I know Zeronos isn't quite the word Zero but that's clearly where it comes from considering his train is called the Zero-liner and his specific form of Zeronos is called Zero form. <br />

Yuuto's whole thing is that by transforming and fighting he is slowly erasing himself from existence. By the end of the series he lives outside of time because everyone who ever knew him has forgotten he exists and it has erased his place in the timeline. The only people who remember him are the Imagin (demons made from the sands of time), the main character who would have been his brother in law and Hana, his daughter from a timeline that no longer exists. <br />

Yuuto knew that fighting would do this but he chose to fight anyway because he thought it was worth it to save the future even if it meant sacrificing his own.

Hector Zeroni from Holes

He likes diggin' holes.

One of the prisoners at Camp Green Lake, Zero never learned to read because he was homeless. People call him "Zero" because of his name and because everyone thinks he's got zero intelligence. He made a deal with Stanley to teach him how to read in exchange for helping him dig, and eventually they both escape from the Camp together.

This little poll tournament is about the number zero! Well, characters named after the number, that is.

This tournament is a character bracket, of course, with a couple of characters I’ve decided to put in already. Poll is ran by @zerosocialskillz

Who’s the best zero? Welp, that’s for you to choose!

Now let’s go to the rules for character submissions.

Da rules

All characters must be named after the number zero and its names in different languages and forms. (Rei, yeong, nolla, null, etc.)

If the alternate word for zero has a homonym that has nothing to do with zero (Rei can also mean ghosts, for example) and the meaning of the character’s name has this other meaning in mind (ex. Rei from Puyo Puyo), then they’re disqualified.

As much as I hate to say this, Rei Membami from The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles does count for the above disqualification as she was only named “Rei” in order make a pun. I think.

The name can be for an alter ego for a character, or in the case of the super robot genre or similar (ie, Gundam), the machine they ride. So if there is a superhero named Zero or similar, or if a person rides a mecha with zero, they’re in even if their true name doesn’t have the number.

Exception to that mecha rule is if the mecha itself is sentient, which means the mecha is qualified, and unless the rider follows the other rules, then they are disqualified.

The name itself can have more than just Zero. For example: Zero Two from Kirby.

If there is a zero before or after a numerical number in their name (007, 100, etc.), they’re disqualified as they’re actually different numbers (seven, one hundred, etc.)The only exception to this rule is if it’s all zeroes, as that is zero in of itself.

Fictional characters only. No actors who happened to play a character named Zero or similar. Exceptions are tumblr users and tumblr users only. Even then, I may not put a lot of them in the bracket.

Speaking of, if a character plays a character in-universe named Zero or similar, then they are disqualified as that isn’t an alter ego.

Please explain why the characters apply for the rules. I might reserch the character just in case you’re lying, though.

Do not submit the same character again and again.

The character you submitted may not appear in this bracket due to things (lack of slots, for example), even if they are not disqualified.

WELCOME TO THE SLEEPYHEAD CHARACTER POLL!

Submissions are open until January 15th 2024!

Rules for submissions:

Submit a character from any piece of media who is sleepy! Being sleepy has to be a character trait. It doesn't have to be their main character trait, but it does a reoccurring one (not just a one-off trait in one episode)!

Being tired or "lazy" doesn't inherently make a character sleepy! A character being overworked or a character not wanting to work/trying to get out of doing tasks does not inherently make them qualify. To be sleepy, they must want to be asleep and might often be seem dowsing off. Sleepyhead behavior. Naptime is one of their favorite times. It's in their personality and characterization. That doesn't mean they can't ADDITIONALLY be overworked, tired, or "lazy", it's just not the only thing.

No character who are comatose / in "hibernation" / in a deep sleep. This includes Sleeping Beauty (she's not really a "sleepy" character, she's forced asleep; though if it's a adaptation of her character where she's a sleepyhead that counts).

No insomniac characters. This falls more into a tired character that isn't quite a sleepyhead.

No real people. That includes submitting yourself or your pet, as tempting as it is.

