maomao is my favorite "not like other girls" style protagonist bc for one shes a girls girl through and through. to the bone. and two she's just a weird little freak. absolute lunatic. they have the whole "omg she's actually beautiful and everyone falls for her when she's all made up" trope but the punchline is that she does not fucking want to look like that. she actively puts dirt on her face every day bc she does not want to be perceived as attractive (mostly out of fear of being used for sex work though at the same time she has the utmost respect for women who do sex work like she grew up in a brothel those are her sisters). she's Sherlock level smart and solves every mystery so fast but goes "well thats none of my business. anyway back to testing poisons on myself" she has the 2nd most powerful guy in the nation head over heels in love with her and is like "man this guy is weird around me what's his deal. I guess he's fine though because he gives me rare medicines and has no dick" fucking ICON i love her. also she once slapped someone so hard they fell on the floor. 10/10

Liujiu omegaverse where SQQ is a very cold, prim and collected alpha and LQG is seen as the platonic ideal of omega: strong, hot blooded and nigh unkillable.

In this verse omegas are less often cultivators because it's believed they can't focus or sit still well enough for the training or that they'll spend too much time trying to secure their position in the peak to cultivate. It's sexism, but the kind where people meet the standards expected of them so most omegas give up on cultivation.

Anyway anyway

(YQY was omega but was 'fixed' in the binding with Xuan Su so now he's effectively a beta)

LQG still keeps challenging SQQ because he wants his peer to be a strong and defensive alpha of the sect, but generally speaking an omega physically challenging an alpha is an explicit proposal, so the sect is very confused about what their relationship is though SQQ believes LQG hates him and wants him to step down as a peak lord.

(so liujiu are on the same page in that neither sees it as courting, but on wildly different pages otherwise)

SQQ arranges a mission in the northern desert because he suspects SQH and YQY insists on going with him and SQQ refuses, they argue and eventually it's decided that LQG will go with him.

In the northern desert they find a hidden realm (also frozen) where demon-fairy hybrids live (like a tree cultivated humanoid form and married a demon). Everyone in the hidden realm is too nice and it's extremely suspicious so sqq doesn't let them get separated even if it means he can't sleep.

Anyway mystery montage with them trying to figure out what's up and then leave, but sqq crashes hard from lack of sleep and lack of touch (from wrp sisters).

LQG very efficiently builds sqq a field nest with his supplies and wraps sqq up in it while passing qi from without to keep sqq from full deviation.

Sadly for sqq he has now imprinted on the brute. He ends up saving LQG's life (one fairy was from a mind control plant but didn't control herself well-enough and that made people in the realm too friendly and deteriorated their free will overtime but when confronted things got nasty in a hurry)

LQG days he owes sqq a life debt who snarks that they're up to at least two at that point.

On the way home LQG narrows it down to a few possibilities, gets SQH to spill the beans about the old mission...

And now he's courting SQQ

shirakawa has probably been mad at kazuya ever since kazuya played his middle school team and while he’d thought to himself “this midget isn’t as shit as most other kids” he’d realised that kazuya hadn’t noticed anyone on his team besides chris.

this kid he’d acknowledged didn’t even acknowledge him back!

and then when kazuya had a second chance to properly notice him after mei’s avengers gathering, kazuya had still not been interested in teaming up — it doesn’t matter that kazuya turned them down because he saw them as strong players he would love to rival, what really matters is that shirakawa wanted to play with kazuya and kazuya didn’t want to play with him! kazuya had unwittingly failed to reciprocate again!

so shirakawa decides he will make kazuya regret it, and tells him such.

and he keeps tabs on kazuya:

to make sure kazuya isn’t doing well without them

to convince himself kazuya isn’t all that so he can #GET_OVER_IT

because he can’t help himself

because kazuya appeared in a magazine as the “saviour of seido�� not long after turning him down and it made him SICK TO HIS STOMACH. miyuki kazuya looks as great as he’d recognised back in their first year of middle school, miyuki kazuya does not look the picture of regret in his first year of high school, miyuki kazuya does not have shirakawa katsuyuki on his mind even a hundredth as much as shirakawa katsuyuki has miyuki kazuya on his mind.

that shitty kazuya blew away the chance to be in the top HS baseball team with him to go and waste away the potential that shirakawa had begrudgingly recognised at a team that has fallen off. he’d rather be in a has-been team than play alongside him. how insulting!
