Thankfully, the restraints seemed to hold up fairly well. First things first, try to calm down the giant fluff.
“Jer, you need to settle down,” he told him. He doubt that Jer would listen to any logic or words at that moment, but it was best to start out with this. “Nobody’s going to take away your stowaway. If you don’t settle down, you won’t be able to get your chip removed.”
He glanced over at Adrian and his arm. Ouch. He’d be fine though, he could heal himself, right? Thorek couldn’t remember if he could. He turned his attention to Vlad. He had a lot more experience dealing with Jer than him.
“Give him some space?” Thorek almost asked Vlad. If this was anything like a normal animal, Jer would want some space with just him and the baby.
The situation was going downhill fast. Jer wouldn’t release his grip on Adrian’s arm, since his jaws were locked. The chimera ignored anything spoken to him, he just needed to get away. He needed to get his baby away and be safe. The restraints groaned and one of his ankle straps snapped free.
“J-Jer, it’s me. It’s just me, I’m safe, remember? -ow- We’re all safe.” Adrian tried to reassure Jer with his words, but Jer was set into this...primal mode of his and it seemed like there was little he could do to shake him free of it. Even Thorek mentioning his chip went completely over his head.
The baby began to quiet a little, having been startled by Jer’s sudden movement and Adrian’s shriek more than anything.
Vlad had stood by, observing, until things seemed to settle enough for him to intervene. “Giving him space is the plan. After I do what I promised. It would be one less thing he’d have to worry about once he comes to his senses.” He stated, determined. “Adrian, er...just continue distracting him.”
Adrian gave him a pained, incredulous look. “I -- Alright? -augh-”
Trying not to make any sudden moves, Vlad carefully picked up one of the syringes he’d prepared earlier. Then, with reflexes a man his age shouldn’t normally possess, he lunged forward and placed a well-aimed shot at Jer’s upper arm.
The chimera jolted, and it took him a second to unlock his jaws from Adrian’s arm to snap at Vlad’s. Vlad had already stepped back out of range by the time the teeth clicked shut. The baby began to wail again from all the chaos, and with his heartbeat going a mile a minute, it didn’t take long for Jer’s eyes to begin drooping.
“There. Normally I wouldn’t think of sedating Jeremiah, but since his core is dormant there’s no reason not to.” Vlad stated matter-of-factly.

The narration was, a bit weird, but he shrugged it off. Thorek had not been expecting Jer to look so…wild. While anxious, shifty and the like patients were never unusual, it was never quite like this, and it was odd. However, he remained calm. He finished up with making sure the baby didn’t have fluid in their nose.
“Hold on a minute,” Thorek told Jer, handed over the stowaway. He got the placenta out as well, handing it to Vlad. “I think he’s a bit anxious about how she’s doing, let him or Adrian have her.” Thorek quickly did a mental count of his tools. Yup. All were out, and he was able to quickly heal up his surgical cuts with a light blue glow.
“Hmm...” Vlad coddled the newborn (and grimaced a bit at the extra bit Thorek handed him) while observing Jer’s sudden change in demeanor. It was...very similar to a situation Jer’s mother, Trina had described in her notes.
He was so busy observing that he hesitated to take Thorek’s advice until he could hear the restraints on the bed straining. Vlad was cautious, and gently held out the newborn to her father...s? He’d figure out the taxonomy later.
Jer ignored Vlad’s presence once the baby was in reach. She mewled quietly when he snatched her up, but was quiet after a moment. Jer seemed to settle down, too.
At least until Adrian reached out in awe to touch the baby’s matted red hair. Jer let out a loud snarl and locked his jaws onto Adrian’s arm with a loud SNAP. Adrian yelped in surprise more than anything, and the baby began wailing again. It only served to make Jer struggle against his restraints even more.

