Trans Coded Character #1: Fujisaki Nagihiko/Nadeshiko

In season 2 of the anime, Nagihiko’s childhood is shown. From the time he was little, he felt bad about having to pretend to be a girl.

This means he knew from an early age that he was a boy, but was still forced to behave like a girl. It could be he didn’t have a word for it, or was afraid of being kicked out, etc.

For me, I also knew I was a boy from a very young age. But I had no word for it and was confused, upset, and frustrated when I was constantly misgendered and dead named.

Furthermore, Peach Pit explained his situation as being from a dancing and kabuki family where the males must grow up as a girl to learn how to play female roles. I do NOT buy it at all!

That’s not a thing in kabuki or traditional Japanese dance, as far as I know.

Nagihiko is trans!

He called himself the “twin brother” of Nadeshiko because he wasn’t ready to come out yet to Amu and Yaya, who were the closest to Nadeshiko.

He gets upset when Kuukai asks him what it’s like wearing a skirt because it triggers his dysphoria.
