i've been watching a sign of affection and i noticed whenever itsuomi asks yuki any question he always says "do you or do you not?". instead of "do u wanna go here?" he says "do u wanna go here or do you not?". maybe im over analysing but it's like he always lets her know that she can always say no to things she doesn't wanna do and always gives her that option of backing out. it feels important to point this out. he really cares about her wants and needs and things she wants to do willingly and makes sure she isn't doing it out of any obligation.

the funniest part of utsukushii kare is when koyama gets protective because kiyoi calls hira a creepy stalker and hira panics because like. how’s he supposed to explain that kiyoi’s not being hostile that’s just his nickname for him

You don't need a wingman, you need the old man in the hospital who believes her to be your wife.

I'm watching hidden love so I decided to go through the tumblr tags and saw a lot of posts where people are weirded out by the use of "gege" (brother) in the main leads relationship. I'm just here to explain if anyones interested. so in most asian countries we don't use first names for people, older people especially, there are certain titles and labels that we use, but no first names. being from india, i see a man selling fruit on the street I'd call him "brother" (bhaiya in Hindi), i take an uber and I'll address the driver as brother as a well. same goes for any guy who's older to me, i call them brother because we simply don't use the first name to address people. it's considered disrespectful to do that to older people.
so before calling sang zhi and duan jiaxu's relationship weird, consider this. and also, they are no way related to each other just because she called him gege (what else is she supposed to call him anyways) it doesn't mean he's in any way her actual brother or that they consider each other brother sister now. That's not how it works. calling non relatives your "brother" doesn't actually mean anything, it's a matter of respect in one's culture.
don't take her calling him gege (brother) in a literal sense because it isn't implied that way.

liminal spaces make me Fucking insnae. why wouldn't I? A place in time is captured with every essence of human life stripped away from it. These photos are barren and empty, they're trapped between events, with the ghosts of what could have been haunting these empty spaces. And yet they are so utterly organic and alive.
You feel a presence sometimes, lingering in the background, but it isn't a smiler or death moth or whatever backrooms entities those reddit threads create- the room itself is alive. It has become its own character, seething with loneliness. So many people stare at them with the same feelings one might have with a corpse, like tearing open the flesh of a corridor and gaping at its guts. The dark backyard of your childhood home is staring back at you, bleeding out on your phone screen.
It's uncanny to see such everyday places put on such display where we are forced to face manmade constructions that have become so much bigger then us. It is so easy to get lost inside them, to delve into the rabbit hole of images filled with waterparks and houses left to rot. It's no wonder we give them names such as dead malls, its like passing by the graveyard of architecture.

Sure it's fun to experience creepy environments: is an entity gonna pop out? Is something strange going on or am just being influenced by the stories I've heard about this place? What is that thing over there?
Most people like to be spooked every once in a while.
But, as a person who also has anxiety, I really appreciate how liminal spaces are mostly about the appeal of being alone, between one state and the next.
Do you want to go back? Sure. Do you want to run across this massive empty corridor? Go ahead. Do you want to just sit at the edge of a pool inexplicably surrounded by flowers and nothing else? Why not.
It's your little world to explore.

A friend requested that I post some ORV thoughts on Tone and Themes from discord. I have edited the messages for better organization and clarity below:
There are a lot of quotes that you could argue are the culmination or distillation of ORV. You could also argue that ORV itself is not reducible to a single quote because of the sheer enormity of it, and how that size is a component of the story itself. But if I were to convey the specific melancholy of ORV-- my most fundamental read on the Feeling of ORV-- I would choose one quote to do so.
I’d fall back on, “In a world turned upside down, where monsters were rampant, we still had to clear the snow.”
Throughout the immense battles of good vs evil or gods and demons, ORV remains a story about people doing the things they have to in order to continue living.
And there is a distinct melancholy to that: the grief stricken “is it just this forever,” everyone being a regressor, and the mundane tragedies of struggling on in a world that will build a narrative around you regardless of your input or desires. However, all of these things are part and parcel to ‘surviving’ in a ruined world
It's about taking steps forward, regardless of cataclysmic tragedy and world-rending stakes. The melancholy of a 'nevertheless'
It’s a hopeful kind of melancholy. Reaching out and trying again and again. Leaving a mark on the wall because someone might read it. Regressing so that one day you won’t have to. Iterating and changing and trying again and again. It’s about making attempts.
It's about finding ways to survive, even if you've forgotten a few.
