Thinking about the cat headcannon led me into an AU?? Or at least, a really cool idea to build on my current headcannon. It’ll probably be an AU.

So, one notable part of my cat curse headcannon is that my C!Fail is a very catlike catboy. He reacts to a lot of the same things a cat would (ex: gets very very hyper when around catnip, has a bit of a natural repulsion to water, and sharp hearing and eyesight) but he’s got his human mind still- which isn’t exactly used to all the cat stuff.

For example- my headcannon for the longest time is that some of his moveset that we see in-game is more of his cat subconscious doing it than his human self. Like, he’ll do something catlike and then shortly after is like “wait why did I do that, and now I’m embarrassed.” He has a difficult time controlling his mind during some situations which sounds completely terrifying good lord- the horror

So that got me thinking

What if it was an actual horror

Like, he is actively FEARING just going absolutely full feral at any moment, losing any control over his mind and body and just bringing harm to those he cares about.

Though I imagine these come in random uncontrollable bursts, the chances of them happening are increased when he’s angry or stressed. Sort of like the cat part of him’s defense mechanism, combined with his human mind not knowing what’s going on and getting stressed as a result.

He has no control of his mind, goes full feral cat and tries of tear everything to bits- most be could do would maybe be like a slight change in facial expression.

And besides, it’s a curse for a reason hehehe :)

If this was the case, imagine how hard it would’ve been for him to hide it during world 2 and 3- like, in world 2 his teammates are literally children and his world 3 teammates hate him already (and plus in world 3 he is actively trying to hide anything related to him being cursed) and after the point where everyone is aware of his curse he’s still always trying to make sure he doesn’t harm anyone. (And I mean ANYONE. ☹️)

You bet this definitely heightened his fear and was definitely a reason why he blamed the curse for all of his actions he did in S1

Fun little idea for angst content, not really sure if I’ll add this to my interpretation or if it’ll remain an AU (thinking maybe the ladder over the former but I could still add this to my headcannon) but yeah, really fun to think about. :)

Now’s a better time than ever to yap about my massive C!Fail headcannon

basically explaining my own funny interpretation of the cat thing, my take on the stupid cat that I thought way too much about for three years straight and especially after watching Season 1.

Since Chat isn’t exactly a character in the series in 2018, my general headcannon is that Fail pretty got cursed to be a haha funny catboy.

You know that part where you lose your job and teammates? Bro didn’t even get the choice to pick a new job, now he’s a cat. That’s the basis of it. The idea is simple.

So then I decided to make it much, MUCH more complex. :)

HEADCANNON JUMPSCARE GO-

•Given that he was previously just a (mostly) normal guy, now he has to adjust to the sensory of a cat and it DEFINITELY took a toll during the arc of world 2. He was likely very sensitive to flashing lights and loud noises, and sometimes got headaches from having to deal with sharp cat eyesight. (How he managed to put up with it given his party members in world 2 is beyond me.) By Season 2, he’s pretty much got used to it, having a bit of a old and jaded attitude about it.

•In fact, I headcannon he didn’t lose his cat job in world 3- he just put some random tank armor over it and tried to desperately hide being a cat. So desperate that he even slept with the armor oh good gods Fail no please don’t do that. The armor would later get destroyed while he was trying to rescue his party members, leaving him to just accept the job he was stuck as. But then again, his teammates sort of had a hunch that something was up given how weird his eyes looked and how his movement appeared more cat-like. But don’t worry, the remains of his old tank armor were reused by the otherworldly entity (with an IQ of a child) he freaking hates so it’s all good.

•His old ties to the pop star job actually appear a lot in my headcannons of him throughout Season 1. He wears a lot of his old pop star gear that he refits for his new job, even wearing an old leotard during the dark lord fight PURELY out of spite and wearing a fancy tuxedo while looking for sky scraper gems. He also does training practice via dancing! (although barely anyone sees that, shush that’s a secret of his) :]

•Which is really funny considering that fact comes back to bite him years later during the ACNH in the form of an iteration of himself that looks exactly like how he did during his pop star days. Even acts a bit like him too sometimes. Quite scary. Yes, that’s my headcannon take on Rapper Fail. ehehehehe…

•and yes he’s still a catboy during ACNH. he is pretty much a cat for eternity. he just ruffled his hair up a bunch so his ears weren’t visible (and went under a different alias).

• I think that the out-of-body catboy experience he had to endure definitely added fuel to the fire that was his ego problems. I do think that him having this insecurity of his appearance as a result of being cat is an underrated-ish part of his character- combined with the knowledge of him being also very ego-driven is VERY INTERESTING. THE ANGST POTENTIAL, IT IS THERE-

•Although after the timeskip he reacts a lot differently to the curse, definitely approaching a more “yeahhhhh, I kinda deserved it lol” approach. Doesn’t mean he still likes being a cat, he’s still very bitter about it. This approach does make him react better to some of the stuff that happens to him in Season 2 like the dungeon, but it also makes his reactions to some things a LOT worse, especially when he reunites with his old teammates and a certain other person..

Uhh I don’t remember anything else so I’m ending it off here for now. Congrats on reading the whole yap session, I hope you enjoyed it.
