"...I am aware it is late," he began after a slight clearing of his throat as the man opened the door. "I do not have a gift. But in any case, I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. That is all."
Having the stern, rather unfriendly doctor to enter his office was a rarity of its own kind. On lovely days such as this, it would usually be the other way around, where Hirato decided to drop by and say hello, perhaps with a few teases along the way, for he would not be himself without making the doctor so worked up. It was a rather enjoyable time for the gentleman.
Yet, the doctor had decided to invite himself into his office. If Hirato looked out the windows, he might’ve seen the skies raining cats and dogs by now. Nevertheless his purples hues widened at the unexpected sight of the pink-haired scientist, waddling in awkwardly from the door with a wavering voice lingering on the top of his throat as he spoke.
So that is why he came here, thought Hirato.
“This is a pleasant surprise, Akari-san.” Hirato stood up from his desk slowly as he made his way towards Akari while a gentle but genuine smile appeared upon his handsome features. He guided his gloved hand towards the doctor’s equally charming features, fingers cupping the chin while words exited Hirato’s lips with a smooth baritone accompanying them.
“You needn’t give me any sort of gifts or presents, Akari-san. Your act of kindness alone is already a gift of its own, and I deeply appreciate it. Thank you.” As soon as Hirato finished, he promptly moved forward, sealing the gap that was separating their faces as their lips collided, with Hirato’s own smirking when he felt the slight electrifying sensation enveloping his senses.
It was all Hirato could’ve asked for his birthday. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you do the do with Akari, what would you do?
“Before I begin explaining. I shall put a disclaimer on potential NSFW or adult content. Curious youngsters who are under the age of 18. Please do not click read more. Understood?” Hirato smiled in the most devilish of ways he could possible, while maintaining a serious composure, emphasising his point.
“Now that is out of the way.” The man coughed, his mischievous smirk remained on his features as he spoke. “I would be assuming that you meant sexual intercourses with dear Akari-san when you mention the word “do”.”
A brief silence occurred while Hirato carefully conjugates some of his wicked fantasies and whatnots that he would possibly do to the innocent pink-haired doctor who is probably inexperienced when it comes to the world of adulthood. To a ordinary person, their definition of “do” is simply plug and play. Hirato, however, demands an extra spice of fun elements added into their intimate moments.
“I suppose I could divulge some of my own fantasies with the lovely doctor to you.” The gentleman shifted his glasses, the lenses glared back momentarily as a chilling smirk crept onto the man’s handsome features.
“Akari-san is very hard to please, so ordinary sex would not entertain him much. Therefore I have plans of adding extra elements in order to spice up the excitement that could possibly plunge the unemotional doctor into an emotional frenzy, such as constantly denying his release or restricting him of movements while I perform my ministrations on him, for example.”
Akari definitely had no idea what he had gotten himself into.

What do you most admire of akari?
“His obsessed devoted dedication to his occupation and biological lifeforms other than human beings. Also Akari-san’s blissfully naive innocent attitude to the people around him.”

Hirato-san, I want to ask akari sensei out. He is so gorgeous and I know he is currently single. I know you work very closely to him and was hoping you could give me advice to ask him on a date and also I was hoping that after the date, we could have some fun afterwards if you know what I mean (wink).... thanks.
“Ah, but you see, dear anonymous. Akari-san is no ordinary human. The doctor had practically married himself to his job and it would be somewhat difficult for an ordinary civilian such as yourselves to be able to get close to him in such a casual manner. I must, however, salute to your wonderful tastes in men.”

