THANK GOD I thought I was MAD... I thought I am the only one who saw it but thankfully there are other people.
But here is my take:
Base EGO Meursault (Pride)
Tumblr media
Bygone Days Gregor (Gloom) for reference
Tumblr media
Canto 6 Cutscene Base EGO Meursault (Gloom)
Tumblr media
A person who gets hyped in this Canto will never expect the difference immediately due to the almost-similar color hue but the moment I saw it first time I was like-
"Ah damn, this entire thing reminds him of his mother."
Because let's face it, Canto 6 tackles about a person someone you love and relate to. Whether it is a family, a relative, or a significant other. It talks about the courage to push forward and face a hardship and decision willing to make sacrifices to find and achieve the happiness of others.
Meursault, judging from his first excerpt when he is teased, (the "I killed mother... yada yada") shows that he has some relationship and memories to mother (especially when he briefly talks about her in the Christmas event).
In his original literature (The Stranger), the book tackles about the loss of Meursault's mother and how he actually reacts to it. He reacts indifferently. Although during the story he later starts to get an understanding about her more after her death through her relationships with other people which gives him relatability of the differences and similarities between them on how they desire the pleasures of life.
Limbus Company's Meursault is quite vague on what kind of relationship he has to his mother whether if it is positive or negative.
But one thing is for certain.
He killed her and he is regretful for it.
Which is why in Heathcliff's Canto, he is taking an active role to make sure Heathcliff is safe and sane and how he is not overly blunt to him even though he is the "Just face the facts already" type of guy. Because this guy knows what it feels like it.
Since he just went through it personally.
Catherine's "death" reminded Meursault of his own mother's death. So it is something that resonates him as well.
Gloom represents the sadness and sorrow of the sinner's E.G.O., hence Meursault is feeling sorrowful on behalf of Heathcliff's experience throughout his Canto whether it is the form of Heathcliff's path to take, the fact he is fighting another Heathcliff who is his coworker, or the fact that the main problem of the Canto (loss of a loved one) is all too familiar to him.
Heathcliff cutscene base E.G.O. change explanations
Envy - He is envious of other's accomplishments and privileges since those are what he wanted and needed in order for him to get a standing or at least a chance to be with Catherine
Wrath - Self loathing and the anger of how everything transpired to his life. How things seem to make him and Cathy be far apart. An anger that resonates how he wanted to change for the sake of his love only to be betrayed and downgraded down to the earth knowing that he has no chance.
Meursault cutscene base E.G.O. change explanations
Pride - His willingness and the capability to do things almost better than everyone else, a "perfect" employee under the command of the higher ups. Although treated like a common puppet in strings, he is scrutinized and degraded as "different" by the common folk.
Gloom - Inside an unbreakable man can possibly be a person trapped in anguish and regret of the things he had done or witnessed in his life. An emotion he chained up and hid away to maintain a facade only to be seen at times when things are too familiar to him.
But hey... it's just my take.
OKAY MEURSAULT BRIEF INCOMPLETE ANALYSIS BECAUSE I LOVE HIM
CANTO 6 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Canto 6, omfg I love it
Heathcliff needs a break from everything what happens there so I decide to pinpoint the rest of my sight to Meursault out of all of the sinners.
First things first, he is still good at the adaptability and basics of reading between the lines of a conversation and his environment. The part where he reads the newspaper with Don and Rodion and he still sticks to what is more important even if the other things can be interesting still makes him a very formidable ally when he mentions what he reads in part 3 of Canto 6. It is the most Meursault-coded behavior but he is still shows his prowess of understanding things even though he prefers a direct approach to things.
Second part, concern. My dude is the first one who can read the room properly ever since Catherine's "death" when the team arrived in Wuthering Heights, he expresses genuine remorse to Heathcliff and is expressing his condolences in his own way. Not telling it to Heathcliff straight to the fact like he used to since he is concerned on the way how Heathcliff will react to it if he bluntly tells him on what is in his mind.