“Of course,” Thorek oblidged. He hadn’t seen the normal tool they’d use, but this was easy to improvise. He pulled over a rolling, adjustable light. He bent it, and he threw a medical blanket over it to shield Jer’s view. “Recording’s fine.”
Thorek had already counted the tools he had brought with him, and the number was written in sharpie on the clothe they were resting on. While leaving tools behind in this kind of surgery was rare, it did happen.
“Everybody’s here that needs to be here,” Thorek observed, and he picked up some tongs with a cotton ball soaked in antiseptic. “So I’m guessing we’re ready to have a stowaway.”
He adjusted Jer’s hospital gown a bit, and he rubbed the area he’d be cutting before putting it aside. He grabbed his other tools, and he began to cut.
As promised, it did not take him long to cut through at all.
“Vlad,” he spoke up as a bit of a verbal warning as he set his tools aside. Shortly afterwards, he had pulled the stowaway out. Thorek got a bulb syringe, and he began removing liquids from the baby’s nose as the stowaway began to squirm.
“Thank you, just a moment.” Vlad nodded and pressed a switch on his glasses as Thorek rigged a makeshift curtain for Jer. The lenses flashed brightly for a brief moment, before returning to normal. “This is Vlad Masters, documenting observation period 548 for PC01 dash 1046; Jeremiah Daniel O’Neill. Reason should be...obvious, but unexpected. I will explain in detail in my report, but at the moment, we need to deal with the situation at hand.” Once his opening was completed, he gave the ghostly doctor the go ahead.
Jer jolted when he was touched by the antiseptic, but the restraints kept him mostly still. He wheezed and gripped Adrian’s arm for dear life. Adrian gripped Jer’s arm too, as he tried to keep himself together as the surgery progressed. It was...a little painful, but nothing his empathetic link couldn’t handle. Not nearly as bad as he’d expected.
It didn’t take as long as he’d expected, either.
Vlad was ready when Thorek warned him, with a soft cloth in hand to help clean the baby. He paused to peek at Jer, and was surprised to see that the chimera looked...relieved.
Jer’s short respite didn’t last long, though. The baby let out a short, gurgled wail after they hit the air, and suddenly Jer was very alert. He locked his eyes on Thorek, and with a terrified, wild look, began struggling against his restraints in a desperate attempt to get to the baby.
His husband’s struggles sent stabbing pains through Adrian’s link, and it took every ounce of concentration to try and hold Jer back without passing out.

Thorek cracked a smile at their exchange. Once he had the scrubs on, he went to wash his and forearms at the sink. Once he finished, he slipped on the latex gloves, and he pulled over the small collection of surgery tools he had brought.
“If you feel pain or discomfort or anything, just let me know, okay?” he told Jer. Guy looked nervous as hell, and he didn’t blame him. Of course, he was waiting on Adrian and Vlad before he began cutting. “In a few minutes, you’re going to have a little stowaway.”
Once he was in his own scrubs, Vlad attached a small Packer’s pin on the collar (of course) and put his glasses back on. “I hope you don’t mind, I’m going to record this for Jer’s files.” He mentioned off-handedly.
Jer wheezed, but was trying his hardest not to panic. It wasn’t working. “Can - I don’t - Can I not see it please.” He blurted out. “T-the surgery part.”
Adrian slipped back into the room wearing purple scrubs that actually fit his tall frame. “I’m back.” He sat back down next to Jer and gently squeezed his shoulder.
Jer relaxed a little, but...this was still happening. This was really happening. Oh my god.

True. Supernatural powered electricity probably didn’t exactly work like normal electricity. Ah well. Jer didn’t need to be strapped in (hopefully) anyway.
“Yeah, it’s a nifty ability,” he admitted. “Had I not had it, probably would have never become a doctor to be honest.”
He glanced over at Jer sympathetically. Poor guy. Thorek gave a nod.
“It should be kicking in soon, if it hadn’t already,” he told him. “So yeah, I’ll go wash my hands and put some scrubs on. Vlad, you’ll need some too. Adrian, you’d technically need some too.” He glanced at the other’s tall frame. “But uh, I’m not sure how well they’ll fit length-wise.”
He went over to one of the drawers, where he had found some scrubs earlier, and he grabbed a pair to begin slipping over his clothes.
“Indeed. And healing him immediately is going to be the best thing we could do, since Jeremiah is not very good at bed rest.”
Jer snorted, feeling the need to defend himself, since Vlad kept talking about him like he wasn’t here. “W-well, you have the bedside manner of a leather shoe.”
Vlad laughed - truly laughed - and shook his head in amusement. “Adrian, the tall scrubs; they’re in the other room.” “Right, sir.” Adrian replied, hesitating at Jer’s side for a moment longer before leaving the room. Vlad joined Thorek in putting on his own scrubs.
Since Jer was already wearing a patient’s gown, was quickly going numb from the chest down and was currently strapped to the bed, he could do little more than huff and hug his pillow.

