Bonds of love

Genus Lonicera L. (1753)

The sentiments of bonds of love and related, and of devoted affection, are easily reached from the honeysuckle - it climbs forest trees and holds them tight, marking them for life:

The Honeysuckle has ever been the emblem of firm and fast affection—as it climbs round any tree or bush, that is near it, not only clinging to it faster than Ivy, but keeping its hold so tight as to leave its mark in deep furrows on the tree that has supported it. (Ellacombe 127)

Other writers expand upon the simple idea. For Phillips in Floral Emblems:

This happy emblem reminds us that sweetness of disposition is a firmer tie than dazzling beauty. (83)

Waterman goes in a different direction:

It was said that this feeble tree, thus shooting into the air, would overtop the king of the forest; but, as if its efforts were unavailing, it soon recoiled, and with graceful negligence adorned its friendly supporter with elegant festoons and perfumed garlands. (102)

Adams, in his Oriental Textbook, compares the woodbine in verse to an adoring bride hanging from her lover. Tyas in Language of Flowers, on the other hand, makes the ties of the honeysuckle not to a person, but to the land where one's childhood was spent.

It really hit me like a freight train I found it, bc I was so impressed to hear a podcast that polished and beautiful from the instant I hit play on the trailer. The setting, worldbuilding, soundscaping, writing, music, and voice acting are just so gorgeous!! The detective trio hold such a special place in my heart. To thank you, I decided to animate a couple lines from episode 10! I was originally gonna do just Bea, but what I recorded as practice cut off at the perfect time for a meme, so I just went with it. An exploration of memory, of what it means to love, of lust and greed and hunger, the hunger in us all. For warmth, for the feeling of another, for absolution, for another chance. It's a look at how memory can be bent and twisted, how fragile and breakable it is, how hard it is to hold onto, even the easy things. It's also about having horny thoughts about your coworkers, so like, yeah.

This was actually the first episode we got to do for Woodbine (outside of the Q&A) where we had me, Emily, Ian, and Rob all together in the room. It's a good time, I can tell you that.