He even expresses his own judgment about waiting out for the Golden Bough to be available to avoid the thunder strikes for the sake of Heathcliff's well-being. Even if the possible result of this decision is the failure to retrieve the Golden Bough. Which shows that his mind is not entirely on seeking the best result of the mission due to his contact but also to his concern for the safety of his co-workers and to avoid the dangerous risks they went through.
The third and final part, decisions. The surprising out-of-place cutscene in Canto 6 where he uses his base EGO to restrain Erlking Heathcliff... it was not placed there just to bring an epic power move ever since Vergilius' battle sprite shows up during the Wild Hunt basement.
Tumblr media
I believe this is a way for them to show his development as a character.
Because this is a pivotal moment about him as a person.
He is a man who follows orders to the T, and he will not conduct a task or an action without permission or if it is against the rules to do so. Even if things are hectic, he needs orders from the higher ups for him to act even though it is common sense or morally right to do so if one has the ability to do it in that situation.
The fact he does this without the orders of Dante out of all people, since he knew the weight of the situation, shows how he grew as a person and can act on his own without others ordering him.
The fact he can remove the cold and hard disposition and the factual speech shows that he is opening up in the journey he went through with his company. Revealing a more relatable yet frank tone so he can be understanding to his fellow coworkers.
Gosh, I want to see this grown man cry.

Late night insomnia theories AGAIN I CAN'T BLOODY SLEEP PLEASE LORD I TRY TO CLOSE MY EYES AND ALL I CAN SEE IS W SKILL ISSUE DANCING
Meursault and Don are the two sinners who are seriously SERIOUSLY quite the characters that have a lot to unpack. Two characters with almost a one-sided personality when interacting towards others. Especially Don, Don has a skewed-sense of priorities in life and I was beginning to question her.
We do know in the upcoming chapters that Ishmael is going to be featured and ever since Yi Sang's story has concluded(?) (EHEM, Gubo I am coming to kill you, EHEM) I believe that her chapter revolves around the sinners "reenacting" her voyage or meeting a member of her crew who was somehow alive. Might be between those two, I am so excited with that possibility and I cannot wait what Don and Meursault's story chapters have in store.
Don might get a story that revolves around her moral sense of justice and also "personality abandonment." You think that I will forget about those Mariachi peeps back in Chapter 2??? Their comments were on point to Sinclair and the fact that they commented Don as "insincere and lack of a pure heart" iirc means we are getting on to something. I believe that Don is a person who is indifferent to many happenings in the City yet she prefers to look and take action on the smallest of things rather than the bigger of it. (That weird double faced reaction when she VIOLENTLY decided to "save" a backstreet folk and their child who violated a taboo and her neutral reaction in a FUCKING GENOCIDE TOWARDS THE INNOCENT) (Like yeah, she learned something after Verg and her idol got her cucked in the checkpoint area but there has to be an active remnant of that judgement somewhere within her during the genocide in Calw) She wanted to be the center on something especially in a situation where she can properly control hence she ALWAYS try to take over the mantles whenever she can even if it is not in her own expertise.
Hence I believe her story would revolve around the concept of her own moral judgement and how she wanted to be someone important. I also believe she wanted the attention directed at her to be a "great Fixer" she would do everything for that. Pretty much explains why one of her skill type of her default has envy (she wanted to be someone that resembles a great and perfect idea of her belief on a true Fixer and be higher or as levelled as the greatest Fixers in the City). Her story would seriously tackle on breaking her "honorable facade" and might question her validity of her desire to be a great Fixer when in truth she is not genuine on such things to do and would act like that to cover a probable rotten or indifferent personality.
I do have a personal theory that Don Quixote is actually Sancho Panza (Don Quixote's squire in the book) but that will be in a different take rather than now.
Meursault on the other hand, I believe that his story would stress around "emotional and mental breakdowns." This fucker has a decent yet extensive knowledge on distortions. Fuck, he even stated plainly that he get to witness them meaning that he witnessed more than one distortions in his life. I do have two theories on what happened to him back then and would tackle more in the future. His original novel involves him murdering someone and possibly it might bring over to the game's lore as well (more like a portion of it), and I get to say... it is quite unlikely he kills someone with a gun but rather himself.
