Mock Exhibtion of project, taken on my dining table, had to swap out light bulb for torch as miss placed it. The brown and white markings on the table allow it to be a part of the project instead on an extention.

12th April 2020,
I have been advised that I should be on my second or third sketchbook and the one I am currently working in isn’t sufficant.
I deem this blog to be a second sketchbook/extension of my sketchbook. Thus, in my mind, I do have two sketchbooks.

10th April 2020,
Just found out that I have lost my job, so I have no other income than SAAS which is only for rent and bills which too stops in a month.
I have no money or form of income so any further experimentation and addition to my projects are to be done with what I have to hand (which is very minimal). I cannot afford to buy ANYTHING other than essentails for surviving and I cannot ask family for money because my dad is high risk with MS with no immune system a regualr cold could put him in the hospital and they need what income they have to keep him alive and healthy!
I am trying to apply for universal credit but that too may fall through becasue of Will’s salary the goverment may deem it to be enough (it is not).
All art is postponed and having to take a different turn to accommodate. I am very stressed and freaking out right now that I am nowhere near the right mindset to be creative I need time just to collect my thoughts and get to grips with what is important before I continue anything further.

10th April 2020,
I’m finding it harder and harder to be self motivated when everyday COVID-19 is getting worse and worse.
I have been able to do this in my sketchbook, simplistic yin and yang symbols with different backgrounds. I chose the blue to try a varied colour palette compared to my usual black. The minimalist style instead of the traditional is so the focus can be more on the colouring.
The watercolour worked out well for this but the black doesn’t look as striking compared to the blue.

I am struggling to find motivation and drive to continue working with all going on in the world. I am able to at most only do an hour or two of work which isnt nearly enough for me to do what has been asked of me from my lecturers.

I’ve been slacking in updating blog becasue of the COVID-19 climate and fear of safety of high risk dad.
I have read Pablo Helguera’s ‘Education of Socially Engaged Art’ in chapter 2 pages 14-17 he discusses multi layered participating structures. from reading this I have refined my personal stance on the topic in regards of my artowrks.
My boxes are directed participation instructing viewers to open the boxes and muster their outcomes. Thus, in turn, also falls under nominal participation having the viewers reflect and analyse the artworks.

24th March 2020,
due to the current climate of the COVID-19 pandemic I am solely working from home.
The country is in lockdown at the moment, the end of year show has been cancelled as a result thus the element of audience participation is redundant. I have thought of trying out a box at my front door saying ‘open me’ but as I live in an area with elderly and other high risk people, it isn’t wise to do. Also the boxes are cardboard and impossible to disinfect thoroughly to not infect myself or others with the virus.
I am continuing to paint the boxes as well as trying out a small set up at home and have my boyfriend be my guinea pig and do the audience participation. In a private home viewing.
I am also going to be doing small mural style painting and drawings of yin and yang symbolism to further highlight the influence of the ancient proverb within this project.

Painting ‘Black Box’ with Stuart Semple Black 3.0 the paint needs to be layered to get a full effect, cool air needed not hot or cracks appear when making it matte.
Very effective exactly what I am wanting to get full impact just need to paint inside white (hindsight should’ve done white first then the black) to emphasise black.
