Tomb Raider I-III games featuring Lara Croft are coming to PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Nintendo Switch on February 14th, 2024 - remastered!
All three games will include all of the expansions and secret levels for each game. Players also be able toggle between the original polygon look of the games and remastered version. There's also gonna be two schemes of controls, original and new with more accessibility.
To conclude February's Tomb Raider I celebration, Senior Community Manager Meagan Marie chatted with Shelley Blond, Lara's original voice actress, and Natalie Cook, one of the original Lara models.
Meagan asks them both about their time in their respective roles, the impact that Lara and Tomb Raider have had on them, and a few personal questions.
The video concludes with the unreleased song that Natalie had recorded as Lara, which is so delightfully 90s.
As his kingdom declined, he descended to the underworld, Duat, in search of greater power. But Osiris alone possessed the power to return from Duat, and without the staff, Set found himself trapped for eternity. The temple of Osiris remained sealed for thousands of years, until I discovered a way inside...
Senior Community Manager Meagan Marie takes a few minutes to introduce us to some key members of the Tomb Raider team who share a little about what’s in store for Tomb Raider this milestone year!
Here are the main takeaways:
We meet Neha Nair, a long-time Tomb Raider fan and the new Community & Social Media Manager behind the official Tomb Raider accounts. She tells us to look forward to special fan events throughout the year to celebrate our community, starting on February 1.
We also meet Dallas Dickinson, the Executive Producer for the Tomb Raider franchise, who talks about the legacy that Tomb Raider and Lara have established over these 25 years.
And lastly, we hear from Will Kerslake, the franchise’s Game Director. He says the team has big ambitions for the future of Tomb Raider, and they’re seeking to unify both the visions of the original Core Design games and Crystal’s reboot trilogy. Because this is such a huge undertaking, they currently do not have plans for a game announcement in the near future.
Meagan ends on the announcement of the anime Tomb Raider series that will be on Netflix. It will be a sequel to the reboot trilogy.
There is no mention of Tomb Raider Reloaded, a mobile game that has had limited release so far but is supposed to be widely available this year. They also don’t mention anything about the sequel to the 2018 movie, but it was announced that Misha Green, one of the creators of Lovecraft Country, will be the director.
For those who might not remember, or who only recently came into the Tomb Raider franchise, a 10 year anniversary remake of the original Tomb Raider game had been created by Core Design. When the series was transferred to Crystal Dynamics and Core was rebranded to Rebellion, Core Design’s remake was scrapped while it was still in the beta stage, and the most we ever saw of it was a handful of screenshots and a leaked trailer.
However, Ash from Tomb of Ash recently came into a treasure trove of content from the game, and he’s looking to share it with the community! Unfortunately, there is a big roadblock: Crystal Dynamics’ legal team said no.
In hopes of persuading the powers that be to change that answer, there is now a petition available to convince Crystal and Square Enix to let fans release the assets and possibly even create a playable version of the game.
Please consider taking a moment to sign the petition and spread the word! This is such an incredible piece of Tomb Raider and gaming history, and it would be such a joy for so many fans to see it come to life.
I was feeling a little open-world game fatigue and decided to take a break from Assassin’s Creed Origins to revisit an old Tomb Raider gem from the GameBoy Color. <3
I probably finished this 2-3 times back in the day, but it’s been probably close to 15 years since I last gave it an honest effort. It’s been fun when things click into place again.
