Yeah!!!! Emmet was never discarded or forgotten by Ingo. Ingo makes a point of letting him know He was the one who ensured all this! Ingo never stopped caring about Emmet, but he was just a child without power and when he was an Adult, his power was still limited and he had no idea how to track down Emmet anyway. But he always thought about him and he always kept the things he knew of him close. Ingo wanted to make sure that If Emmet ever came back somehow, he would have these things to show him. And he wanted to keep his memories from fading however he could

Something very bittersweet about Emmet getting to see the myriad of ways Ingo actively worked to remember him. Though some of it might inadvertently accentuate how long they've been apart. Like maybe Emmet no longer likes the fruit Ingo has been going, and is now indifferent to the flowers. Ingo remembered Emmet, yes, but it was the child version of Emmet that he knew rather than the grown version that hes now in love with.

Its true that Emmet's preferences and tastes may have changed with time and circumstance. He didn't have the luxury of roaming gardens and eating whatever he wanted. Limited resources and just not having a really stable home will do that to you. Of course Drayden did absolutely everything he could to try and give Emmet as much of a normal childhood as possible, but going from a prince to an exile Isn't Easy. He lost his taste for finer things because he just didn't have the access.

But Ingo preserving everything he could to make Emmet happy, to show that he cared about him and thought about him is A Lot. And sure maybe his feelings about such things changed but there's definitely a good chance they'll become his favorites again Because Ingo did all this for him and his memory.

Yknow its also probably a good think Ingo winds up helping the rebels and co-ruling with Emmet if only because he can argue in favor of preserving certain things. Not the system itself but certain other things. Like, stuff in the castle for instance. Specifically stuff like art, and the big libraries and things. Maybe the castle even has massive baths. Ingo convinces them to make the castle open to the public so they can use those facilities and learn things.

Oh I think Ingo would Love being able to open up the castle and its resources to the people. The castle feels Empty and Lonely when it was him as king with his advisors watching over him. I could definitely see that he was allowed and encouraged to be kind to the servants, but was heavily advised against getting too friendly with them. He didn't really have many connections and home felt Empty.

But now with Emmet by his side, it's not so Empty anymore, and with more people coming in, he gets the chance to actually get to Know them. Of course there are definitely still a lot of security measures because being Completely Open in the home of a monarch is always a bad idea. But their living quarters are cut off from any access and there are still guards. The Rebels want more equality but they're not so stupid as to think that no one might have intentions of Harm. They've found a peace and they'll fight to keep it.

But having banquets for all to join, having the library open for certain hours every day for anyone to come and see, maybe even festivals and market stalls in the castle courtyard, open hours for tours and visits to the gardens and grounds. This is now much more a home than Ingo had ever dared to hope for.

ingo would love invader zim but it grosses emmet out so he does it in secret. little alt teen ingo secretly watching invader zim and turning off the tv really quick when emmet comes in the room.

I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:

Fictional characters are objects.

They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

Nothing will dispell the "the curtains were just blue" myth faster than writing something yourself, because the amount of pretentious symbolism i am putting in my silly little fanfics is ridiculous. I mean SO much with these words, literally every single one of them. This fic has twenty five typos and zero correct uses of punctuation but if there's curtains you bet your ass I put thought into what colour they were.

me and ku made a fable 3 au and honestly i'm brainrotting it constantly

ingo goes mad and becomes a tyrant out of a desperate need to save his people + being traumatized for weeks by an eldritch abomination that could see into his very soul and taunt him with hallucinations and attacks and everything. he has a crippling fear of the dark now and hates himself for hurting people even as he tries to save them

Emmet, meanwhile, is more mad at Ingo for lying to him and not letting him help then anything else. When the others want to kill Ingo, Emmet instead makes him a prisoner... and imprisons him in his bedroom. Yknow. To keep an eye on him. And interrogate him. And gather information about the crawler.

He puts his most trusted guards outside of the king and queen's chamber (now his and ingos room since he's the king and he'll make ingo his queen eventually. he'll just make sure the kingdom sees the truth about ingo and how he was trying to save them all along)