First theory would be that he killed a person under the process or already been distorted, my friends always think that it has to be his mother because of that quote he stated back at his promotional video. Although, me and my friends would debate that the way he expresses that is either he is forgetful of that incident or that he prefers not to think about that incident and decides to detach himself away from that incident hence he cant remember the entire details of what he had done, a person who killed his distorted mother. I can probably tell that N corp is a toxic workplace environment when there are a lot of questionable acts and decisions sprouted out from the company (problematic Nagel Und Hammer and the "New League of Nine") it would be no doubt there would be a thing or two who would distort after what they have been through.
Second theory is where Meursault is the one being distorted. This is a theory that got us excited the most because of game antics (one of our own sinners fighting against us? Funny enough is that he is the strongest unit with complete full leveled IDs and EGOs ready in my team. This is why I build Heathcliff and Faust as backup in case that scenario will happen.) This theory revolves around him getting into a mental or emotional breakdown (quite difficult what irks him to bend when we know that even in stressful situations he remains a calm yet annoyed facade - Rosespanner ID) and resulted him killing his own mother without him realizing it. But my friends and I were thinking that it might not only be the reason he get into jail. One friend of mine point out that killing one person is not enough to be seen as a threat because that is quite common in the City where survival is a must have because of people getting into each other's throats with or without a valid reason. What if... he kills many people? Yet the only person he realize that was killed in the mix is his own mother. After the onslaught he just returns back to normal after a sense of clarity came to him and in that part is where he gets jailed. He was ridiculed and spouting him anger because he has the ability to distort, something that represents of showing one's true self. Final boss material right here, his story might be about overcoming this distortion problem he is dealing with and also about his perspective of everything and why he thinks of it.
Alright I am done I need to sleep or else my mother find out I am still awake and write this shit. Time to fuck off.

I spent two days to finish two years and I am wheezing at how much beautiful content I manage to obtain from such a deck builder game. Also my dorm mates are one of the interesting people here, two potion makers and two class nerds who just carry us in trivia or battle classes. Also the part where I can fully express myself with custom emotes from my own gallery- I am happy to show my pain through a doge pic.

This is actually my new OC, when I heard back at 2021 about HPMA I already made my OC who is a descendant from the children from the union of my OC Julia Dela Rosa and a canon character, Murphy McNully.
Jaime Dela Rosa-McNully
Aka: Jaime D.R.
Age: 12 years old (1st Year)
Gender: Male
Birthday: June 16
House: Hufflepuff (sorting hat prefers him to be Ravenclaw just like his father, but believes Hufflepuff is better because of his strong loyalty)
Favorite Magical Animal: Niffler and Matagot
Son of Magnus Dela Rosa-McNully, he is the grandchild of Julia Dela Rosa from Hogwarts Mystery and one of the descendants of Annalisa Del Rosario from Hogwarts Legacy.
Eldest son from Magnus' side who actually has their magic slowly activated when they reached their 12th birthday. Hence he once believed that he is a squib throughout his life.
He is smart, cautious, and also curious. Upholds a strong sense of fairness in everything and is very protective to his friends just like his father.
Unlike the rest of his other magical family members, he does not have animagus powers and often has the desire to be one.
He somehow inherits Annalisa's combat abilities, Julia's tenacity, and Murphy's charming personality.
The brown coat he bought from Madam Malkin's shop in Diagon Alley is actually an improvised version of Julia's signature curse breaker coat. Julia asked a favor to Madam Malkin to sell her coat to one of her descendants only if they are interested to it. Jaime gravitated towards the coat immediately, which symbolizes his quest to solve the mysteries and problems that will happen in his life as a Hogwarts student.
Never saw his grandmother in his life and only interacts with her through letters ever since she isolated herself from everyone for her research.
He excels in potions, charms, D.A.D.A., and care for magical creatures.
