ACOSF was marketed as a mental health "healing," arc, yet there are so many parallels between the IC's treatment of Nesta and Tamlin's treatment of Feyre.
It was abuse when Tamlin locked Feyre up in the spring court manor, but "healing" when Feysand locked Nesta up in the HoW?
It was abuse when Tamlin treated Feyre so horribly that she had a mental breakdown, but "healing" when Cassian did the same to Nesta?
It was abuse when Tamlin ignored Feyre's well-being, but "healing" when Cassian ignored Nesta's well-being?
It was abuse when Tamlin and Ianthe tried to control Feyre, but "healing" when the IC controlled Nesta?
It was abuse when Tamlin lost control of his temper and destroyed his study, but "healing" when Rhysand lost control of his temper and was constantly threatening to kill Nesta?
SJM just used "mental health" as a reason to pick apart Nesta and change her into a character that she liked, while using "healing" as a guise to punish Nesta for letting Feyre hunt. There's a reason Nesta antis who want Nesta to be abused, mistreated, and miserable the rest of her life love how she was treated in this book, and it's not because Nesta was healed at the end.

the color of his hair wouldn't keep him from the throne then. he'd step on anyone that dare to challenge him

One of my favourite Gwyn moments. The love, the friendship, the selflessness, the passion to face death beside Nesta. Nesta of all people knows how it feels like to be singled out, to be hated and to be demonised. Gwyn telling her that she’d rather die than leave her alone is the best way to heal someone like Nesta. Rather than taking her on a punishment hike or being constantly critical of her opinionated headfast personality, viper tongue and roughened edges. I’ve told this before and I’ll reiterate it at every damn chance : The Valkyries & The House are the true love of Nesta in acosf.

"Nesta's so cruel to us," say the cruelest people in this entire series.
"Nesta's an Illyrian at heart," say the ones metaphorically clipping her wings and trying to control her.
"Nesta would thrive in the Court of Nightmares," say the ones abusing her.
"Nesta has rage issues," say the ones who can't control their tempers.
"Nesta may spite us," say the ones who condoned Feyre destroying an entire court out of spite.
"Nesta makes everyone's trauma about herself," say those who make Nesta's trauma all about them.
"Nesta needs to be physically restrained," say those who are constantly threatening her with physical violence.
"Nesta may hurt Feyre in a fit of rage," say those who watched Feyre burn the LoA in a fit of rage.
"Nesta needs to be punished for telling the truth," say those who withheld vital information.
"Nesta's a slut," say those who spent their entire twenties sleeping with any female who showed interest, oftentimes in the same room as each other.
"Nesta's an alcoholic," say those who, canonically, drink more than her.
"Nesta needs to apologize to us," say those who never apologize to Nesta.
"Nesta needs to be held accountable," say those who never suffer the consequences of their actions.
"Nesta had no right to give Bryce the Mask," say those who can't wield or control the Mask.
"Nesta will answer to Prythian for what she did," say those who never answered to Prythian for releasing death-gods onto it.
"Nesta doesn't hate you," say those who just told Nesta that everyone hated her.

Babysitting (Elucien) sounds fun!
I am currently pregnant and have had baby on the brain. I liked the idea of Elain and Lucien accidentally end up babysitting Nyx together after Elain is struggling with those difficult newborn nights. I’ve always had this vision of them arguing over how to get Nyx asleep and when they finally manage it, they realize they’re half cuddling already and if one were to move, it would certainly wake up baby Nyx and no way in hell was that gonna happen. Force proximity for the win.
It was well beyond midnight. What was she doing? “Elain,” Lucien breathed, his chest heaving, his eyes searching for the source of danger, “Are you alright?”
She stared at him, eyes wide, face pale. Something was not right. Lucien’s eyes took Elain in, really took her in this time, the mechanical eye whirring with confusion. The first thing he noticed were the bags under her eyes, her normally perfect hair in complete disarray, and a rather foul odor coming from Nyx himself. Lucien realized rather quickly perhaps Nyx was the only danger to his mate.
“M-my lady, I apologize, I thought you were under duress.” Lucien slowly moved to sheath his sword.
Elain’s nose crinkled.
“I am in duress,” Elain’s voice cracked, bouncing the infant despite the tears pooling at her eyes.

why is sansa stark hating so common. like she's a little girl. she's terrified, she's trapped, she's being handed from one pedophile to the next, she saw her dad's head get cut off, she's alone, all her siblings are dead, her mom is dead, she's 11 years old, she's supposed to be making rubber band loom bracelets and listening to one direction, she's just a kid. all the most evil characters in the book hate her for no reason other than she's ned's kid. she's also a very smart, polite, and kind girl. she's preppy in the first book, but her greatest sin is what? being a girl? being a little girl? being a bit snooty (which she quickly gets beaten out of her anyway)? yall are horrible

