Coda and the end
INT. DAWSON'S ROOM – NIGHT
(The scene opens with Joey standing by the window, looking out. Dawson is seated on his bed, holding his head in his hands. The air is tense yet filled with the weight of unspoken feelings. Joey finally turns to Dawson.)
JOEY: Dawson... I need to ask you something. (Pauses, searching his eyes) Stay. Please, stay.
(Dawson looks at her, stunned. The words hang in the air. He stands up, walking over to her.)
DAWSON: (softly) You want me to stay?
JOEY: Yes. I know it sounds selfish, and I know you have your dreams, but... I can’t imagine waking up and not having you here. Not yet.
(Dawson looks at her, taking a deep breath, grappling with the gravity of her request. Then, a small, determined smile forms on his face.)
DAWSON: You know what, Joey? You’re right. I said I was leaving because it felt like the right thing to do... but what if the right thing is standing right in front of me? (pauses) If for even a second I believe staying is the right thing, then I will. So... I’m staying.
(Joey’s eyes well up as she steps forward, and they embrace tightly. And then they kiss.)
JOEY: (as the take a breath for a while) About two years ago, in this same room I asked you to make love to me. Then you let me down cold, but no I am asking you again, please.
DAWSON: Joey, I’m not only far more positive for your suggestion now, (then playfully) I’m also more prepared for it.
(He walks to his closet and pulls out his tuxedo jacket from prom night. From the inner pocket, he reveals the packet of condoms. he bought for him and Gretchen on the night of the prom
JOEY: (laughs, wiping a tear) You... planned this?
DAWSON: I wouldn't say planned. More like... hoped. (grins) Remember when you found these and thought they were for Gretchen? Well, they were, but I joked the could as well be for us.
(They laugh, sharing a moment of warmth and connection. Joey moves closer and kisses Dawson gently. The kiss deepens, and they slowly make their way to the bed.)
INT. DAWSON'S ROOM – MORNING
(The sunlight filters in through the curtains. Dawson and Joey are lying in bed, wrapped in each other’s arms. Joey opens her eyes, looking at Dawson with a smile.)
JOEY: Morning.
DAWSON: (grinning) Morning.
(She kisses him, and they fall back into the sheets, making love again. Cut to a while later, where they are getting dressed to go downstairs.)
INT. LEERY HOUSE – KITCHEN – MORNING
(Dawson and Joey enter the kitchen, where Mitch and Gale are having breakfast. Mitch glances up and smiles knowingly.)
MITCH: (grinning) Well, look who decided to join us. It’s been a while since we’ve seen you at this breakfast table, Joey.
GALE: (teasing) And it’s good to have you back.
(Dawson and Joey exchange a warm glance. They sit down, and for a moment, everything feels like old times.)
DAWSON: (After taking the first bites of his breakfast) Mom, dad, we have to tell you something. We spent a great deal talking yesterday and we, no I decided that I won’t be leaving for California today.
MITCH: O no, you are. Your not giving up your carrier on ….whatever
DAWSON: Says the man who told me it ain’t over until it is over?
(Mitch couldn’t prevent to show a smile and Gale looked more understanding about what happend yesterday evening)
INT. LEERY HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – LATER THAT DAY
(Dawson and Joey sit together, talking and reflecting on their situation.)
DAWSON: (sighs) We have to stop waiting for tomorrow to solve everything.
JOEY: You mean that when the academic year begins I am going to Boston and you leave still for California. (Dawson nods) Agreed. No more waiting.
DAWSON: (turning to Joey) You know, my mom was right. She asked me a few months ago, if I was just trying to put as much distance between us as possible with this California thing. And... she was right. But not anymore. Now, I just want to get as close to you as I can.
JOEY: (smiling) So, what’s the plan?
DAWSON: (grinning) How about the Boston School of Arts? I know we talked about it before... let’s make it our new beginning.
(Joey nods, beaming. They embrace.)
INT. DAWSON'S ROOM – LATER
(Dawson sits at his desk, pen in hand, writing a letter.)
DAWSON (V.O.): "Dear Gretchen, thank you for bringing back my belief in true love. I’ll never forget our time together. But, as you already know, although my love for you was sincere, my heart has always belonged to someone else. I had a ‘bitchin' summer,’ with the girl you know I want to be with. Thank you for your love and care, Dawson."
(Cut to Joey at her desk, writing her own letter.)
JOEY (V.O.): "Pacey, thank you for loving me the way you did. You showed me that I don't need the highs and lows to know what love is. But I’ve realized that I want the stability and steadiness that comes with Dawson. I hope you find the happiness you deserve."
(The scene transitions into a time-lapse of four years.)
EXT. LEERY HOUSE – DAY – FOUR YEARS LATER
*(The house is beautifully decorated for a wedding. Friends and family are gathered on the lawn, waiting for the ceremony to begin. Mitch and Gale are greeting guests. Jen stands with a smile, looking healthier than ever. Pacey arrives, arm-in-arm with the lead actress of a Dawson Leery film. Gretchen walks up with her new boyfriend, happiness in her eyes.)
CUT TO:
EXT. LEERY HOUSE – WEDDING CEREMONY
(Dawson and Joey stand before the officiant, hands clasped, eyes locked. They exchange vows filled with love and history, speaking softly to each other.)
OFFICIANT: You may now kiss the bride.
(Dawson and Joey share a tender, joyous kiss as the guests applaud.)
EXT. LEERY HOUSE – RECEPTION – NIGHT
*(The reception is lively. Dawson and Joey are surrounded by their closest friends and family, laughing and enjoying the celebration. As the evening winds down, the familiar tune of the Linda Ronstadt song “Feels like home” they danced to in Season 2 begins to play.)
DAWSON: (smiling at Joey) May I have this dance?
JOEY: (grinning) Always.
(They move to the center of the dance floor, swaying gently to the music. The camera circles them, capturing their contentment as they hold each other close. It’s the dance they’ve waited for—a symbol of their journey and the love that brought them here. The scene fades out on their embrace, the music playing softly in the background.)
FADE TO BLACK.