Being taught the importance of an all-rounded education, Akari was exposed at a young age to various fine arts. He learned to appreciate it when the situation called for such, but mostly preferred the company of his scientific projects.
The Nocturne was a popular piece that he had heard of more than a few times. If anything, the thought that Hirato would have chosen a piece by Chopin seemed befitting enough – the besuited man was a charmer in his own rights, selecting a piece by one of the most famed composers of the Romantic era was hardly surprising. Arms clasped over his lap, his eyes remained unriveted from the man at the piano, watching as fingers caressed the keys, repeated motives and waltz-like themes that produced beautiful and rich tones.
The piece ended too quickly, far too soon. Reluctantly, the doctor joined in the applause as well, watching as the captain returned to his seat opposite him.
“You planned this,” his tone was accusing, sipping his wine as eyes of roseate hues scrutinized the man. “I never knew you could play.” In his entire time of service to circus, Akari had not known life beyond the walls of his office or his abode. It was now that he realized that he may have gained much knowledge during his expeditions, but there were still much that he remained in the dark of when it came to his colleagues personal lives.
It shouldn’t matter, his mind whispered as he was once again pulled back into reality. My responsibility is to focus on my job. Everything else is inconsequential. Yet at the same time, an indescribable feeling tugged at his heart…a desire, if he could be as bold as to quote it as such, that he felt when deeply involved in his researches.
It was the desire, the thirst of knowledge.
Somehow, within the short moments since they had stepped into the restaurant, Akari had sealed his fate. Having been given cruel teases of what hid beneath the iceberg, Akari was curious about Hirato – about his past, his musical experience, his thoughts.
However, before his mind could wander, it was as Hirato had said, the server had arrived to serve their dinner. Momentarily, Akari cleared his mind of the thoughts that had plagued him, looking up at the man who sat opposite him.
“…We should eat.” He had to clear his throat to break the awkward tension that he himself felt, given that the situation was no longer appropriate for the man to react in his usual manner, which included coldly shutting the other up or rudely chase him away.
Violet hues casted a glance through his black-rimmed spectacles towards the pink-haired male as Hirato let out an amused chuckle over his glass of wine. The captain did told him of his plans, although he deliberately did not tell him exactly what he had planned for tonight, for it would ruin the wonderful surprise he has in store for the doctor himself.
“I did remember telling you about a certain performance, so yes, I did plan this. Is it that astonishing that I have such a skill?” Words escaped his smirking lips, enjoying the sight of a slightly tamed Akari. Despite the scowl that plastered on the other’s face, his behaviour says otherwise.
It was obvious to Hirato that his magnificent piano performance had rendered Akari shocked, confused and rather confounded as well. The littlest changes on the other male’s face may seem invisible to the people around him, but the Circus captain can definitely see right through that facade very easily.
Despite the fact that the top-hatted gentleman never considered telling anyone about his musical prowess, he himself did not quite understand what had compelled him into revealing all of this to his former teacher. Yet here he was, seemingly performing for the guests in the restaurant but in reality it was only for one person. Is it true that love could make one do foolish things such as revealing their deepest thoughts? Their secrets? There was only one way to find out.
Their food arrived soon after their brief conversation. As soon as gloved hands reached for the silverware, the sounds from Hirato’s beloved doctor caught his attention almost immediately. Words that followed suit came out stuttering somewhat but the man decided to save his teases for another time, opting to spare the man from his torturous teases, just for tonight. The tense, stiff aura coming from the other arouses his curiosity as to what exactly was going on in Akari’s head during that short silence. It was uncharacteristic for the stern, serious doctor to be in such an awkward state, although the sight of it interests the gentleman somewhat.
“Is there anything bothering you, Akari-san? You were distracted earlier and I couldn’t help but wonder what could be the reason.”

"Stop being so smooth."
“To obtain valuable information and data, it is only reasonable that one must have a way with their words. The choice of words alone can affect your credibility, and can even be used to manipulate others to do your bidding. Although I would never do such a thing to my fellow colleagues, of course.”

"Stop being so creeperish..."
“I do apologise for my outspokenness back then. I simply could not risk a potential crime happening to such a young, petite woman of grace when this world is filled with creeperish men. It is why I chose to whisper it into your ears to save yourself from the embarrassment that could ensue upon you.”

"Stop being so dastardly."
“When was I ever a dastard? It is all but your imagination, miss Hatter. I can assure you that I am a man of admirable honour. Someone that is certainly genuine as well.” However, it does not take a genius to figure out that the top-hatted man was lying. To those who had spent some of their time in getting to know this dangerous man, they know that Hirato is more than just a “dastardly” person.

