1842-1867 "The archive and secretariat was located at home or as one would say 'in the bookcase' of the secretary"

Secretariat of the Maatschappij tot Bevordering der Bouwkunst (MBB) from 1842-1867

Till 1850 the secretariat and the archive was located at home or ‘bookcase’ of the sectretary. The first home of the MBB was at I. Warnsincks’ house at the Leliegracht in Amsterdam from 1842 till 1846. In 1850 the broad of the MBB decided to settle in a rented room in Hotel De Ster, in the Nes in Amsterdam, which later became theater/café Tivoli.

“Later Leliman made a proposal to make next year's competition about a design for an architecture museum wherefore the winning submission would be rewarded with 100 gulden, which he paid with his own savings.”

J.H.W. Leliman offers a prize of 100 gulden to the winner of the next year's competition to design an architecture museum during the 500th meeting
