I am so impressed with how good of a dude Eddie Brock is. Yes he screws up when it comes to getting himself and Anne in trouble, but he’s so blessedly KIND and LOVING as a character. He’s so appreciative of Anne as a boyfriend, thanking her and being complimentary, saying he knows he’s lucky, just genuinely being a really good, thoughtful boyfriend. He’s emotionally vulnerable in front of her, admitting he misses her and wants her back, but not pressuring her. He goes to her because he trusts her, not because he’s trying to win her back. He doesn’t dislike her new boyfriend, just is hurt she moved on. Her new boyfriend genuinely LIKES him. Eddie is kind to transients and shopkeepers and genuinely cares about them as people. Eddie is a deeply decent dude. He’s upset and doesn’t know what’s going on, not belligerent. His strongest moment is when he so frantically and brokenly tells Anne he’s SCARED (chalk that up to Hardy’s amazing acting).
While Venom may have physically infected Eddie, it’s Eddie who metaphorically infects Venom with humanity. It’s Eddie’s core of decency that convinces Venom that maybe this planet isn’t all that bad and humans are at least interesting.
I’m reminded of Jason Momoa’s character in Braven that was made so likable because of how SOFT he was and open with his wife and family, made even more poignant with how aggressively masculine Momoa looks. There’s a similar feel to Tom Hardy. He looks like he could roll up to a bar fight, but there is such a vulnerability there. These are good characters. This is a welcome trend in action movie heroes who have no trouble being kind and good and open emotionally.

venom is such a good movie. not because it's well written or anything, but because the villain is basically a slightly less evil elon musk and the hero is the saddest, grossest, most pathetic man you've ever seen in your life, and his freakish alien boyfriend, who kill a bunch of cops and have weird makeout sessions
#rewatched the first movie in anticipation of watching the 3rd soon#just as much of a masterpiece as I remember

I could watch a hundred more sequels of this sweaty loser disaster man and his gay loser alien goo husband

NASA advertising "do you want to be an astronaut" to tumblr users surely means something. What have you found out there, NASA? What have you found that you believe tumblr users, specifically, are best equipped to handle?

At first I thought venom was using their feet to protect Eddie because he’s barefooted. But nah Eddie had crocs on. This loser really went out to stop bad guys wearing Hawaiian shirt and crocs.
Eddie how I missed you so

Veddie/Symbrock is basically the ship where a loser is divorced by his wife, then ends up forming a strange bond with the monster under his bed. They don't understand each other at first, but then realize they complete each other, because neither can fit into society and are only compatible with each other.
