I think he would be able to wear his armor without a binder but would rather have one on. If it's a really long campaign where they probably aren't going to get a lot of breaks he probably doesn't wear a binder and just avoids taking off his armor.

Cody: You should take your binder off soon, it's been 8 hours

Rex: Yeah, but it's midnight now, so technically it's a new day which means a new 8 hours
