I've been listening to Epic the musical (10/10 would recommend) on repeat for months now and somehow it's culminated in me revisiting AC Odyssey and getting my grubby little hands on any book about ancient Greece that I can. Hyperfixation at its best ya'll!

I haven't been able to get this concept out of my head after replaying the game. It's based (very, very loosly) on a fic I read some time ago where Kassandra raises Alexios (I think its: If It Began Differently by Madoking on ao3).

The story I've been working on is almost entirely a different thing but the general premise is the same just in reverse, with Alexios raising Kassandra (and also Phoibe when her parents die). I just love exhausted, overprotective dad Alexios trying to keep his dumbass children out of trouble. Mentally trying to work out how a 9 year old is meant to raise an infant and work around the main plot has been an entertaining exercise.

I've been doing more writing than anything for this, but here are some of the concepts I've been working out! I've tried to keep the designs close to cannon for the most part, but there were some necessary changes to make.

Five things that make very happy rn in no particular order:

1. The ocean, always a banger regardless of season or weather I feel so much better when I’m by the sea. I love taking a cold plunge whenever Im stressed or happy

2. Dungeons and dragons with my friends, I am so grateful that we’ve found something that can bring us together regularly especially over the summer when we’re all living far away (and I love scaring them with my puppet)

3. Bloopers that make it clear that everyone had a blast working on the film/tv show

4. Pretty flowers! It’s cherry blossom season rn and the wildflowers are beginning to come out

5. Sunlight on my skin

It *is* a problem that charismatic species are often focused on for conservation at the expense of less charismatic but important species, but threatened species that are the subject of a lot of public outreach and education are also typically strategically selected.

I suspect that monarch butterflies are an example of this. Milkweed is a highly valuable plant for pollinators and a host plant for like. 400+ insect species. Getting people to plant it to save monarchs is funny because you're essentially finessing people into saving a ton of other insects that they wouldn't ordinarily care about

Design notes!

I gave Brasidas some theoretically more historically accurate armor mostly because I didn’t want to draw his canon armor lol

Also I was thinking about the logistics of his extremely not historically accurate hair and how it would actually work and the only thing I could come up with is that Brasidas has a mullet 😳

In my mind Kassandra lowkey hates armor because she’s didn’t grow up fighting with armor and she’s not used to it, so she really just wears a shoulder harness that’s main purpose is to be a comfy perch for Ikaros and strap her spear to her back. Also, I don’t like drawing armor sue me

I also headcanon that her hair is pretty wild and curly when it’s not safely contained in her braid, kinda like a lion’s mane

Finally finished this artwork, I can't even stress how much hours I spent on it and I'M SO DONE

The result is pretty good. So that makes me a bit happy
