Sitting back and watching Matthew Tkachuk (at club E11EVEN ) just kind of absorb it all, he did a little speech, the ra-ra stuff but he mostly spent the whole night sitting back, watching Brad Marchand, watcing Sam Bennett, watching a very drunk Rodrigues just everybody accepting all the love, (he got enjoyment & satisfaction waching them having enjoyment) he was like the father of it all sitting back and watching but he's not even that old. That's when I realised this town is so connected with him, the guy is like for the lack of a better term like everybody's daddy right now!

Steve Goldstein on Matthew :

"He's such an awesome guy, treats every great, even as a broadcaster he treats me the same way he treats a team mate. It's amazing to watch whether your security at the arena, the people that work on the plane, he's a terrific guy he learned that from his dad, all he told them two boys - Matthew & Brady, play hard and treat everybody with respect, and both kids really do that, amazing trade by Bill Zito to get Matthew Tkachuk here and in a lot of ways he's the franchise turner they always were a good team before, a good offensive team, but he brought the juice, he brought the energy, he brought the swag to it - then we find out he's playing I don't even know at what percentage maybe 60% maybe 70% at times, may need surgery? Just an unbelieveable person, unbelieveable player and a guy the whole team rallies around.

It seemed that was the moment when they signed Tkachuk that seemed like the moment when the players started taking the Florida Panthers seriously...

Steve Goldstein:

He could of come in and could of forced the trade that he wanted to another team, he could of demanded 'I want 11 million, I need 12 million,' he came in here paraphasing obviously 'I know Barkov & Bobrovsky make 10 million I'm going to be just under that - that's fine' so he's making 9 and a half, so that also sets the tone on the team, it's about team, it's about winning. If thee is one less zero in the bank account at times, so be it, that kinda slotted everybody in that's why Sam Reinhart - they were able to get that done at 8 and a half.
