Assignment #4
Part 1
Face 1: She has a striking face. I believe her occupation is an artist. Specifically a painter. As I said before, her appearance is striking due to her pale skin and hair contrasting with her bright graphic printed clothes. Her face is stern, unlike her jumpsuit.
Face 6: Face 6 is definitely a photographer. They’re giving off a hipster vibe in the photo between the fedora, scarf, and the cardigan. They seem very loose as a person, very carefree and creative.
Face 10:  10 I think is an actor, or in the fashion industry. All black is a common choice for those in the theater community. He looks a little lost though, sad even. I’d say he was a wizard if that were a real occupation, but alas, it’s not.
Part 2
Face 1:  An image consultant, in my opinion, is an artist. so her being an image consultant not surprising for me. the surprising thing for me was that she held a strong face for God. Most of the time when you see an artist you don't think of religion except in terms of the Renaissance Era paintings yes. So to see someone with strong religious beliefs like her, it is a little shocking.
Face 6:  Now that I've read that face 6 is a singer-songwriter, I can definitely see him as that. I was a little surprised that he was not a photographer but it's not so surprising that I was floored with shock. After reading his description I can see where he's coming from with the whole searching for himself thing. It does show you that we are all just kind of searching for ourselves along the way.
Face 10: I was so surprised when he said he is a musician and the host of the TV show (which is kind of an actor). Also, I feel like I kind of hit the mark on the whole wizard prediction. Especially when he talks about clairvoyance and precognition. As well as him talking about being outside of time when he mentions his age.

Asssignment #3
Part 1
Kairos means making a choice at the right time with concurring matters
Part 2
Mark came off as the type of person I would not hire if I was in charge of hiring people. He boasts a lot about his achievements but doesn't say how beneficial they would be to the job he is applying for. A good thing he could’ve done was provide examples of how his more grander achievements would translate into profitable skills to benefit the company. He claims that he has good time management skills yet decides to work two jobs, which clearly must have eaten away at his studying time as he ends the semester with a 3.93 GPA, dropping what we must presume was a perfect GPA of 4.0. In the second paragraph’s last sentence, he brags about how much he benched and how many pull-ups he did. No one needs to know this piece of useless information, let alone a banking firm. This is a feat completely irrelevant to any professional job sans those related to the body fitness world. Even though he states at the end of his resume that he isn't trying to be a braggart, he does come off as one. Throughout the entire cover letter, he's bragging about himself, and not talking about how he would be a great fit for this job. He is so focused on himself throughout the entire cover letter that it makes up about 50% or more of the body. I hope he doesn’t get a job and the failure to do so gives him a much-needed reality check that he needs so much.

Assignment #2
Part 1 I think Miss Weiss makes a valid point in her article, “To (All) the Colleges That Rejected Me.” In my experience the more you’re doing to “give back” to the community, the higher the chances are that you’ll survive admissions. Most colleges nowadays only want the cream of the crop. The average student will never be good enough for them anymore. They put so much emphasis on being unique and having the highest test scores that your average student has almost no chance of being recognized for their own accomplishments. When there’s a kid who has a near perfect GPA, spends her summers on church mission trips to Africa to help children in poverty get an education, Average Joe on her left does start to look a little bleak in comparison.
Part 2 In the email about the student sampling the three classes, she had originally stated that she had no idea about the professor's policy in regards to tardiness. I believe that she could have used a good amount of common sense before going into classes as late as an hour. She should have realized that not many people are ok with being interrupted during the first day of the school semester. Not only is this type of behavior rude to the students who actually want to take the class. It’s awkward and impolite to walk into a class late. Most of the student stop what they’re doing to look at who just arrived, effectively halting any and all progress the students have made since the class began. For this reason alone, I try to show up ahead of time to all of my classes so I can forego any awkward situations.

In the Sprite commercial we see a perfect example the use of ethos. In this commercial we see LeBron James make an appearance. Throughout the commercial we see him telling us that he won’t, under any circumstances, tell us to drink Sprite. By doing this he’s getting closer to the viewer by showing us that he will go around what the company wants, to tell the viewers the truth. Instead, at the end of the commercial he asks us if we want a Sprite.

In this Japanese Amazon commercial, we can see a perfect depiction of pathos. The commercial shows the appeal, pathos, by having the viewer feel sorry for the dog when the baby doesn’t get along with it. Then they show the husband buy a costume for the dog on Amazon, so the child doesn’t get scared around the dog. By doing this, the commercial plays on the viewers emotions, giving us that “aww” moment.
