Alright, worldbuilding for spn noir: this is prohibition era, full of jazz and film noir. But it also has a dash of urban fantasy. There are the fae (unearthly magic), humans (no magic), and humanoids (earthly magic).

Castiel is a siren, the species are descendants from the sirens in the Book of Enoch (sirens were the wives of fallen angels, making the Novaks part angel). The idea of a "siren song" is mostly a myth, sirens aren't forcing you to do their bidding, they're actually just powerful empaths that pour emotion into their songs.

Yes, Dean is a half-fairy (but he tells everyone he's a sprite). There are a lot of fae species, but fairies are the most feminine and the only ones with wings. As a half-fairy (Mary was a fairy, John is human), his wings were mutated, rendering him flightless, so he cut them off to sever that feminine part of him (but he's still super sparkly).

I don't really know what city they are in yet, just that Dean owns an private investigation business with his brother (whose wings fell out, even more mutated) and that Cas lives above a speakeasy owned by Crowley (who is an imp).
