudice because of how she looks.

Annabeth’s key trait wasn’t her hair color, it was how she proved to be the best despite how others judged her. It just so happens that her skin color is now what causes her to be judged.

I think Leah is perfect to play Annabeth in today’s world. Just how young blonde girls used to be empowered by book Annabeth, I know Leah’s Annabeth will teach young black girls that they can be everything she is.
