I just finished watching the movie adaptation of one of my favorite novels. And I know the internet has taught us all that’s it’s lame to like contemporary novels more so their movie adaptations but I loved it. When it comes to suicide, I really don’t know what elements would make them “romanticizing” but I just know that it wasn’t the case with Finch’s. His scenes leading up to the suicide showed the actual effects of depression. They also didn’t make it as if other people killed him, it wasn’t revenge suicide, it was depression stemming from trauma. Now I don’t know how to end this so I will just say this: I’m glad my yearbook quote was from Virginia Woolf. And also, Elle Fanning…wow
EDIT: I got to talking with someone that reblogged this post saying that Finch didn’t have depression, but bipolar disorder. This would explain his excessive running at unusual points in the day and seemingly always high energy - things that someone with depression won’t have. ~THE MO’ WE KNO’~
