SoW updates

I'm so sorry on the radio silence lately! I've been going through some rough writer's block recently, except for the fact that I can think of ideas but not write them that well.

I'm currently working on the next four chapters of Sow, which will continue to go in the akaza-kyojuro-akaza-kyojuro pattern that i've established.

If this changes, i'll make sure to update again!

Also, I moved into a new place, one friend moved back, and then my other friend moved FIVE FUCKING HOURS AWAY. I'm also back to full 10+ hour work days for 3-5 days a week, and i'm still broke. It's ROUGH right now.

I also wanted to update you all on Keifuji’s name, because I figured out what the FUCK it was supposed to be. “Kei” comes from the first character of Keshiki (景色), and it means scenery. If you isolate the first character in google translate, it becomes Kei (景), which simply means view. Fuji is wisteria, something which I already knew for sure.

This means Keifuji’s name is (extremely roughly) “Wisteria View”, hence, “The Scene of Wisteria”.

I'm hoping to host a fandom Secret Santa gift exchange event this year that would be centered around the Akaza/Rengoku Kyojurou pairing. ❄️🔥

Currently, I'm passing around an Interest Check to help take a head count of those looking to participate as a writer, artist, beta reader, and/or a mod.

General Guidelines 📝

Open to all AkaRen/Renkaza/AkaRenkaza writers, artists, and (beta) readers alike!

Any ship dynamics, prompts and AUs, or portrayals of Akaza | Hakuji and Rengoku Kyojurou from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba or Kimetsu Gakuen (Kimetsu Academy) are welcome!

NSFW content will be allowed - must be 18+ to participate as a writer, artist, or beta reader for the event!

Participants will be matched with Secret Santas that are willing to write or create art of their preferred ship dynamics, prompts, or wants as specified on their wish list! Participants will also be assigned a giftee who they will be acting as a Secret Santa to and creating either art or a fic for them based on their giftee's wish list!

Beta readers encouraged to apply! You will also receive a gift in exchange for being paired with a writer and helping them through the editing and beta reading phases of their fic creation!

Since this is to be a Secret Santa event, you must keep your WIPs a SECRET! You will not be able to talk about your work or your wish list to anyone else participating in the event or outside of it on your social media! Everyone's gifts and their identity as a Secret Santa should remain a surprise until the reveal and exchange in December! Mods will be utilized as a medium between Santas and their giftees.

Absolutely NO AI art, writing, or editing will be allowed throughout any portion of this event!

This is going to be really brief, but I figured I'd keep you all updated.

I'm current working on the next four chapters of Scene of Wisteria, along with a "this stuff is canon but isn't necessary at all" one-shot collection works for Scene of Wisteria. I also have my Hunger Games AU still in the back of my brain!

Also, I didn't say this in here, only in the latest SoW update, but i'm currently in the process of moving, and we need to close on the house by the end of the month, so it's going to be a wild ride. I might be able to update before then, but if not, expect something sometime after the 10th of March.

Though Kyojuro is somewhat confident that he could get to the Ubuyashiki Manor without the help of his crow after going to Hashira meetings for two years, he wasn’t taking any chances. Shinobu herself had confessed that she still struggled to find her way to the manor. She had an additional year of service as a Hashira and she was far more intelligent than Kyojuro was.

After a moment, Kyojuro starts to walk, watching as Kaname immediately started to match his pace, his sights still on the manor so far away from them. He steadily increased his steps, keeping his attention on both his crow and on his surroundings. That hadn’t disappeared in his five months of recovery; he was still hyper-aware of every footstep, of every rock and branch in his way. He always knew who was walking out in the hallway, who was coming up behind him when he was training.

He spots the Kakushi before the Kakushi spots him, even with his decreased vision. It takes them another moment before they start waving their arms out to him.

“Rengoku-Sama!” The young man called out. “This way, Rengoku-Sama!”

Kyojuro turns towards the young man, and he starts slowing down so that he didn’t overtake the young Kakushi. Kaname has fallen back as well, patiently watching them from above.

Soon, the Kakushi is slowing down significantly, his chest moving rapidly as they came to the gates of the Ubuyashiki Manor.

“Here we are,” the young man says as Kyojuro stops beside him, breathless. Then, the man bends over, holding onto his knees. “Oh god,” he gasps.