Sandor’s Age in ASOIAF Matters
Look, I know we all love RMC on GoT, and I do too, but the fact of the matter is, the Aging Up of Sandor Clegane for the TV show is not an insignificant detail. There is a very good reason why GRRM made Sandor the age he is in the books, and as we can see from the show, if you make him any older (and hell, even if you make him any younger), the whole dynamic of his character arc and his relationships with other characters are affected greatly. Here’s why:
1. Processing Trauma
In the books, we are introduced to Sandor when he is around 28 years old. He’s considered “old” by some standards, but he is still very much a young man, still in his prime years. We’ve all been 28 before – it’s indeed a tricky age where you’re no longer a kid but you can still get away with being one sometimes. You still have a free pass to make mistakes and act like an idiot before you turn the dreaded 3-0. In Sandor’s case, he’s been emotionally stunted since about the age of 6, when his brother changed his life forever. The repercussions are still fresh when we meet Sandor in AGoT. And given his age, it is perfectly understandable and believable. Compare this to a man in his 40s, as show-Sandor is – a man who has had about 15 extra years to live with and process his trauma. I’m no psychologist, but having been around victims of trauma (and having gone through plenty of my own), childhood abuse looks much different on a 28-year-old than it does on a 45-year-old. The trauma is still there, yes, but it manifests itself differently as one ages. We saw this a little bit with show-Sandor, in that he seemed significantly more “subdued” than his book counterpart. Which makes sense, but then fast-forward to his confiding in Arya in Season 4, and he just seems… pitiful. And I do not think we are meant to pity Sandor. Sympathize and perhaps even empathize, yes, but the show truly did make him out to look like just a “sad old hound” as opposed to the passionate, angry young man whom Elder Brother describes as being “driven by hate”.
This is NOT to say that Sandor should have just “gotten over it” at a certain age; what I am saying is that, in his 40s, he would have been more hardened and “set in his ways” and not as predisposed to “redemption” as he might be in his late-20s.
2. Relationships with the Stark girls
Let’s start with Arya. She and Sandor are basically bookends. Arya is a little girl currently in the throes of childhood trauma while Sandor is the walking talking result of childhood trauma. They are mirrors for each other – she is a mirror of his past, and he is a mirror of her (possible) future. And because Sandor has failed so miserably at processing his own trauma, there is no way in hell he could be capable of serving as any sort of comfort or confidant for Arya. Emotionally, he’s still about Arya’s age, and biologically he’s still young enough to get away with behaving like that. On the show, because of his advanced age, he came off like a (really horrible) father figure and (equally horrible) babysitter. In the books, although he was her protector and there were some fatherly elements, their relationship was more akin to an annoying brother-sister dynamic.
As for Sansa*, I think it goes without saying at this point that the age difference between her and Sandor on the show makes many people suuuuper uncomfortable, and indeed it’s likely a huge factor contributing to their relationship being so watered-down. But in the books, their age difference (which is roughly the same as between Jaime and Brienne, btw) is important because it highlights just how immature Sandor is without making him look totally pathetic. Sansa, as a 12-year-old, is quite clearly the “adult” in this relationship, while Sandor is the man-child on cusp of “true” adulthood and constantly teetering on that threshold. The age difference here is close enough that, if they do end up together romantically once Sansa is a little older, it won’t make quite as many people uncomfortable, but it’s far enough away to serve a developmental purpose for both characters – for both of them to GROW. Inasmuch as Sandor helps Sansa thicken her skin, Sansa helps Sandor eventually realize it’s time for HIM to grow up and move on. It’s not too late – he’s at the perfect age to reach that crossroad. Which brings me to…
3. Quiet Isle Rehabilitation
I’ve mused before about how Sandor’s stay on the Quiet Isle couldn’t possibly be an endgame for him, and one of the primary reasons for it is (you guessed it) his age. He is far too young still, and with far too much life ahead of him, to be content living out the rest of his days in servitude on a secluded island. As I said above, he is at a crossroads – he’s making the transition from bitter, angry man-child to an honest-to-goodness GROWN-UP. Sandor is currently receiving the help he needs to be a productive member of society (whatever that society ends up looking like after The War), and he’s young enough still to make that change and have it stick. He’s not too old and “set in his ways” yet; there is still a chance for him, and he has that chance right now. Compare that to a man in his mid-40s who may very well decide that his best days are behind him anyway and choose a peaceful “retirement” on the Isle where no one can bother him anymore.
It’s not too late for Sandor Clegane. Make him any older, and it might be. Make him any younger, and he might be too resistant to change just yet. Now is the perfect time, and Martin made him the perfect age for this story.
( *A good visual representation of their age difference is the music video for Sia’s “Elastic Heart” – Shia & Maddie were both the same ages as Sandor and Sansa at the time of the BoBW. Also a good interpretation of their relationship in general, from Sandor’s POV anyway… complete with birdcage. ;-) )
