bin momentan sehr angetan von der idee dass man nie inspektor cottas richtigen vornamen herausfindet. ich stell mir das nämlich vor wie so nen richtig dämlichen gag; einmal stellt er sich jemand anderem in gegenwart von justus peter und bob vor und gerade als er seinen vornamen sagt fliegt ein düsenjet vorbei und es geht in dem lärm unter. das namensschild an seiner tür hat seit jahren einen schmutzfleck an der genau richtigen Stelle sodass man nur inspektor d̴̙͚͝k̵̢̯͕̽̾x̶̝͍͊͌k̶̥͔̔͂̿k̶̘̆̎̄s̷͉̻̯̿̂͗ cotta entziffern kann. im telefonbuch steht er nicht weil polizeischutz und so und später findet man auch nichts wenn man seinen nachnamen googled. nachdem er in rente geht besuchen die drei ihn zuhause und als sie ihn mit "hallo inspektor cotta!" begrüßen, lacht er und sagt "ich bin doch jetzt im ruhestand, jungs! nennt mich einfach -" aber da explodiert irgendwas draußen vor dem fenster und die drei fragezeichen haben damit plötzlich einen neuen fall und das thema kommt nie wieder auf. die drei versuchen seit jahren krampfhaft zu verbergen dass sie keine ahnung haben wie er heißt weil sie ihn definitiv zu lange kennen sodass es nicht unglaublich peinlich wäre. auf seiner glückwunschkarte zum geburtstag schreiben sie "lieber lieblingsinspektor, ..." (es ist nicht gelogen aber trotzdem fühlen sie sich ein bisschen schlecht); mittlerweile haben sie eine jahrelange wette am laufen wie er wirklich heißt. in der zentrale am pinbrett hängt eine liste mit über 60 namensideen die sie über die jahre gesammelt haben und sie wird noch immer länger. peter setzt 120 dollar auf "eugene".

something about alex’s voice when he says i would never call you a coward and how it cracks up because he realizes henry has been told he’s a coward all his life and that’s how he’s been caged in those palace walls. they kept beating him down, words hitting him like a physical slap, until he finally started believing them, started using those words to define himself when alex would have never in a million years thought of calling henry a coward, because he knows, he sees him, he sees how hard he tries, how hard he’s always tried, and he is so broken because henry doesn’t see it. he doesn’t see this amazing part of himself, his huge heart that has been chained down more times than he can count and yet is still beating fiercely, he almost forgot this part of himself existed, until alex came along and helped him remember that he was never a coward, he was brave all along—
