Just thinking about how when the story in Succession starts (the pilot), it's not about how Tom & Shiv meet, but how Tom & Greg meet. We get to see their story from its actual beginning, and we don't have to wonder how their first meeting happened, or if there are any distorted memories or unreliable narrators. It's right there, plain and simple. It's a privilege that we don't have with the other characters. Whether this was intentional or not, it really paints the picture of it being their love story and how they become each other's most important person.

tomgreg is SOOO fucking crazy because what do you mean he controls him to make up for the complete lack of control in his life. what do you mean greg tries to move to a different department and tom screams and cries, demanding to keep what is his while he watches his wife with a tight smile, promises whatever shes doing is okay, they'll talk about it later. desperate to keep what he wants through submission, reveling and outright needing greg to submit to him, to reclaim power he feels robbed of. greg is the only person he can be honest with, but that comes at the cost of being at the end of his hand, the victim of the worst of him
