“Do you really mean that?” Tori asked resting her chin on her hand “I do have time now” she said with shrug. She really wouldn’t mind visiting scottland, she heard it was beautiful beyond measure. Her ears lit up hearing that nyx had learned a few new tricks too “Oh? You’ll have to show me” she said with an eager smile as she stepped back slightly “I learned how to make an opponent unable to catch their breath. Doesn’t work for everyone though, earth benders are hard choke up”

“Mmm so your Scotland life, that’s why I didnt know” Tori said with a small smile, she always wanted to see her friends home, especially when they were at Akram together as students and best friends. “Well I will stick to my mojitos, and I look forward to hanging out with you, it’s been a while” they only had maybe 30 minutes left of work, and Tori was beginning to feel anxious so she looked at Nyx’s papers again “oh I remember doing these” she grinned “did you learn any new tricks over break Phoenix?” She asked “I did.” She said with a cocky yet flirty little eyebrow raise.

“It’s not that much different than my life here.” Nyx jokingly rolled her eyes. “Maybe if you’d come visit, you’d see.” She had always wanted her friends to visit Scotland, but it had almost never worked out. “It’s been much too long.” She said, flipping through to the next paper. “I did learn a few new tricks.” Looking over at her friend, eyebrow raised. “Oh yeah? What did you learn?”

Tori smiled ever so slightly watching Lina light her staff once more “so be it” she said in response. Torrance levitated a smaller staff for herself mounted on the wall and waited until they were both lined in the middle to say “begin” being who she is, torrance always felt she needed to take the first move, overly confident some might say but with one sweep of her staff she was able to blow out the fire on linas staff just for a moment.

Tori watched calmly as Lina dodged the blow from her other student. She became even more proud as she started to get them near the wall and that she let go some of her fear. Tori knew now that the earth bender had only one move, and when they didn’t take it she ended the fight by extinguishing Lina’s staff and walking over. “Lina, you did much better.” She said before looking at her other student “as for you I want you to go back to the school lounge and stare at the fire in the fireplace for 30 minutes. You looked at her staff like it was about to end you, even though you had a protective shield, you need to get over that. You have the ability to provide for the fire element and build it, so you shouldn’t fear it. Go clear your head” Torrance then looked back at Lina as her other student nodded and left “and since you did so well, you get another fight, and I’ll even let you choose. one of your classmates who’s a water or me.”

Lina couldn’t help but smirk whenever the professor kicked the other student out of the class. She was proud of her skills, maybe a little too proud. When the professor offered herself up, she lit her staff once more. “Let’s have at it, Sensei.”

“Mmm so your Scotland life, that’s why I didnt know” Tori said with a small smile, she always wanted to see her friends home, especially when they were at Akram together as students and best friends. “Well I will stick to my mojitos, and I look forward to hanging out with you, it’s been a while” they only had maybe 30 minutes left of work, and Tori was beginning to feel anxious so she looked at Nyx’s papers again “oh I remember doing these” she grinned “did you learn any new tricks over break Phoenix?” She asked “I did.” She said with a cocky yet flirty little eyebrow raise.

Tori smiled slightly taking what Phoneix said as a complement. She didn’t want nyx to think of her as too ruthless, but in reality Torrance was ruthless when she needed to be. She collected her papers and scooted closer nyx peaking at what she was working on with her students before she responded to her drink offer. Hearing that her childhood best friend was not a mojito drinker but a whiskey drinker shocked her to say the least “since when did you move to the hard stuff you little badass?” She asked with wide eyes, Tori had to know this before she picked her brain about work stuff.

Nyx tilted her papers slightly for her friend to see. Her students were supposed to write about what practice they had done over the summer, but most of it was a jumbled mess that didn’t seem legitimate. “Since my father started handing me scotch every time I went home.” She chuckled, pushing some hair behind her ear.

When the young fire bender approached, Torrance gave him an intimidating look. She knew ash, he was cocky, dark but a skilled fighter and it sort of reminded her of her younger self. “Sure ash. Maybe you can show my other students how it’s done” she said accepting his challenge by throwing him a staff and grabbing one for herself. The other students all gathered around, some intrigued, some scared as their professor whisked her staff around skillfully

“You’re being too timid which makes you predictable.” The young professor confessed to her student as she helped them back in their feet. Teaching combat was a difficult subject to teach, dangerous too but it was nesscary in their world today. Torrance was really a sweet and quite bubbly person when she wasn’t teaching, but here she was cold, harsh, yet the most rewarding in her opinion.

Torrance noticed Lina’s comfort with the lit staff and it made her smile ever so slightly but hoped she didn’t see “In this war, people don’t play fair so I must prepare you for what’s to come” Tori replied looking to and fro at her earth bending student and fire bending one assuring their understanding. Torrance spread her left palm towards her earth bending student to create a protective shield made of air just so they wouldn’t get burnt “you have a shield here, but out there you won’t, so pretend this is real” Torrance said strictly as she took a step backwards “begin” at the sound of her words the earth bender did just what she thought they would do and used their staff to create more plant life to try and sweep Lina off her feet.

Lina twirled the staff in her hands as the professor spoke. She knew exactly what she wanted to. She turned towards the earthbender, nodding that she was ready. The other was safe with the air shield around them. She had seen the other’s moves in class before. She knew what to expect of the first move, but otherwise they were unpredictable. She hopped over the staff, throwing her weight into her own. She lunged her own staff at the other, trying to push them back towards the wall.

“A combat student is only as ruthless as their professor.” Phoenix smiled, pulling her own papers out of her bag. It couldn’t hurt to get some work done while they talked. At the mention of mojitos, she looked up. “I thought you knew me better than to be a mojito gal. Keep your mojitos, I’ll take some whiskey.” The blonde chuckled. “But I’ll gladly let you pick my brain.”

Torrance smiled and laughed brightly “no one likes my classes, I’m the meanest person here” she joked but only slightly, Tori was extra strict with her classes but around friends she was someone else. “I was thinking, me, you and some mojitos?” Tori bit her lip “Also I’d love to pick your brain, and maybe work on some combo moves.?”

Torrance walked around the young fire element getting a good read of her before looking at her calmly “you mustn’t conceal your emotions Lina, you need to feel them, and channel it” with a swish of Tori’s left hand she used her air manipulation abilities to pass them both a staff “Don’t be scared, I won’t allow anyone to get hurt today.” Tori assured her confidently as she swished her staff around skillfully preparing for their next battle. “Light your staff” The professor instructed nodding towards Lina’s weapon

Lina took a deep breath, not wanting to lose too much control. When she was handed the staff, she weighed it in her hands. She nodded. She knew she would have to feel her emotions to win, but she would have to get over her fear. She lit the staff, letting the flames lick out from her fingers. It felt natural, warm against her palms. “Though is it fair to use a lit staff against an earth bender?”