Thorek gave a soft smile at Jer’s and Vlad’s exchange. It was nice, seeing a Vlad that cared for somebody in a genuine way.
“You could have always wrapped rubber or such around the metal ones,” Thorek pointed out, watching the floof get strapped in. “I don’t plan on manually stitching him up, just quickly heal it up myself. Faster, and he doesn’t have to worry about stitches or scars or anything. So whenever the little one’s all situated, you should be able to go ahead and do what you need to do. Did you want any help or assistance with it?”
Jer seemed to be relaxing more and more. Good, the drug was beginning to kick in. Thorek shook his head no at Adrian’s comment.
“No rush, I was just curious at to what names you were thinking of,” he admitted. Plus, casual conversations tended to help most patients feel better and calm down. “How you feeling so far, Jer?”
“I’ve tried to find a substance to insulate against Jeremiah’s brand of electro-kinesis, but it’s just downright impossible. And even if I insulated the straps, we’d be the next available target.” Vlad replied as he busied himself strapping Jer in.
Even if Jer was pretty out of it, he was aware enough to feel guilt as Vlad talked about his powers. His brows furrowed and he clenched his eyes shut.
Vlad picked up on this, and decided a change of subject was necessary. “Ah yes, your convenient healing powers. I’m thankful, honestly, since I doubt he’s going to sit still long enough for stitches to heal after the baby is out.”
Jer slumped a bit as he relaxed again. He was so, utterly exhausted. “Nmm. N...nervous.” He swallowed loudly. “Can we hurry? This doesn’t...feel okay.”

Thorek was not sure of what Vlad was really talking about. He suspected it had to do with the removing of Jer’s chip, or something along those lines, but he didn’t question it too much.
He briefly wiped down the back of Jer’s neck. Damn Jer had a lot of hair. Thorek lightly rubbed Jer’s back comfortingly as he reached over to get the injection. With a light poke, he gave him the shot, before patting his shoulder.
“You can lean back again. It should kick in in about five to ten minutes, but let me know if it’s not working,” he told Jer. He gave a nod at Vlad. “Yeah, we can likely wait as long as needed to cut the cord. It’s normally just cut immediately so that the parents can get their baby as soon as possible, you’d just have to wait for me to get the placenta before you run off.”
“Did you guys have any ideas on a name?” Thorek wondered. “Or just unable to pick from names that you know you like?”
Jer was shaking the slightest bit when he felt the pinch on the back of his neck - it was only Adrian holding tightly onto his arm that kept him from jerking forward. Still, he clicked his teeth a few times in a knee-jerk reaction to bite at the pain in his neck.
When Thorek told him he could lie back again, he did so. The bursts of muscle cramps were more frequent, but less sudden now. He was even starting to relax the slightest bit. Adrian gave him an empathetic smile and draped his arm over Jer's shoulders. There was a wordless exchange, and Jer nodded.
Vlad had gone to work assembling a tray of syringes, complete with... questionable liquids. "It's been shown to be beneficial to delay the cutting, and Jeremiah asked me to include that in case he was too-" The halfa paused to observe Jer, who was oblivious to the things going on in the background. "--preoccupied to tell you. Just two minutes should be fine, because I'm not going anywhere out of Jeremiah's sight with his child while he's conscious."
Vlad's tone was oddly serious, and he approached the bed to prepare the straps. Jer looked up at him cautiously, his pupils like saucers from stress. "He may not look it, but he can and will break these straps - I used to have metal ones, but well, Jeremiah decided to develop electro-kinesis and I had to downgrade." Jer huffed at him, and Vlad smiled before patting his fluffy hair.
"I have an additional procedure to do after we get everything else situated. It's minor, but I've been putting it off since we discovered Jeremiah's little stowaway and I promised him that I would get it done asap."
Jer was starting to feel very relaxed from the shot Thorek'd given him, and he was less focused on answering and more on trying to remain calm. Adrian perked up to answer Thorek's name question. "Ah, it's...we do have a few ideas, but we're waiting until we meet the babe to settle on one. There's not a rush, right?"