No fanon interpretations/fan characters/OCs/etc.

I reserve the right to reject character if they are from offensive media.

Be respectful! Most sleepy characters are lighthearted in nature, but real people with real chronic fatigue & illnesses do exist. So no referring to characters' sleepy behaviors as being "useless" or anything like that. Just be decent.

No character automatically gets in, so feel free to submit anyone!

I am aiming for a 64 single-elimination bracket, but depending on the volume of submissions, I will make the bracket smaller or larger.

Stella:

Stella is the titular spiritfarer, a psychopomp meant to help comfort souls as they travel through the place between life and death and onto the afterlife. To help her in this task, she is equipped with an Everlight. It takes the form of a ball of glowing gold light that sits on her belt, but she can use it as a shape shifting multitool. It can become a saw, a watering can, a paddle, a guitar, and so on. Also her cat Daffodil gets one too.

S8 Round 1

0 to 1

Swirl was originally part of a gang who picked on Tone for encroaching on their territory and stopping their schemes. The reason for this is because there isn't anything left of worth in their country, so Swirl and the others do what they can to survive. But Tone declares that he's going to change that, to turn 0 into 1, and his declaration is so powerful that it causes Swirl's personality to do a complete 180, becoming Tone's #1 supporter. Flash forward a few years and Tone stands at the top of his country with Swirl by his side. Even at his lowest point, Swirl reminds him exactly where he stands and why he and the rest of the country choose to follow him.

But when Tone has to leave, the country starts falling. Under the spell of an outside force, the people start destroying their very livelihoods, save for Swirl, who's kept himself safe and waited for Tone. Alongside others, they start to fight to get Tone back on top. Swirl ends up being brainwashed to stop Tone and destroy the key to the entire country's power, but his devotion to Tone is so strong that he shocks himself to keep from doing so. At first Tone is proud, then he realizes Swirl is getting hurt because of him. So he does what he has to to save him.

He destroys the key himself.

As the country burns in front of them, Swirl asks why Tone would do that. He says his body just moved on it's own. Swirl, crying, asks what they're going to do now. Tone says that together, they'll build the country back up again, and turn 0 back into 1.

Cain and (En)Abel

Cain has a disability that causes severe chronic pain, that heavily impacts his wellbeing, relationships, and ability to function. The only thing that gives him relief is to work on his special interest, which unfortunately is customer facing, and he is constantly butting heads with customers and coworkers in search of doing his job as well as he can because it is, at the end of the day, what makes him the happiest.

Abel is Cain's coworker and best friend. Due to making selfish mistakes in his youth, he has developed a highly person-pleasing personality, and an intense need to take care of people, which, while being very good for his career, comes with the caviat that he doesn't actually enjoy taking care of people, but he feels like he must out of guilt and responsibility.

Abel is the single anchor that stops Cain from ruining his own life permanently, and Cain values their friendship more than anything else in the world, although he won't admit it because his ego is megahuge. Abel often enables Cain's antisocial behavior because it is less trouble for him to deal with. They are at constant odds, manipulating, lying, cheating and being dicks to each other, but deep down, they will never become better if forced to be apart.

Sword gays showdown - preliminaries

For Tendou Souji:

he loves making fun of Kagami and also fighting Worms alongside him. he got his sword by quoting grandma and saying "i'm awesome" in a forest and a sword fell from the sky

For Kendal:

Named himself after his sword, which he inherited from a god after he became the second occupant of said god’s incarnated body. The sword summons blue starfire given enough power and kinda maybe has an eye in it sometimes. Kendal is also canonically ace!

He's the current occupant of the incarnation of the body of Vash (A city god) He did not have a name originally, so he named himself Kendal, which means sword in his region of the Aurora world. He primarily fights using the sword of Vash (god), which is made of a magic metal found beneath Vash (City) As for the LGBTQ+ part, he's asexual. (This hasn't been mentioned in comic, but the creator has said that she has explicitly written him as ace, and has drawn heavily of her own experiences)
