listen i do appreciate canon marineford for the tragedy it is. however it does happen to also be extremely funny.
ace is on his knees on the execution platform, the same place the father that he despises and has tried to define himself outside for his whole life had knelt, thinking this might be the most fitting ending to the life long crashout ace started when he found out who his father was
and then in comes LUFFY, his cheerful persistent little menace of a brother, who has come to COP CENTRAL to break ace out PUBLICLY.
Not only that, but he’s staged a mass break out of the formerly inescapable prison IMPEL DOWN (HE WASNT EVEN LOCKED UP IN THERE? SO EVERYONES A LITTLE BIT CONFUSED AS TO HOW THAT HAPPENED???)
He also kind of looks like shit? But he’s fighting like he’s on day three of a methamphetamine high so no one can be sure how injured luffy Really is.
side note: luffy tanked a lung full of Kills You Dead Toxin and then got shot full of Lowers Your Lifespan Drug and on top of all that, DEMANDED the Super Lowers Your Lifespan Drug when he realized he might need anything resembling recovery time.
as an elder sibling myself, ace might’ve been truly grateful for being loved at the end, but i KNOW there’s a part of him that was INFURIATED that his kid brother managed to crash out harder than he did like OMG STOP COPYING ME FRRRRRRRRRR.

idk how to explain it but fics where the ASL brothers time travel and meet roger’s crew (and sometimes whitebeards) crack me up.
like imagine being roger, doing roger things. you’re having the time of your life, trying desperately to rizz up a woman so bad she’ll look like she’s doing charity work if she gives you a shot.
then out from nowhere and in quick succession you discover:
1) you somehow managed to procreate
2) your son has been training to be a D1 Self Sabotager since day ONE. like that boy is so incredibly self destructive that one of his pastimes was going down to bars and instigating fights by asking if he had the right to exist. AS A CHILD. you may have been awarded the title king of the pirates but your son is for sure shooting for king of the crashouts.
3) you didn’t die maidenless.
4) your son got handed over to MARINE VICE ADMIRAL MONKEY D. GARP. AND THEN DUMPED IN A JUNGLE TO BE RAISED BY WOLVES AND BANDITS.
5) PORTGAS D. ROUGE GAVE YOU THE TIME OF DAY??????? HOLY SHIT?????
6) your son??? is sworn brothers??? with monkey d garps grandson???????
7) no seriously PORTGAS D. ROUGE?????
you turn to the strange rubber child picking his nose. you ask him what his dream is or something kids love to yap and the marine vice admirals grandson looks you dead in the eye wearing YOUR GODDAMN STRAW HAT and yells “IM GOING TO BE THE KING OF THE PIRATES!!!”
you turn to the final, blonde child and rayleigh is beginning to sweat a little along with Every Blonde Member Of The Crew and you ask him what his deal is. is he another d. clan member. is he rocks d. xebecs kid. is he secretly part of cypher pol. the possibilities are truly endless.
he shrugs in his fancy little noble outfit and says with his fancy little noble accent “My parents suffer from raging cunt disease and I have an aversion.”
AND THATS ONLY FROM ROGERS PERSPECTIVE!!!!!!
the asl brothers are hilarious out of context and i will not take any criticism.
