The Social Commentary™ about cops would work better if it wasn’t factually wrong.
In the event in question, some kid was literally sitting in public with a realistic pellet gun, and pointing it at people.
Somehow, that got turned into a “playing with a toy gun” when people wanted to get angry. I once argued with someone who insisted it was a “toy gun” even after I corrected her. It’s literally illegal to make toy guns without an orange tip or fully brightly colored.
And this comic’s writer turned it into a “squirt gun”.
Also, the cop who shot the actual kid got fired. He was charged, tried and acquitted. He couldn’t even get hired in a small town in another state before the public outcry lost him the job. The Justice Department investigated.
The system didn’t just call for more training.
I’ve yet to see a single person explain how a cop was supposed to tell the difference between the realistic pellet gun on the top and the real one on the bottom. The best they could do is “well, the 911 caller said it might be a toy gun!”

Turns out loving your “work” is a far cry from loving your industry. Who knew?
Anyway look out for my new show, coming to a streaming platform near you where it will be buried under a monsoon of nigh-identical dogshit

This, plus and inclusion of who was and is doing the selling as well as the buying.
In other words, the whole truth of this stain on humanity, not the convenient cherry-picked aspects of it helpful to building a particular narrative.

honestly the more you talk about how important it is to be “anti-fascist” the less I trust you and this is why
fascism is a mostly-incoherent jumble of terrible emotive ideas and anti-fascists basically have no idea what any of them are. to them “fascism” means “things that are bad” which means “things that are not my politics.”
“fascism” in art is a shortcut for “evil bad guys, I don’t need to go into detail about how and why, we all agree they’re bad” it’s not a political statement it’s not an analysis of fascism it’s not an argument against fascism, fascism is incoherent, it’s just drawing on the knowledge that we all know fascism is bad
AoT is one of the few pieces of media I can think of that is anti-fascist in any substantive way: it presents the beliefs that underlie fascism, and shows how ruinously tragically horrifically wrong they are and the destruction they cause. It’s not saying “things that have the name fascism are bad, I am so smart and good for opposing things that I attached the name fascism to.” it’s saying “whatever you call it, this is what happens when people actually have and act on these beliefs; shit’s pretty fucked.”
and the property of actually being substantively anti-fascist, actually addressing it and what it is and why and from where it comes, is enough to make all these people agree “oh yeah this story is totally fascist.”
if someone makes a huge deal about how they are anti-child molestation and have to tirelessly fight against child molestation and oppose sinister pro-molestation forces, then that tells you they don’t care about children nearly as much as they want to hurt and control others. if someone makes a huge deal about avoiding fascist art and fascist messages and the rising tide of fascism, that tells you they’re upset that people make art for reasons other than telling them how smart and right they are.

Why do conservatives arguments boil down to accusing people of being afraid of the big scawy gun and not that we want to stop people from dying?

I honestly believe these people are telling on themselves with this shit. It’s almost like not only are THEY the actual authoritarians, but they are also idiots who can’t think for themselves.
btw you should absolutely read stuff you don't agree with. you should think critically about it. you should reflect and find different stimuli and maybe even form your own thought based on or opposed to it. ideas aren't contagious and reading words someone else has told you are "bad" won't infect you like a virus and make you "evil". read with your own brain.

Uh... what?
I’m smart enough to listen to a Nazi’s beliefs and arguments, formulate my opinions, come to the conclusion that his beliefs are laughable, and then prove it... by laughing at them. Why? Because I know better.
Yeah, yeah, sure, “You are not immune to propaganda” and shit like that, but don’t act like you can’t debunk it. You can. If you think you can’t, you’re giving Nazi ideology much more power than it actually has.