Really wanted to bring his phone to Hogwarts but his father kept confiscating it.
When he returned after his 1st year from Hogwarts, Murphy saw him wearing Julia's improvised signature coat and was crying in absolute happiness and sorrow because of how much he missed her presence. He later showed Jaime one of the pictures of Julia when she is wearing the same coat.
Has a fascination to dragons and unicorns just like Julia when she is taking care of those creatures from the reserve.
Incredibly honest for their own good.
Aspires to be a quidditch player like the rest of his family, hoping to be a Beater.
Due to faint traces of ancient magic coursing through his veins, his spells tend to hit harder than average although he still never unleash it to his full potential than Julia and Annalisa's. This is also why he is easy to control magical creatures as well.
He is raised in an semi-Asian household, so cleaning is one of the normal things he ever done hence he rarely complains about cleaning as punishment in Hogwarts. He quite enjoys it though.
Has a younger sister that he tends to look after to.
Prefers elemental spells mostly ice and wind.
Likes Glacius and bewitched snowballs as his spells.
He once got banned from the duelling room for a week because he accidentally set the entire room into ice except the students (thankfully).
He knows how to imitate sounds as a hobby to entertain his younger sister.
Very good at taking care of younger children than him.
Always goes out at night to admire the moon over the quidditch pitch.
He actually has Asian-levels of smart but he just felt like not pushing himself far because he does not feel like it.
Loves sweets and would store them in his trunk so that he can carry some for his younger sister when he gets home.
Once he learned magic from his first year, Murphy excitedly taught him the Blackboard Writing spell like what he did to his other sons.
He wished to be working in the ministry as an undercover agent so he can learn more about his grandmother when he gets an opportunity.

Maria and the cat she has been entrusted to look after in hopes he can work again when he turns back into a human.
Log 23:
"3rd day of Dante allowing me to handle Meursault hehe Meowsault hehe as he turns into a cat from their mirror dungeon. Elias brought a whole durian fruit to me and I am enjoying the taste despite the smell. Meursault never tasted one before so I gave him a piece. He seems that he does not like it and he is retching on his BED. Took a while for me to wash the bedsheets for him and he is always giving me that awful side eye almost the entire afternoon. Eugh."
Maria and Elias are both of my Project Moon OCs and their references and stories will be shown soon. If anyone wanted it at least.

Yep, it's design canon now. Dante's clock is a doomsday clock after one teacher of mine shown me the doomsday atomic clock he has been protecting in his peak days.
Basically Dante is probably a living embodiment of an incoming apocalypse timer that will happen in the city once they collected all of the golden boughs that resonated with the sinners. What kind of apocalypse? Probably regarding with distortions, abnormalities, aberrations, or god-knows-what the boughs can unleash upon.

Demian my boy, so basically you are not just "you" in your own novel from Emil Sinclair but you are also the Prince from "The Little Prince."
Now because of this, you are implying that Dante, is not just the average Dante from Dante's inferno but also the pilot from The Little Prince. So applying this kind of thought, the Sinners or other side characters can represent not themselves from their respective literatures but also other nameless or established characters from other timeless literatures.
Also the fact that The Little Prince's plot has tackled the usage of stars and Dante has been finding the star and Demian is waiting and searching for the stars for Sinclair... fuck wait my head hurts.
Sigh, despite that I am more excited on other novels that can be applied to other side characters that is tackled on. Demian has the mark of Cain which is a biblical reference that tells about the story of Cain and Abel. Cain killed Abel out of jealousy and because of that he is casted out. When Cain thought he would be killed soon just like how he killed Abel, God's forgiving and selfless nature gave Cain a mark on his forehead (which is the Mark of Cain, Demian's symbol on chapter 3) to repel back those who harm him but returning the pain sevenfold to those who attack him. So he is connected in the literature of Demian, the Bible, and also The Little Prince... SO THIS FUCKER HAS THREE CONNECTIONS ALREADY.
