Once again I see people online describing war as this "dying somewhere far away in a trench for the lies of your government" thing.

Fuck you. War at it's worst is a thing that comes to your home and rips your life apart. It's men who come to kill you no matter how virtuous and pacifistic you've been. It's your city being destroyed, so you don't recognise your neighbourhood anymore. It's families being wiped out without anyone left to bury them. It's disease and poverty everywhere because both the infrastructure and the means of production have been destroyed. It's a giant festering wound in place of everything you've known and loved.

Some people live in a relatively safe society so long they cannot imagine the scale of horror inflicted by these "fools sent to their deaths". But it's easier for them to imagine themselves as the ones pressing the trigger, what does it tell us about the countries they live in?

as a librarian, i can't encourage you enough to check out stuff you don't think you'll get around to reading

like other institutions, at the end of the day we have to use numbers to justify our existence and inform our financial decisions

check out that novel by that author you like even if you know there's no time to finish it. check out a movie you like even if you can't watch it. check out a sewing machine even if you don't have time for a project. we don't check if you finish anything, and it all adds up.

support your local library by checking out things you don't need

When I just saw this information I couldn't stop crying thinking about it, and now my heart aches. They were the same age as me, I know for a fact like any other teen they dreamt of their future, who they would want to become, what to achieve, create, wondering if they meet those in the future they can call friends, wondeting if it'll get better when they grow up, maybe wished to leave that terrible place or maybe wanted to stay. How could anyone let this happen, why were they discharged from hospital so easily? And the school, we all know why. I hate to think about how, even with all the progress made, these things still happen.

I hate everyone who have ever committed such vile hate crimes, I wish them in prison and hell. But i would never go down to their level. But I also blame the government, the school, and even those bigoted online accounts that teach their followers hate. In this case LibsOfTikTok, who targeted the teacher of this school, who supports lgbtq+, so they had to leave their position. It must have been the push for this to happen. I think their tiktok account has been thankfully deleten. But i have no idea about Twitter or any other. Please check and mass report them if it still exists. Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".

The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?