Kyojuro laughs fun naturedly, patting the man on the back. “Thank you for your assistance, young man!” He says.

The Kakushi looks up at him, grunting a little bit, but Kyojuro doesn’t get a chance to reply before a familiar young voice calls out to him. Kyojuro turns, and smiles at the young boy who is waiting there, his hands clasped in front of himself.

“Kiriya-Chan,” Kyojuro says softly, them smiles at the young boy. “Did you come out here to greet me?”

The young boy hesitates for a moment, and Kyojuro can see a weight on his shoulders. Something is weighing the boy down, like he’s got a secret or a responsibility that he might be just too young for.

Then, Kiriya nods and bows a little bit. “Please, follow me.”

Kyojuro feels Kaname land on his shoulder as Kyojuro gives an affirmative nod. “Please, lead the way, Kiriya-Chan.”

They don’t go very far; while the estate is large, most of it is reserved for the Kakushi or the Ubuyashiki family itself. Even as a Hashira, he’s only allowed so much access to the estate.

Kiriya leads him into the small portion of the estate that he’s permitted in, then moves over to one of the room. When the young boy slides the door open, Kyojuro finds himself pausing at the sight. Even Kaname stops preening his feathers and looks up.

“Father,” Kyojuro says, trying his best to not sound surprised.

Fun fact: I don't use Google Docs to write my fanfics.

I actually no longer use Google Docs unless i need to share something. Instead, I started using Scriverner a while ago.

To add onto this, I don't use the proper fanfic/book titles for the project files. Instead, I use either a shortened title or somethign different related to it.

For instance: The Scene of Wisteria is called Wisteria child. My Hunger Games file is called Sandy Dunes, but that's not going to be my final draft name. My current Fantasy novel project is just called "Dragon Inspired". And my unfinished Legend of Zelda x Naruto fanfic is called Hourglass Sand!

I 100% have more like this, I probably have over a hundred project files.

I have this little drabble that i sent to friend a while back, and she just now told me that she regularly re-reads it. Why is she so fucking kind???

I don't even know why she likes it so much, I could 100% do better if I gave it more than 20 minutes to fix it.

Anyways, it was a short drabble in a modern setting where Kyojuro and Senjuro have an 18 year gap, Kyojuro got custody of Senjuro at 22, and Akaza works at the daycare center. Nothing even happens between RenKaza, but Akaza ends up being the only one able to get Senjuro into the daycare center.

So, with life being busy and me having hyperfixation changes every two days, I have finally figured out that Scene of Wisteria will be split into two different parts.

Part one is going to be The Scene of Wisteria, and will be about twenty chapters long. If I keep it around 4k words long, we'll hit at least 80k by the end.

Part two has an undecided title, an undecided length, and will probably have a small hiatus before I start releasing it.

I feel like Tanjiro still didn't get this Tengen, Mitsuri, and especially not with Muichiro. He saw Tengen as an leader, but not someone to rely 100% on. By the time he works with Mitsuri, he's already steadily approaching their League.

Kyojuro was, for the first time in his career, someone stronger than him. Someone who stepped in and protected him, yet also trusted him to be strong enough to protect others.

From personal experience, losing someone like that can change your entire being.

"Why does Tanjiro still think about Rengoku, he didn't have that much screen time." "Why is Rengoku still showing up in flashbacks." "Why is Rengoku talked about so much, who cares-"

Because he was a pivoting character to the story. I don't know how I can keep having this conversation with you people.

Because for a brief moment in time, Tanjiro felt the weight of responsibility lift off of his shoulders for a moment and he felt like he could trust Rengoku to take care of him, his sister, and his friends. He was given a glimpse into a possible future as a tsuguko to Rengoku or just to have Rengoku help Tanjiro figure out what Sun Breathing was.

Rengoku, unlike anyone Tanjiro had encountered so far, gave him hope that he could rest for a bit and he could rely on someone else. Rengoku gave him that security, no questions asked.

That was taken away from Tanjiro very quickly.

Because Tanjiro is, and forever will be, grieving over the loss of that person and that hope.

I promise i'm not abandoning Scene of Wisteria, I got hit like a truck with other ideas and hyperfixations and just now realized that it's been almost two months. Uh. Expect an update before the 22nd, but also expect me to forget again.