I will be fucking shitting myself if there would be a character who would connect themselves in the short stories of "The King in Yellow", "The Tell-Tale Heart", or stories from the Ctulhu Mythos (I love lovecraftian stories, I always hid it from anyone else so I can mald in peace.) Imagine a character who talks to them about "Carcosa" (have to be a vehicle, a headquarters, a place, ANYTHING PLEASE JUST TELL ME IT IS CARCOSA AND I WILL SING CASSILDA'S SONG HAPPILY FOR YOU) and I will fucking piss myself in happiness. That is how excited I am.
Now excuse me, I will be drawing Demian in The Little Prince style. Good fucking bye.

It is god awful 4 am in the Philippines (insomnia growing worse due to worry) and I have one fucking theory on what fucking Demian said in the epilogue of Chapter 4.
Demian fucking returns to the presence of Dante as the Sinners took a feast for themselves at some restaurant and talks to them about the meaning and true purpose of technology and the morality behind it along with the concept of greed. One line took a fucking slap on me whenever I kept reading his dialogue.
Tumblr media
This is...
Tumblr media
A "The Little Prince (TLP)" by Saint Exup茅ry reference said by the Little Prince himself when he met the stranded pilot in the desert.
Back then when I was still studying religious literature and our main topic is TLP, there are many biblical references here and there from the snake who bit him down to the desert where the pilot has been stranded upon for some time. The sheep has many symbolisms back in my lessons, the common ones that I get to see are the spiritual transcendence of the prince, the representation of the truth, and the beauty hidden from reality. Mind you all that the story of TLP is quite imaginative and a sad one that gives the hopeful yet real life lessons of friendship, value, love, and loss. Hence many symbolisms are interpreted here.
Now that I mention those things... what does it have to do with Demian telling Dante to draw him a sheep like they promised to him? Judging from the structure of his tone, it appears that Demian knew Dante before Dante took their clock prosthetic.
Well my theory is that the sheep is the symbolism of "realization" or more likely "seeing the truth of humanity." Dante is a blurry yet blank slate when they saw that they lost their memories yet retained a sense of a trail of their true goal. Dante wants answers (an obvious reflection of decision for a person who knows nothing of the world) in everything around them and they are the ones who let's out the final decision to handle in everything with the Sinner's help. Hence, they take semi-control in seeing EVERYTHING and witness it along with them. So far Dante has saw the lives of four of their sinners (Gregor, Rodion, Sinclair, and Yi Sang) and see how cruel and unfair of the life they went through. Dante sees them all since they resonated as well with the golden boughs and sees a portion of their troubled lives. A normal happening of humanity in The City.
Dante has to draw a "sheep" to Demian, more likely... Dante has to share to Demian the "truth of humanity that they have witnessed through resonance with the Sinners in a refreshed look." In this chapter, it appears that Dante has to share their side of the truth to Demian about Yi Sang's life yet they appear to be at a lost as always. Just like a sheep that strays away from the shepherd's guidance.
Remember Faust's remarks when she stated on what would be Dante's reaction about their decision to suppress the bronze bull when they get their memories back? It is implying for me at least that Dante is a dislikable or negative character. I mean... look at them when we first started the entire game. Demian must have known this too and probably wants to get Dante to draw a sheep for him now that he can have a more "innocent" or understandable outlook about humanity.
In TLP, the sheep (if removing the more complex representations of various literary analysis) is a literal representation of one's ability to appreciate the beauty of all things through the heart despite the appearance. All of the sinner's lives are miserable in some way yet they are still "beautiful" for us because they manage to strive through their problems, they seek on the right of their belief, they live on to face their traumas, and to accept help from others in order to get back up. The disgusting experiences of humanity in The City is a facade that people always see, but the actions they have done that either support or combat those experiences is what makes it beautiful.
The truth of humanity, is the suffering that they have been through.
It would be interesting that Demian has the title of "The Little Prince" as a nod to it.
EDIT: How does my unhealthy insomnia theory get a lot of interactions- I... I am scared.
