if you're in the US or Canada and interested in learning a language using a free app please get a library card and download MANGO. it's very good and extremely free with a library card (there are many public libraries and universities using the service, so make an account and use the search feature here to find out if there's one near you).

mango currently has 72 available languages and dialects (that's right! different courses for french or canadian french! spanish or latam spanish!). it's set up basically like an audiobook with text. the idea is that the narrator explains the words while you read, and you repeat after them or say the translation out loud when prompted. there's a daily review where you go through flashcards. you can also use the flashcards at your leisure and create your own. at the end of each chapter there's a listening comprehension quiz and a reading comprehension quiz. i cannot emphasize how effective this all is. and it's free with a card.

if you're not in the US or Canada and/or looking for something more like duolingo (don't use duolingo btw tldr they fired translators and replaced them with "ai"), then try BUSUU! it only has 14 languages atm but the lessons are really descriptive and effective. it also has a feature where you can correct other people's open-ended speaking/typing exercises. you set your fluent languages, and exercises by people learning those languages will appear in your feed for you to correct. you can even add others as friends! and, much like duolingo, it has a streak and leaderboard system for you to strive for, minus the guilt-tripping owl.

busuu is free (you watch ads to unlock lessons and they're all skippable after like five seconds), although it also has paid premium/plus versions (i don't use the paid version—the language courses are available for free, and the ad system is Really unobtrusive).

classes are over! just two more papers to write and then i'll be able to officially wrap up the term.

the paper i'm analyzing for my nanochem final project is taking me on a wild detour into lanthanide chemistry, so i'll be spending the morning going down that rabbit hole until i understand the basics. it's a bit out of my biochem/orgo comfort zone and the tequila hangover isn't helping but i'm always excited to learn some new science.

this is a poem I made quite a while ago. I snipped up an old book to birth the poem, and as guilty as I feel for that, the book was never very good.

Elsie is slowly coming to terms with her new life. Shes at a crossroad where she misses her old life and family and is really trying to give this new one a chance. The bond can’t be complete until she falls in love with Aruan.. his only wish. “Her body wants me, but her mind doesn’t. As for her heart, I’m not sure she’ll ever open that part of herself to me. Because she didn’t choose me. Nature made that choice for her. For us.” Someone is trying to kill Elsie. Someone doesn’t want this bond to complete and it’s a race against time to figure out who it is. Just how far will Aruan go to prove his love for Elsie? This is the conclusion to their love story. Yes to an HEA. If you love fated mates, spice, action, minimal politics and uncomplicated world building. It’s a fun, fast duet story!

Good morning beauties! how r u all doing? is it finals week yet! we r here about to hit study week for undergrad students! fighting!! u got this! I am thinking about moving back home since I can't afford being on my own anymore... not sure when ... but I am thinking about it...its a very hot and beautiful day here! and I saw some nice white flowers on my way to the campus! I am quite ignorant with names of flowers or fish...so... what we can do at any given point in life is to try to stay afloat and try to do our best given the circumstances... lets do that and I think future gonna be ok :)
