Y'ALL I JUST RE-FOUND THE BEST THING
I found free downloadable aurebesh fonts! It comes in regular & narrow and now even handwritten! Sadly the numbers don't line up with what we see in the movies/shows but the rest is amazing and perfect!
You can just download them to your computer and use them in any program with fonts! Like Word! Or Open Office! Or Photoshop!

You know what I always want in fantasy settings and conlang?
Handwriting.
Listen, I know what Tengwar looks like when it’s well written, but what does a grocery list from a harried mother look like in Tengwar??
Tumblr media
What does the hurried scrawl of an 8 year-old Vulcan child look like, in the 22nd century specifically because WOAH that’s cool??
Tumblr media
In Star Wars’ Galactic Standard, you have the questionably canon High Galactic, Aurebesh and Outer Rim Basic.

Much to my delight it seems Convallarias made a cool calligraphy version of Aurebesh that I love the look of:

Anyway I just wanna see people scribbling in all these fantastic writing systems with a ballpoint pen. I just… I just love the thought so much.

Hi Jana!! I hope your morning/afternoon/time-of-day (maybe I should’ve just said day, idk it’s 5am) is going well!! I’ve been doing some thinking, and I was wondering if you have any tips for drawing clone armor, specifically phase 2 helmets? I love seeing people’s renditions of the faces, especially yours, but I never see tutorials or tips for armor!
aa thanks friend !!! im just going to start off by sharing this basic guide to clone trooper armour by odekiisu--its a very thorough reference that really helped me understand how clone trooper armour worked when i first started drawing clones. and here's two 3d models of clone troopers by abdyla and reizer!
now here’s my own simplified tutorial on how i draw clone troopers. as always, more details below the cut :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- i like to start off with a rough outline of the body before building the armour around it. it reminds you that there's an actual figure underneath the plastoid, and that also helps build your shapes/body movement etc etc
- while the armour should conform to the body, keep in mind that there's a certain thickness/stiffness to the material. remember that a person is made up of 3d shapes, and so some angles and pieces of armour will be obscured or revealed depending on the angle youre drawing. the 3d model really helps you get a better understanding of how lights/shadows work on clone trooper armour!

- if you're unsure about how certain pieces of armour work, it might help to break down the shapes and practice drawing them individually in different angles before trying to draw the whole armour set (hence me zooming into certain more complicated pieces)
- and of course, don't be afraid to study how other artists draw armour :)
i hope this helped !!!

Another medic question! In fanfic SW medics seem awfully fond of administering sedatives and very strong painkillers that seem to knock you out like a sedative. That doesn't seem very realistic to me. What are the situation where administering sedatives would be okay? When are really strong painkillers used and do they often make a patient extremely tired?
Warning: This post discusses end-of-life care for expectant wounded casualties under the cut. Please avoid reading the last part if this will disturb you. There are no graphic pictures, only text.
---
You’re right! In a real world non-emergent clinical setting, sedation to the point of unconsciousness is a very serious decision. There are a lot of legal, ethical, and clinical guidelines to follow like consent and pre-procedural screenings. Being reckless with sedatives or strong painkillers is a good way to get someone accidently hurt or killed. Airway obstruction, apnea, hypotension, unintended levels of sedation, postoperative somnolence, aspiration, and adverse reactions to sedation medications can all result from poorly managed sedation.
Some reasons to sedate someone include severe pain, extreme anxiety and agitation, combative behavior, delirium, medical procedures, and end of life care.
Strong painkillers and anti-anxiety medications like Propofol, Dexmedetomidine, Ketamine, and Fentanyl are used on the field to calm and comfort wounded casualties.
Pain, as a product of trauma, cannot be prevented. Early intervention can prevent the psychological and biochemical consequences of pain. Prevention of anxiety and delirium begins with recognition that all patients are at risk. Pain is universally present in combat casualties. Treatment should begin at point of injury through all echelons of care.
Corpsman are taught that there is a moral, medical, and operational imperative to treat pain. Treatment reduces incidence of chronic pain syndromes, post-traumatic stress disorder, and long-term narcotic dependency. Pain control should be optimized as a priority over sedation.