Thorek gave a nod at Vlad.
“Yeah, you pretty much had everything,” he confirmed. “I was waiting for you before I gave Jer his epidural anesthesia so that he’ll be numb.”
Thorek observed Jer, thinking. Core going dormant, and Jer looked nervous as hell. There was a chance of something happening, but Thorek didn’t feel too worried.
“I think we should be fine,” he said confidently. “I trust that things may be a bit dangerous, but this isn’t a very long procedure, rarely longer than fifteen minutes, and he’ll be numb from the mid-chest down. I was just telling them about how he’ll be briefly strapped down. Just to avoid him moving around or slipping.”
“Jer? I’m going to give you the injection, but I’ll need you to sit up. It has to go in the back of your neck,” he explained, and he prevented a wince. That’s where the Guys in White often injected ghosts in his experience, hopefully it wasn’t the same or Jer would be compliant. “Vlad? I’m going to use you during surgery. When I give you the baby, and the cord’s cut and such, don’t take them away just yet to record their footprints, name, whatever you need here. Please just hang out with Jer and Adrian for a bit, least until I finish stitching him up. I’d say just give them to Adrian, but I don’t think it’s a good idea if he’s going to be feeling everything Jer feels, but multiplied. Babies should be close with their parents in the first few hours.”
Vlad looked pleased that they had everything necessary, but scoffed at Thorek’s confidence that they’d all be fine. “I’m not worried about the procedure, that should all go smoothly. I’m worried about what may come after it. But again, that bridge when we find it.” The older halfa carefully removed his suit jacket and fished a small booklet out of one of the pockets, setting it aside.
“I’ve already informed Adrian of what he should do to distract him if things go south, since he’s unbelievably resilient to damage.” Vlad continued, and Adrian grinned sheepishly when he was mentioned.
“...Nnn.” Jer hesitated, but began trying to sit up with difficulty. Adrian helped prop him up the rest of the way, and was amused at how Jer was holding onto him for dear life. He wished he could do something about this fear, but the only thing that would stop it would be knowing the babe was okay.
Vlad nodded at Thorek. “Whatever you need me to do. I was asked though, that if the situation permits, not to cut the cord until at least 120 seconds have passed. Especially in a stressful situation like this. Other than that, I’ll be able to get most of the data later anyhow. You two haven’t decided on a first name yet anyway, correct?”
Jer whined, and Adrian looked nervous again. “Er, not quite yet, no.”

At hearing that Vlad would be here shortly, Thorek mentally prepared himself for that. Despite knowing this particular Vlad, it was still a bit weird for him.
“He can be numbed too, it that helps any,” Thorek offered.
Jer frowned and looked to Adrian for an answer. Adrian just smiled and shook his head. "It likely won't. I'll be fine." He replied to Thorek.
It didn't take long for Vlad to make his way to the room. He rushed in silently, completely distracted by his tablet until he paused and removed one of his earplugs. "...I see you've stopped incessantly screaming. Good." And then he noticed Thorek, greeting him with a smile. "You must be why he's calmed down. Thank you for being here, Dr. Castren. As much as I'd prepared to do this procedure myself, I think all parties involved feel better with an experienced doctor attempting it. Jeremiah, how are you feeling?"
"...Nnno."
"Good, good." Vlad replied. He'd heard Jer in this state before, and there was little he could say to change anything. Instead he set down his folder and turned to Thorek. "Dr. Castren, did you find everything necessary? I tried to supply everything I could think of, but there's always things that slip through the cracks in a hasty situation like this one."
Jer huffed and hugged his pillow again, while Adrian stroked his hair sympathetically.
Vlad continued, his tone turning serous. "However, I ask that you'll trust me if things start to get a little...dangerous. Jeremiah's core has gone dormant, but I'm concerned for other things that may put us in danger. But, we'll cross that bridge if we find it."

Vlad, if nothing else, had to be good at basic research and should have a majority of what Thorek would need. That was good. He wouldn’t need to pick and choose what was most critical and needed, and debate what would could be sacrificed.
“It’ll be okay,” Thorek tried to assure Jer. He looked so nervous and scared. “You’ll just be numb so that you don’t feel pain. No put to sleep or anything. Once the little one’s out, and we’re done, you don’t need to be strapped anymore. If this bed has railings, we’ll just put those up or move you to a normal bed. It’s just for a short while, this is a pretty quick procedure.”
As he talked, he looked around. He found some of what he was looking for, and he laid it out in preperation.
“When Vlad comes back, I’ll give you your epidural anesthetia and your IV. I’d like to have an extra hand with the little one, and I would rather keep Adrian with you rather than over here playing nurse.”
Jer wheezed slightly and rolled his shoulders. “N - not my pain, him.” He mumbled, glancing at Adrian. Adrian winced slightly, a guilty frown flashing on his face before his smile returned and he patted Jer’s face. “Everything will be fine. With Thorek doing the work and Vlad playing nurse, I can rest and we should be fine.”
At the mention of railings, the red-head raised an eyebrow at Jer. “Did he replace the railings after you tried to kill him with them?” “Nnnoo?” “Probably no railings, then.”
The pair of them watched curiously as Thorek gathered the necessary supplies without worry. After a moment, Adrian perked up and glanced off towards the floor somewhere. “Vlad’ll be up momentarily.” He announced. Jer whined nervously and stuffed Adrian’s hand in his mouth, much to his husband’s surprise.

