Ferris smiled small to herself as she crept behind the teacher and through the aisle to get to her seat beside Kat. The bell was about to ring but Ferris got the tail end of her friend’s latest complaint of the misogynistic patriarchy and didn’t bother getting her books out as Kat turned to another victim. It was barely 10am and Kat was fuming. About what? Ferris wasn’t 100% because Kat wasn’t facing her and today her hearing aids decided they weren’t going to be dried out enough to function properly so there was a water logged effect to every word but  [ … ]  knowing Kat, it was something trivial and overdramatized.

“I see I haven’t missed the morning’s attack on the patriarchy,” Ferris joked with a breezy and bemused smile, a low and quiet chuckle bubbling through her words as her hands flexed tiresomely.