Types of pain and the difference between sedation and analgesia:
Tumblr media
Medications should be specifically directed and dosed to achieve a defined goal, for example:
· Achieve a pain score of 4 or less
· Maintain sufficient patient consciousness to assess the evolution of injuries by physical exam
· Decrease the need for mechanical ventilation
· Amelioration of symptoms of anxiety, delirium or agitation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The US military measures and treats pain, agitation, and delirium based on these scoring systems:
-DoD/VA Pain Rating Scale (DVPRS) (Used to assess pain)
-Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS) (Used to assess anxiety)
-Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) (Used to assess the presence of delirium)
They are useful to look out when writing so you can see the different levels of symptoms.

End of Life Care:
An unfortunate reality on the field is that some trauma will inevitably end in a patient’s death. In these situations, it is a medic's obligation to give palliative therapy to minimize the person’s suffering. In these circumstances, the use of opioid analgesics and sedative medications is therapeutic and indicated, even if these medications worsen a patient’s vital signs (i.e., cause respiratory depression and/or hypotension).
If a patient is expectant, medics/ healthcare providers give opioid (morphine is preferred, but hydromorphone, fentanyl, or other opioid can be given) until the patient’s pain is relieved. If the patient is unable to communicate their pain, opioid medication is given until the respiratory rate is less than 20/min. If the patient complains of feeling anxious (i.e. is worrying about the future but not complaining of pain) or they cannot express themselves but are agitated despite having a respiratory rate less than 20/min, benzodiazepine is given until the anxiety is relieved or the patient is sedated (i.e. is not feeling anxious or is no longer agitated). The patient is positioned as comfortably as possible. Pressure points (painful areas) are padded. Anything that gives the patient comfort (e.g., water, food, cigarette) is given, and ideally someone stays close to them until they pass.
Relief of suffering, primarily through pain relief, is the goal during expectant care

This started out as a sketch but I couldn't help myself. My interpretation of Sith!Obi-Wan is the renegade war general that finally snapped and the battalion of deserter clones he adopted on his way out. The Dark Side said: "Aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you want to go apeshit?" And Obi-Wan said "yeAH"

Ahsoka Tano’s lightsabers
concept art by Dave Filoni and Alex Woo, clone wars model sheet by Pat Presley
In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka carries a silver lightsaber hilt with a ball-shaped pommel and a groove running down its midline. The upper portion of her saber takes its design from Anakin’s lightsaber, but is split down the middle and then flipped to create a mirror image, resulting in the groove. Her pommel matches Obi-Wan Kenobi’s original lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Clone Wars co-creator Dave Filoni designed her saber this way as both Jedi would be mentors to her throughout the series.
Ahsoka often holds the green-bladed saber in a reverse grip and eventually carries a second, short-bladed shoto saber for dual wielding. Filoni added this second saber not only to show her growth as a warrior but also to indicate that Anakin’s aggressive tactics are influencing her.
“The Ahsoka from Clone Wars is still inside of her, but she’s grown up and matured:’ revealed actress Ashley Eckstein [about Ahsoka’s return in Rebels]. “I think she’s become the skilled fighter everyone hoped she would be. She knows how powerful she is, she knows how skillful she is, and she’s very confident. But it’s a quiet confidence.”
Both of Ahsoka’s new lightsabers have subtly curved hilts and are stamped with a double-diamond pattern. Star Wars Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni modeled Ahsoka’s new sabers after classic katanas to show how she has continued to develop as a warrior fighting against the Empire. Filoni wanted the color to depict her as separate from the Jedi and the Sith—without color, her blades have no affiliation, signaling how her path is different from that of any other character.
