The NBA is such an interesting case study.
Practices many of the elements of business / market economy.
And yet.
Its a closed ecosystem.
Just 30 teams.
Geographically spread and dependent on region / community / city / state in which they are located
Someone needs to step in and make creative arts into the NBA / MMA
You could have weight in / PayPerView / promotional checkpoints.
Walk out of screen / projector Tunnel.
Live timed creative challenge - like TopChef or Project Runway
or WWE/ UFC / Boxing like showdown
Presentation is (recorded) you pressing play, you’ve already made what your debuting.
vs.
Performance is you (live), making it in front of people. not prerecorded
NBA from a team / collaborative / crew/ unit / partnership.
Corporate Sponsorship. Like NFL beer, cars, insurance, food.
NBA sneakers, tech,
How about the idea of a roster.
Owner / Label CEO
General Manager / Art Director, Brand
Coach / Record Producer / Composer
Player / Artist / Singer / Writer
Role Player / Engineer / Beat Maker / Instrumentalist
International Teams vs. City Community Creators
Professional Club Teams vs. Record Label (OVO / TDE)
Cool.
™ out.

Nov Week 1 Column
Whats up world.
Just got back from DC.
Went down Saturday just got back tonight (Monday 11:30)
Anyway. Before I over think this and become to introspective about the meaning and afflict myself with artists plight.....I’m just gonna type.
Its funny how the internet birthed some careers/ influencers/ gate keepers and seemly ruined other. For example Magazines used to hold weight, before the news cycle was instant reaction, news breaks and fan commentary - consumers would digest material at a much slower rate. An issue of a magazine comes out 10 times a year. A great sports columnist might only have a weekly column or a political cartoonist a weekly cartoon.
Anyway, I’m trying to make it a weekly thing where I write at least one article. It can be about any topic or theme I just gotta write it. And there's gonna be some objective or thesis in the writing. It can just be journal entries or brainstrorming sessions, as anyone will tell you I love stickie notes!
What tone or perspective should I write this in? Who am I addressing. Am I writing to an audience or to future me? Someone else? Is this just something to do every week and then collect the top 10 best and publish. Andrew my brother keeps encouraging me to join his book writing online community? I know weird and nerdy but he got me thinking, especially because I am in the process of recording an album. He suggested writing a book on the PA profession from a new perspective, basically not a lot of preexisting literature. As soon as you write it you essentially become an “expert” because there's limited material to it. Of course you need to have it w verified sources, edited and formally published.
Few quick thoughts.
My favorite writers off hand would be Bill Simmons, Hank Moodie, Tim Ferris Neil Rolling Stone.
I want to focus on creative optimization.
That is what it sounds like.
Think of how much sports science and fitness optimization have grown within the last 10 years how about 2 years. So much more information. Greater presence of science backed research. Data points, analytics, ergonomics.
Diet, jumping technique, body strength.
Watching tape, practicing technique, getting in reps.
Drew Hanlen, Tim Grover, Trainer from Miami.
Rick Rubin, (gets approached by artist, or responsible from record label)
Jimmy Iovine (engineer, middle man between record and artist)
DJ Kladed (bring it together, synthesis)
Beatles (whoever produced that)
Kanye
The following are all art director types, looking at things from a sonic, production standpoint, visual point, merchandising, art direction, brand
ASAP Rocky / Travis Scott / Tyler the Creator / Wiz (artists)
vs
guys like J Cole, Wale are more focused on the rap. The competition aspect of it. Those guys are more (writers.)
Im gonna publish now so I don't lose anything...more to come