“Yeah, it’s definitely time then,” Thorek told them. He glanced around the room. He had no clue if they had everything he’d need. If nothing else, he could quickly go and get it from the Far Frozen.
“I don’t know what all you have around here, but you will want an epidural anesthesia, bare minimum. Plus, of course, tools, antiseptic and scrubs” he told them. “Typically, you are strapped to the table too. Just to prevent falling off and slipping, since you can move with an epidural anesthesia, but you’re numb from the midchest down. It’s not full on strapped down,” he assured Jer. “Soon as you get your epidural, we can start within five to ten minutes after that, unless you’re wanting to wait on other family to come?”
“Vlad should be up soon, he said he had to get something ready as a precaution, but I believe everything should be up here or in the storage closet. He’s been preparing for this for months. I recall him mentioning that ep...epi-thing, but I’ve not a clue where to find it.”
“Bed has straps. Old bed from the lab, from my treatments.” Jer mumbled, hugging his pillow. He looked a bit like a kicked puppy.
“Vlad fixed up the old lab bed from when Jer needed power suppressants. I think the straps are phase-proofed.”
“Yeah.” Jer squeaked and tensed again. “Family can’t come. Don’t want them right now.”
“Jer’s under observation at the moment so his family isn’t allowed to visit until Vlad publishes the reasons. It’s...complicated.” Adrian hummed and stroked Jer’s hair. “I think he’d rather not have that family circus here for a while.” “Y - yeah.”

Oh good, Adrian didn’t look like a zombified mess. That was good. Jer was the mess this time, more of a fluffy mess than a zombified one though.
“Hey,” he greeted. Everybody else seemed to be in a panic, or they were anxious, so important thing right now was to get everybody to relax a bit. He came over to the couple, glancing at Jer, and he gave him a warm smile, patting his shoulder comfortingly. “What’s our situation? You mentioned baby things?”
Jer whined into his pillow until he finally relaxed and let out a breath.
Adrian sat down on the other side of the bed, gently kicking a pillow that’d fallen off the bed. “We believe it’s time. Vlad was concerned because he’s nearly 10 months, but everything seemed sound until early last night.”
“Not pain, but weird.” Jer blurted out. His grammar was slipping. He whined and chomped back down on the pillow.
Adrian gave his husband an empathetic smile, before answering for him. “So we’re certain there’s nothing wrong, but, eh...we think it’s time to meet the babe. And there’s no real way to do that without some assistance. Vlad could do the surgery, but I think we’d all feel better with an experienced doctor doing it.”

Whelp, that quickly answered his unasked question. Thorek rushed towards the screams, and he slipped into the room that was the source of the screams, looking for pretty much anybody.
“I’m not ready for this I’m not - I wanna to go home -”
“Love, you have to calm down, hug a pillow.” “I don’t want a fucking pillow Adrian, I’m scared.” “What about the fuzzy pillow?” “...O - okay yeah.”
Jer stuffed one corner of the pillow in his mouth just as Thorek slipped into the room. The two of them looked up, and Adrian had a nervous smile. “Oi, thank goodness Thorek, you arrived qui--” “Nny” Jer quietly greeted him through the pillow as Adrian continued. “--ckly. Hopefully things’ll calm down now that you’re here.”
This room was built less like a small apartment, and more like a proper hospital room. Complete with lots of equipment on standby, extra blankets, pillows, and a whole stack of baby things set off in the corner.
Overall, Adrian was looking much better than the last time he’d seen Thorek, but Jer was, well...a fluffy mess. The chimera was so very panicked that his floof was in overdrive, and for a brief moment, he gripped the pillow with a wide-eyed, zoned out stare.

[text to: Jer] It’ll be alright, don’t worry.
Thorek decided to not really expand to much of the comforting text. Best to focus on getting there. He got the map from his backpack, and he opened it up. Alright no time to waste. He had it lock onto Jer, and he was soon in a hallway. Did this map not freaking like rooms!?
“I’m here?” he called aloud, a bit questioningly.
There was a panicked screech from a room just down the hall.