When did your crush on akari sensei started?
“When and how indeed. I have been asking those questions if I do say so myself.” A chuckle escaped from Hirato’s throat, a soft smile found its way onto the man’s lips. His gloved hand supported his chin while his eyes shimmered, briefly reflecting blue hues instead of his usual violet ones.
Reminiscing of his earlier days back at Kuronomei Academy, it was around that time that he and the pink-haired doctor met for the very first time. Akari Dezart wasn’t exactly a man that had his best interests on his students, opting to dedicate his precious time on studying living organisms and specimens instead of devoting the time on his students like the teacher he should be. Hirato himself wasn’t too pleased with the attitude, however. Thus, their rocky relationship persists even to the present day.
Being the studious yet mischievous student Hirato was back then, he frequents the doctor’s office, often bombarding the pink-haired professor with atrociously difficult queries, with an occasional prank or two at times. The bespectacled male found it somewhat entertaining to bully the older professor, more so than he would’ve with Tsukitachi, his closest friend at the time. Their complete contradictory personalities clashes with one another every now and then, although Hirato thoroughly enjoyed the reactions he receives from his dear professor.
Fate does work in mysterious ways, when the two of them would soon meet once more at the same workplace. Despite the fact that they both had different occupations, their jobs require the two occupations to rely on one another, much to Akari’s chagrin, or so Hirato thought at least. Just as old times, Hirato enjoyed inviting himself into the doctor’s office, often with his alcohol-loving accomplice as well, throwing various “tea parties” that ended up rendering Akari beyond drunk. Of course, all was done with good intentions in mind as the doctor really needed his rests from overworking himself.
At some point, the top-hatted man wondered why he devoted that much of an attention to someone who’s supposedly incompatible to him, someone who he once despised due to his lack of motivity to his students, someone whose brilliance shone so brightly that he paid no attention to his surroundings. Perhaps it was that very brilliance and the contrasting differences that had entranced even Hirato himself.
“Perhaps long before I had even realised it myself.” Hirato answered simply, masking the deep thoughts that had trailed through him just now. The answer was short and simple, and dear anonymous do not need to know any more than they should.

Komui grinned in response to the smile from the other man, not being able to deny the truth of the reply that he received. Not that he could really do much about changing his lab working environment for obvious reasons and he was convinced he would end up avoiding working on his paperwork irrespective of the location.
“I concede the point, a change of scenery is sometimes most welcome~”
At that moment, their heated beverages arrived and the scientist followed suit in taking up his cup and after fixing it the way he liked it took a much needed sip. It was no where near the perfection of Lenalee’s coffee but it could pass for a fairly close second he supposed.
Just what he needed…
It was Komui’s turn to look amused when his companion made a guess at his occupation, which not a hard thing to do considering he still wore his labcoat which narrowed down the options of his profession considerably.

“That I am, affiliated with Harpwood University at present~ I likewise find myself curious as to your line of work, the large amounts of paperwork and elaborate attire certainly leave much to the imagination.”
Hirato chuckled softly at the acknowledgement he had received before he took another sip of his tea, violet hues eyed the other bespectacled man as he placed his teacup onto the empty spot next to his paperwork, resuming his work momentarily. All he really needed to do now was to sort the documents by categorising them.
The captain’s gaze left the papers and back at the scientist, attention caught by the mere mentions of only the most prestigious university in this country. “Harpwood University you say? My, what an honour indeed.” Hirato let an amused hum escape from his throat, adjusting his spectacles when the other returned his question back to the top-hatted man. It was only fair that he return his answer as well. The well-dressed man cleared his throat while holding his gloved fist up near his smiling lips, muttering a small apology for the rudeness before he began.
“As the captain of the National Defence Agency, Circus. Heavy loads of paperwork and a strict dress code is to be expected. However, I do find this elaborate attire somewhat charming, if I may add.”
A gloved hand gripped the brim of his hat, securing it tightly between his fingers as he lifted it slightly above his head.
“I do apologise for my impoliteness for not introducing myself. My name is Hirato. It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance."