No endgame at all. She had chosen in that moment for Pacey, but by valuating the end of The Creek ,where the actors playing Dawson and Joey chose romantically for each outher and she rated that as "Perfect, absolutelys perfect" she expressed her doubts for her choice for Pacey. Pacey saw the end of the Creek, Pacey heard Joey's words and that flaskbacked him to season for and saw where his insecurities eventually lead them, that is wat caused his tears!
my top 20 paceyjoey moments:
16. endgame kiss (...must come to an end, 6x24)

I think Kevin Williamson found a tricky way to open up for a Dawson-Joey reunion after season 6!

That was perfect, absolutely perfect.
I would like to add my thought to the final episode, no, on the last minute of the last episode of Dawson's Creek.
We see the end of the Creek in which the actors playing Dawson and Joey finally chose romatically for each other. Next we see Joey reacting on the end and her words were "That was perfect, absolutely perfect. There were twe options at that moment. Either she would choose Dawson or she would choose Pacey. By rating her choice for Dawson as perfect, absolutely perfect, she doubted clearly about the choicie she made for Pacey, as we learn a few moments later. He saw the ening of the show, he heard Joey's remars and how did he react. Not by saying something wise and witty you might expect, like "Well I am glad we made another choice Jo" no he was crying. And I know what was sad about Pacey's tears, caused by him realizing it were the final shots of the show and that filled him with tears. But what is Kevin Williamson telling u by showing Pacey in tears. I cannot explain it better that Pacey saw the ending of the show, heard Joey's valuation, doubt, and flew back to his behavior in season four, where his insecrities finaly led to lashing out to Joey on the promboat. That is was caused his tears. Joey who had chosen at that moment for Pacey had the need asking Dawson in the telephone call that followed after the new season of the Creek. The Creek being a copy of life in Capeside, but Joey needed some more tragedy, to come to another outcome. And as if that is not enough, after saying goodbye, we see Dawson leaving his office accompanied by the same music we heard at the end of season 1 where Dawson and Joey kissed romantically for the first time. She mentioned that later in Coda as her most life altering moment. Not the death of her mother, not making love to Pacey for the first time, no, the kiss with Dawson. At the end of Coda they also kissed and she described that later as a moment she felt mere mortal and she felt a moment of true greatness. She shared more moments with that boy and the kiss at the end of season 1 was surely one of them. The moment Mary Beth Nielsen sang, Say goodnigt, not goodbye.
Kevin Williamson was pressed by Katie and Joshua, not to let Dawson-Joey be the endgame. And he gave in to their wishes. But not wiithout making a great statement for a Dawson Joey romance in the near future!
